Hey everyone..... I'm wondering if anyone can help me. We are supposed to be booking our honeymoon next month and I really want to book it in my married name. The problem is we will fly out only a week after getting married and I dont know what to do about the fact that my passport will be in my maiden name. I wont have time to send it to be changed that quickly..... Can I just take the marrage certificate to the airport as proof of name change? I really want to be Mr and Mrs Metcalfe on all our documents........ I know its probably silly but i'm all excited about it. Any help or info would be great. Thanks :) xxx

you can get a new passport 3 months before the wedding in your married name. you just need to get vicar/registrar to sign a form. you must have passport and holiday in same name - marriage certificate wont do. unfortunately they can only transfer over 9 months of your current passport onto the new one x

Yeah, as Becky said, unfortunately you can't have holiday and passport in different names, they have to be in the same name, and marriage certificate isn't proof, for one as it doesn't technically show your name change. However as said, you can get a new passport with your new name on 3 months before the wedding and you just get the registrar/vicar that is conducting the ceremony to sign a form which you send with the passport application. The new passport will only become valid from the date of your ceremony however it does mean you can book your honeymoon in your married name for the names to match. xxx
