Hi I'm just wondering if anyone else has pcos and is trying/had a baby, I got recommended to start doing ovulation test and temperature checks to see if/when I ovulate and keep records. Has anyone got ant tips that might help the doctor wasn't very helpful just told me to go back after 2 years if nothing has happened which I did not find helpful at all x

I don't have pcos, but I am ttc baby #2. Have you got some opks? They're helpful to know what you're ovulating, also there are some great apps to help you track your cycle. Also, relax and have fun! It's amazing what enjoying yourself can do! I hope it happens for you quickly, sticky baby dust xx

I've also got PCOS but don't panic it's not the end of the world or your fertility!

Here is my story so far :) Hopefully this may bring you some comfort in the knowledge that anything is possible and that there is a light at the end of the tunnel :)

In 2005 and 2009 I had two normal pregnancies, my son and daughter, and everything was fine.
I gained quite a lot of weight from both pregnancies going from a size 10-16/18 over the four years. This is when my problems started.
My periods became irregular to the point where I was going 3-5 months without anything and nothing I tried helped to lose weight.
In November 2011 I had my gallbladder removed due to gallstones and the keyhole surgery brought on a period and December 2011 we found out we were pregnant with baby number 3!
Sadly this was not meant to be as March 2012 we suffered a second trimester miscarriage at 18 weeks :(
The post mortem came back clear which meant it must have been something to do with my body that had failed me.
After months of tests I was diagnosed with PCOS in Jan 2013!
My last period of this time was 25th August 2012 and my gynaecologist was adamant I was not ovulating but to our shock we found out I was 12 weeks pregnant in March 2013! I'd had no periods and no symptoms of pregnancy whatsoever! I also had not started any treatment so this was completely natural conception!
Naturally we were worried that we would lose the baby again so I insisted on extra monitoring from my doctor and my antenatal care.
This time round it was another normal pregnancy and everything went fine :)
On the 5th of October 2013 our baby girl was born at 38 weeks and completely healthy! I had my fourth normal delivery and we were released 6hrs post birth :)
Amazingly I didn't gain any weight with this pregnancy and I was actually a pound lighter then my pre-pregnancy weight the day before my daughter was born AND I lost over a stone and a half just from giving birth!
Fast forward 23 weeks later and I've had one period post birth and I'm now 22 days late according to MyDays cycle app :/
Me and H2B have been DTD plenty but I've been getting nothing but BFN's :(
So I've asked my doctor to re-refer to me gyni' for more treatment as clearly I have a hormonal issue that is preventing me from losing weight as the pregnancy hormones enabled me to lose weight without even trying! (Morning sickness wasn't an issue before it gets the blame ;) )
She was going to refuse me as she said because we are not "actively" trying for another baby, just letting nature take its course as we do want more etc, they wouldn't take me on for treatment.
But then I pointed out to her that PCOS doesn't just affect fertility, but makes you insulin resistant which increases your chances of developing type 2 diabetes. In turn it also makes it nigh on impossible to lose weight no matter how much you exercise and eat correctly! Being overweight then in turn increases your chances of heart disease and other complications....
I even made the statement that if I can manage to lose enough weight to get back to a healthy BMI (currently at 30 :( ), it would lessen the symptoms of my PCOS and mean I wouldn't need any further treatment!
She just stared at me in stunned silence and after a moment of the cogs grinding agreed with everything I had said and apologised as she hadn't thought of it that way!
She's sent the referral through and asked if she can prescribe me Metformin in the mean time which will help with the insulin resistance.

Although I didn't need any treatment to conceive in the end, it had been discussed that I would be put on Clomid with regular monitoring to see if it would help me ovulate. This may be something that you could discuss with your doctor or even just get referred to gyni' and deal with them as most GP's haven't got a clue what their talking about when it comes to fertility!

I'm sorry for the wall of text and I really do hope you get answers and the necessary treatment!
Just know that there is always hope and sometimes the best thing is to not try to get pregnant and just have fun sex with your partner :D As stressing over periods, or lack of, and ovulation tests and pregnancy tests is the last thing your body needs! This was certainly the case with me ;)

    Good luck!

I have severe PCOS with numerous, large cysts on both ovaries.

With regards to opks, they are not brilliant for pcos sufferers as we can have a number of lh surges throughout our whole cycle, so when you think you've got a positive, quite often the egg hasn't released.

I have been off the pill for three years and after a year of irregular periods I went to the doctors and was diagnosed. I'm now under a fertility specialist who has discovered that h2b sperm count is low and we were told yesterday that if the next one hasn't improved we're being referred straight away for ivf. Before being told this, the plan was always clomid with monitoring. Now we get one shot and one shot only. However, don't give up. Why your doc has told you two years I will never know! Get back round there and take with you, the NICE guidelines for fertility. They clearly state "any woman of childbearing age, who has been having unprotected intercourse for 1 year, is entitled to investigations into fertility". I did this and it got me referred straight away! Good luck xx

Haha, how ironic. I changed doctors to get referred. My old surgery was a small one. My new one is much larger. Surgeries get charged for referrals and only have a set budget for referrals so some will not refer until they have to. When I had my first appointment with my new gp, he was great, he even asked me how it makes me feel. So if they won't refer you, look into changing your surgery.

When you do get referred though, prepare to feel probed to death, they don't woo you like our hubby's 2 be ;) xx

Lol but I always think it helps the next generation if everyone said no then they wouldn't no what to do its fine reading text books but practical training is better.

But on the plus side I'm actually starting to loose weight been size 20 for years and xxl chef work stuff and now fit in medium work tops still love baggy pants tho and I fit in a size 16 baggy on top half just feel a bit tight on bottom so still got a bit to go but its hard work tho x
