Do you have the funds to allow a trial run to see if it would work? Just buy smaller amounts/cake if you can to test it out?

What are you covering the cake with?
If its icing or even if its butter cream just add food colouring to it till you get the colour you want
I honestly wouldn't paint it but that's just me

You can buy gel colouring (sugarflair is the best) and water it down with a bit of vodka. The alcohol in it will evaporate, if you used water then it would make the fondant sticky. If you can get hold of a cheap one, an airbrush would be much easier. Aldi sometimes have them! xx

could you not get some brown and red icing and stick icing shapes likes dots or hearts on it instead? rather than painting it as it could end up patchy

    like this?

My mum has a cake business. You could paint it but it will look painted and will not be an even colour. My best advice would be to try your local selling pages on FB and find someone that bakes cakes from home to make you a plain one in the colours you want and then decorate it yourself. Will be far cheaper than shop bought x

Have you thought about covering with a layer of chocolate or chocolate-coloured fondant? I love your cake choices, but the larger one has a very deep colour to it, which may be hard to get streak-free with paint.

is this your cake hun? I personally wouldnt attempt to paint as stated further up it will streak and look painted and uneven, is there no way you could speak to your brother or have iced shapes cut out and stuck on as mrs mann said?? Maybe your brother will come round and make it still hun when he realises what it means to you x
