I have PCOS too. I'm 34 and no kids yet either. I joined slimming world and have lost 1 stone in about 3 months. Its coming off very slowly, but its coming off.

the only thing that was quick for me was Cambridge diet and Atkins. Although I became even more obsessed with food whilst on Cambridge and ended up with gallstones on Atkins! so wouldnt recommend either.

apparently the Zone diet works well for PCOS sufferers, as its a more prehistoric diet (so my Dr says). I only lasted 2 days on it though, I found it too restrictive, and I love me grub!

I don’t repeat gossip so listen very carefully!!
Started Slimming World - 23/03/2011 - 2 Stone to lose!
    Total Loss = 1 stone 7 lbs.
As at 23/11 - 3 days before the wedding.

I've got an under-active thyroid and take 175mg of thyroxine a day. Used to be a size 10 and since being diagnosed a few years ago i'm now 14/16 depending on where i shop. Tried diets etc no luck, don't make a blind bit of difference!! Can't take things like adios etc cos of the thyroid problem....pain in the bum it is lol

Got my blood test tomorrow MrsC and i can't bare getting it done either :(

i have pcos, i got diagnosed with it 6 years ago when i was 14 and have struggled since :(
was meant to start the gym a week ago but money stopped me. but for now i have started changing my eating habbits and diet.
i have noticed that with pcos its really hard to lose the weight. im sort of happy with my weight on top half ( maybe could do with losing a few pounds ) but i hate my bottom half. the top of my legs are horrible :(

aww my little 2 year old girl has got an overactive thyroid........

Do they generallly tend to go away on their own or is medication required? Its only slightly elevated so they are just going to keep her under review an do regular blood tests to see if levels have gone up or not or what and she doesnt need any medication apart from stuff for bowels

i have balloned in size for a number of reasons but nothing seems to help get the weight off! when i was first diagnosed i was a size 12/14 now im a 22 i hate it!!! i'm taking up boxing soon so hopefully that will help get some anger out and drop some dress sizes! im only on 25micrograms which is a tiny dose of thyroxine i think im gonna have to talk to the dr but when i think its my thyroid my blood work comes back normal so they dont do nethin.

sorry im in a ranting kinda mood jst needed to get that off my chest :S

Weight can be lost providing levels are right but it's no where near as easy as it would have been prior to diagnosis.

It certainly seems daft now lol
I guess i wasn't used to not being tired and its part n parcel that i have many blonde days lol,
i never really had probs though with the weight going on until the last 4 yrs, but on meds now so hopefully that will help as im paying for a personal trainer at the mo n hes good-wont let me give up, but the weight isnt shifting yet, i'm due a re-check on 8th so see if my doesage needs upping,
becky the dr never told me u could die by not taking them, but ive survived 14yr without taking them so i must be quite lucky :) xx
