Hi everyone I’m new to posting so be gentle.

Yesterday my partners mother advised me not to back out he wedding as she ordered a champagne wedding dress costing £1800 for her to wear to mind and my partners wedding ? I haven’t even started wedding dress shop as yet. We get married next April. Is this normal ? I’m upset, as I wanted to be the only person in a wedding dress at my wedding. I don’t want to bring it up with my partner as he will say I’m being silly. Part of me wants to just run off and get married now :(

Whhhhaaaaaatttttt!!!!! Noooooooo! What on earth! I mean like who on earth does she think she is! Like no! You cannot wear white, ivory or champagne to a wedding unless you are the bride! Especially not a wedding dress! OMG I would hit the roof! You need to day something. She is totally bang out of order. She absolutely cannot wear that dress!

I'm so mad for you. She must be such an attention seeker! Or a complete 81tch. You really have to say something.

Hi thanks for the reply. I thought maybe I was being a bit bridezilla as I’ve spoken to my partner, he won’t get involved. I’m not really confident enough to talk to her. She has never really liked me but I thought things were getting better. I just hope she willlook silly turning up like that to someone else wedding. I hope my dress is better ( it won’t be costing that much though lol )

All females know that it's a rule, you do not wear anything to a wedding that is bridal. No white, ivory or champagne colour. Sorry to say that your FMIL sounds likes she is being a selfish, attention seeking moo who is trying to upstage you on your own wedding day. I think she is deliberately trying to upset you and your H2B really needs to support you with this one.

Reminds me of a similar post on here where someone's sister I think was also bought an ivory wedding dress to wear to her wedding. She basically wanted all the attention.

I cannot understand why anyone would want to try and upstage a bride. You can only hope everyone will think your FMIL is a totally 81tch by wearing that dress. Maybe it could have an accident with some red wine.

Everyone will know you are the bride and don't forget that. People will generally think less of her for wearing a wedding dress.

My best friend said the red wine thing.Maybe that will make me as bad as her though ? It’s not even the colour as much as it’s a wedding dress, and my partner doesn’t care. It’s spoilt Easter., we not even speaking at the moment. ( which is why I wanted to make sure I wasn’t going over the top! ) I will be glad to get back to work tomorrow. Lol

Thanks for your kind words, I will just leave her to it, hopefully she will just look silly.

I say the red wine thing as a joke. Let her look like a mean moo who is blatantly attention seeking and trying to upstage the bride. Is she still married???? Just wondering if she is single or married/in a relationship because she sounds like she has issues. Still think your h2b though needs to stand up to her and tell her to ditch the dress. Someone needs to tell her that she's only going to make herself look like a 81tch in front of all your guests.

My SIL actually asked me if i was happy with her having a pink outfit. Total opposite to your FMIL where she actually was so keen to make sure i was happy with her choice of outfit and her husbands outfit too.

Totally and completely out of line, your H2B really needs to put her in her place. If she does wear it she will only look like a fool in front of everyone. Sounds like shes just jealous and wants the attention for herself.

If it was just a champagne outfit fair enough but for it to be a £1800 champagne wedding dress is just completely bonkers.
