Watching breakfast this morning and they were doing a story on public proposals. has anyone on here had a very public proposal?? do you applaud or cringe when you hear about this??
i watched a few this morning and i started crying. maybe i'm just a big softy...or hormonal...
also, so happy about brad and angelina being engaged

My H2B said that he was going to ask me on our plane to Mexico I did say if he asked me like that I would say no lol. He never did tho he asked me when we was at a lodge we hired lol but I do like them.

I would hate to be put under that sort of pressure to say yes. My OH proposed in our hotel room while we were on a 'weekend' away in Oxford. He had planned to do it while we were walking along by the river thames but chickened out cos there were a lot people around. I am so glad it happened the way it did!!

I had a rather public proposal, over the mike at our local in front of a packed pub.
I come from a large loud family though so not really that easily embarrassed.
Im with Lola, although its more the people watching that i would hate, im really not a centre of attention person I would have loved h2b to ask me when we were diving but then thats not exactly public... I quite like watching them but then they do make me feel nervous/uncomfortable so not really sure
There are so many people out there who will tell you
what you can't do.
What you have to do is turn around and say, "watch me"!!

I had 2 proposals from my h2b. After we had been together not too long, we were lying in bed and he said ' Not that i'm asking, but I would marry you lol, the conversation continued with my response, well if you were brave enough to ask, I would say yes' Then later that day he took me to the beach in scotland, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him, but it was very private, only the 2 of us around. It was beautiful x Bless him

My proposal was very intimate but i think its so romantic when people are proposed to in public, unless the bride says no then oviously i feel sorry for the bloke x

I think that for the right person it can be incredibly romantic, and personally I love it but I think its really unfair if you know the recipient isn't into that kind of thing!

We were in a public place but we were the only two that knew what was going on.It was such a perfect moment that i would have hated to share it with anyone else.We were in New York and it was another 24hrs before we told anyone else and although i was dying to tell people those 24hrs we felt like the only people in the world that mattered.it was very special x

My h2b proposed at the fireworks at magic kingdom theme park in Florida! So very public lol. It was packed shoulder to shoulder and I could see everyone round us making 'awwws' and 'aahs' and smiling etc. I wasn't embarrassed though as I was over the moon and in the most magical place on earth! :)

yep my OH proposed to me on the steps of York Minster infront of a load of tourists, thankfully the didn't clap but and some of them went awwwwwwwww and others were giving us funny looks when my OH got out the half bottle of champagne and two glasses (we did move off the steps out of respect)

Poulton Bride ours was very similar! It happened in New York under a huge Christmas tree with hundreds of people around us but only we knew what was going on, that made it even more exciting and special! It was too late to call people so we spent the evening wandering around New York and got plastered at an Irish pub! The following morning we wend to choose the ring then I called my family. It was great that only the two of us knew all night! I would die of embarrassment if everyone was watching!!!

i think i'd like it. the reason would be because i know how hard it would be for my h2b to do something like that. he's not into PDAs at all lol so, if he'd organised some big show and dance to do it, i'd probably pass out lol

I was never proposed to - it was a discussion we had a number of times then in July 2011 we were out shopping looking in jewellery windows and he said "so shall I get you a ring then and we can set a date" I was like OK!! I would have died if he'd have gotten down on one knee to do it in front of people - he knew this... thank fully! x

My OH proposed to me on Christmas Day night at the Fountain De Trevi in Rome.......with loads of people there!!! We had planned to go visit on our way to dinner and thought it would be dead but it wasnt haha!
My OH knew i would say yes, so i dont think he was worried about me saying no.....but he did say he was a bit daunted by all the people there that he didnt expect, but i loved it :) i did have my back to the majority of the crowd which was prob better but it was lovely that after people were saying congratulations and stuff - and i was given a red rose from a local flower seller :)
He had chosen the Fountain de Trevi as i have been before (not with him) and i told him when i was there i throw 3 coins in the fountain and the legend says that if you throw coins in the fountain then you will return to Rome with your true love :)
I dont normally like the idea of "all attention on me" but we'll never see those people again and i will never ever forget it :)

Aw some too cute stories :) Jason proposed on christmas morning in front of my mum and all his family, parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles & cousins in his aunties living room! and i was super not expecting it at all! i didnt actually say yes for about half hour cause i couldnt speak lol. aw it was lovely, for me it wouldnt have mattered where or who it was in front of just that he was asking. I think had i of been unsure that i wanted to marry him though doing it in front of HIS whole family wouldve put ALOT of pressure on but as it happens i rather like him so i said yes without too much thought :) But i do think big public proposals are beautiful but only for the right people. each to their own aye xx

I think its a bit cheesy but romantic for some people - not my cuppa tea. My mans proposal to me was perfect in every way :-) He took me on hols to Menorca and we went to this gorgeous wee town called Cituadella and he bought me some cute mini cakes and took me to a fountain and got down on one knee. Ahhh it still makes me swoon when I think about it. I love him very much :-)

neither h2b or i are in to PDA's we are very much keep ourselves to ourselves kinda people, so i would have wanted the ground to swallow me up if he had done the down on one knee thing in front of people. the proposal wasnt romantic in anyway - but thats just h2b, actually did it on FB Chat lol he was in afghanistan and i was at home about to fly to afghan for work - im only getting my engagement ring this month, we both work away so havent had chance to wear it, but i will in a week! :0) xx

My fiance went down on one knee and asked me in front of all our friends and family at our daughter's 1st birthday. It kinda became our engagement party after that!!
