I'm a tiny bit worried, I thought it was standard that you paid for Photographer up front and was fine. And with the time coming up to pay final payments etc, was going through everything with my mum and she flipped out at the idea of paying a photographer up front.
Saying what if the photos are rubbish, or they don't show etc

And now I'm worried, is it standard?
    What has everyone else done?

I've paid in full, but you've now got me wondering the same!!
It makes sense to pay once you've seen the finished album, but it never crossed my mind when booking.

I think it's standard to be honest..... We got our invoice and 6 months to the day of the wedding 50% of what remains has to be paid and 2 weeks before we pay the rest......

I know what your saying with regards to what if the photos are not up to scratch but unfortunately this is a risk we take.

As for the no show, that's why I chose someone who attends all the local wedding fairs and is reputable and our venues main supplier if you like.

It's too important to scrimp at or not go with someone named in my opinion...

I'm sure you will be absolutely fine, you're just worrying as its so close. Please don't worry x

We paid up front. Paid deposit at time of booking then the final balance about 6 weeks before the wedding.

My sister did the same for her wedding and she used a different photographer.

Most pay up front, it's the only way of assuring they do get paid. They wouldn't want to do the job and then the couple not pay them, not that you would do that, but some might. Then unfortunately it is a risk you have to take regarding how good they come out. You've obviously picked that one as the pics are good though.

I think it's fairly standard. Most of our suppliers require the balance however many weeks before the wedding or on the day xx

That's pretty standard, we have put down a deposit to confirm the booking and have to pay the final balance about 4 weeks before the wedding I think. x

We've paid a £200 deposit and the rest is to be paid "on or before" the wedding date, according to our contract.

All our suppliers so far need paying in full before the day. I think as long as you have proof of what was agreed in a contract or booking form, anything that is substandard or no shows should be covered if you need to get legal on them. Our photographer contract has a specific clause that if he can't attend through illness etc he will send one of his colleagues from his studio.

If you don't have it already and are still worried, I would make sure you get some wedding insurance, just in case. X
