I know that contrary to popular belief, pearls are actually supposed to bring bad luck on your wedding day.....however, does this only apply to real pearls? My new veil has just arrived and I really like it, but it wasn't advertised as having pearls on it, just diamantes - but it actually has both! Although the pearls are actually beads made to look like pearls, so will I get away with it?

I've just googled it - and there's an equal amount of people who say it's good luck as bad luck! I also found out that it's bad luck for the bride to sign her new name before the wedding as it tempts fate. Oops - I was practising my new signature this morning!!!

pearls were all the rage in the 1950's weddings, and i know quite a few grandparents who have seen the 50th wedding anniversary, i would say if anything they are good luck and they are pretty too

Luck is what you make it!
I really don't see how wearing or not wearing pearls will effect my marriage.
I have a pearl bracelet from my H2b and a matching one that my son bought me that I will be wearing on the day. My necklace and earrings are pearls and diamonds, my friends veil and tiara both have diamonds and pearls on. I will be wearing them all and s0d superstition!
But, I am the sort of person who will deliberately walk under a ladder though, I just don't care.

Tbh if you followed all the things that could cause you "bad luck" you wouldnt end up getting married ......and what if you dont do the the things that are meant to bring good luck does the opposite happen if you dont do them ?

Forget it all do what makes you happy

Mrs hughes to be there are two different types of real pearls lol.
There are the real very rare made from just a speck or the ones where the pop a marble in the oyster for the oyster to make a pearl quicker.
    Or something along those lines.
Im at work so cant get the full information on my phone to post but will do when i get home

Well, I wore an antique necklace, earrings made of pearl, my headband was pearl and diamonte and I had pearl pins in my hair ... and my bridesmaid's gifts were pearl pendants. This is probably like most superstitions, it's entirely up to you if you believe it or not xx

Pearls are part of my theme too. I have them on my invites and everywhere I can possibly put them. I think there are so many myths and portents of doom associated with weddings that if you took notice of them all, you would never make it out of your front door on your big day. Have what you want you make your own luck hun. xx

I'm even looking at pearls for my wine charms and napkin rings................luck is what you make it my opinion so if you want pearls WEAR THEM!

Its another ridiculous superstition! Don't stress yourself out more by worrying over it.

How many people do you know that followed all this superstition rubbish like nor seeing the dress, pearls etc? How many of them are now divorced?!

Just do what you want and you'll be a lot happier!

My fiance helped me find my dress and we r both very happy with our decision despite what others think. People spend too much time worrying about what other people think and the correct way to do things.

Don't worry and besides pearls look beautiful!

I will most certainly be wearing pearls lol, they're my favourite kind of jewellery!
On her wedding day my mum wore my grandmothers pearls, which she had worn on her wedding day!
My gran & grandad were married over 50 years before she died & my parents celebrated their 26th anniversary this year..

Superstitions are superstitions, not facts (can you tell I'm a sceptic? lol) - imo obviously, if you want to follow them because you believe them/want to then do, but don't let other people force them upon you!
For example I won't let my h2b see my dress before the day - not because it's bad luck but because I want to surprise him :) Xx
