    Hi everyone,

Well finally we managed to sort the meet the parents malarky so that both our parents could meet up before our weddings which is in 5 weeks time omg!! Anyhoo Pauls parents drove up yesterday from Livingston to Kintore(where mine stay) which is a 3.5 hour drive and landed at my parents house just as I was leaving to get Paul from work. It was rather amusing to see both our parents meet n greet for the first time as it was obvious that they were all nervous but excited too. My mum had also been looking our for them since 2pm and had worked herself up into a mini frenzy by the time 3.15pm arrived and they appeared. Anyhoo, I left them to it and went off to pick Paul up from work.

Well when we went over in the evening to join them for a chit chat my mum had already bored the socks off my soon to be MIL with photos of me as a child (sooo very embarassing!!!!) and of more recent ones of me and of our HUGE family! If that wasnt scarey enough for the woman she also started chatting about her various ailments that she has and both women continued to compare notes on their health and its history.

Meanwhile my Dad and soon to be FIL were getting on like a house on fire, this is the first time I have seen Pauls Dad genuinely happy, smiling and very talkative as he is normally quiet, shy and sometimes unresponsive. So it was lovely to see the change in him and that he was seriously getting on really well with my Dad.

So we left them to chat away for longer as by this time it was 10pm. Today we are to join them for a meal out at Bennachie Lodge, Kemnay so I am hoping this goes fine too and that we can wave them away on Sunday afternoon feeling relieved and happy. And I am so glad they have managed to meet now than leaving it to the night before the wedding.

How has everyone elses meeting of their parents altogether gone? Would love to hear more stories. xx

    Its lovely they got on.

I was dreading our parents meeting for no particular reason- just nervousness! We all went for dinner at our venue and it was lovely. And they liked it. (I actually got something right with this wedding!) So all was good.

my parents have met heb mum and they seem to get on fine. i am still waiting to introduce them to h2b dad and wife. his dad is alot older than my parents and h2b is quite embarassed of his dad. he has a very dirty mind for a 70 odd year old man. i suggested we all meet up for a meal but as fil2b tends to choke on food or spit when talking (lol) we need to think again. i get on fine with him tho so cant wait for them to meet

Our parents met when we moved out and again when we relocated to a mortgaged property they all helped us move and decorate.

I keep inviting my dad now to come for a meal with the in-laws but something keeps cropping up on one side or another but he's said he does fancy it.

I am similiar with the age thing ljeh92 as I am the youngest of 6 and my h2b is the oldest of 3 and so there is a big difference between his parents age, being quite a bit younger than my parents.

Just back from the final meeting with the photographer and now getting ready for the meal out with both parents, mmmmmmmmm......this should be fun lol!! xx
