Anyone else concerned of overheating in the reception venue???
On nights out I really struggle with getting overly roasting and not being able to cool down, I long for air conditioning (I dont think there is a single unit in the village) or a brisk breeze to cool down in! Ive never really been able to regulate my body temperature well and would have probably have been better marrying in winter (but we both chose June, it will be 2 years since we moved in together and we both love the date.)
The community hall where our reception will be held gets rather toasty once the whole village packs in and on nights out there I seem to be the only one dying of the heat and praying someone will leave a door open! I usually only dance towards the end of the night because I am worried I will overheat, my make up will melt and I will look gawd awful! Add to that having to dance in a wedding dress, to ceilidh music and having people watch me.... I have to admit, that is the bit I am not looking forward to. :(
Would it seem weird/rude of me to insist the door behind and to the side of me remain slightly open? I just know that someone will complain of a blooming draft and they will end up being closed. I dont want to try medication to regulate my temperature sensitivity, as we are still trying to conceive.
Maybe my only option is to try and source an air con unit to hide under the table!!?? lol
Anyone else have an overheating concern?

You can only really drink lots of water to help your body cope, and step outside to cool down every now and then. Often when it's warm parties spill outside anyway don't they? Plus I don't think you should feel bad opening a door! Cold people can move away from the door.

Gawd I hope so!! I know my own mother is going to be one of the ones complaining about doors being open and there being a draft and nay-saying her almost isn't worth the stress!! Maybe I can invoke the age old "Whatever the Bride wants rule"?
I just don't want to be the red-faced, shiny looking one in the wedding reception photos :S Thinking the massive fans Ive just spotted in Argos might help!

Ah, we've also gone for a June wedding and I've been worrying about the weather since this heatwave we've had!
I'll have to ask if my venue has any air con units. If not, I'll be buying some fans!

A few things... avoid caffeine and chillis on the day! They can raise you metabolic activity making you feel hotter! Also, drink plenty of water as mentioned... And make sure you'll have lots of ice available. I don't think people will mind if you have the door slightly open. You're the bride and I think they'll all understand!
Air con or a fan behind or near you would be ideal and a fan in the evening will help air circulate!
This is why we've booked a sept wedding, I get hot enough in the summer in my work clothes without thinking about how hot I'd be in a dress that weighs a fair bit! Xx

Definitely ask Salutethepeople!!! Glad it doesn't seem to be weird the thought of me having at least a fan!! I am most definitely investing in one (Will be something we can use in the house if this 30deg C heat is anything to go by!!
I will take your advice Valentina!

No, it doesn't seem weird at all! We should feel comfortable on our wedding day :)

Get a handheld fan....not an electric one i mean a proper fan you wave. A guest lent me theres on my wedding day... BEST. THING. EVER!!!!

OMG I am hot all the time.
If you want the door open you have it open remember its what you want not what everyone else wants. You can always get a handheld fan you can get them on the bay of e for cheap just as MrsWade2B has said.
Im thinking about buying a few for my bridesmaids if its going to be like this when we get married.
Cant wait until I become Mrs K

if you have a big dress a hoop helps! i got married in september last year in 28 deg heat and i ended up being really sweaty and hot but you can't tell in my pictures! most of our guests went outside and the doors were wide open as everyone was warm. for those who were still too warm they went outside in the courtyard area and to be honest i went with them. infact at one point i just collapse in the corridor and sat on the floor just to cool down.
we had air con but it made no difference so just being able to sit outside helped. we also asked the hotel reception for a fan and the manager gave us the one from her office to go in our room to help me cool down in between the breakfast and reception

Why don't you have hand held fans as your favours for the ladies?? This would help circulate air in the room??
I went to a Wedding at the beginning of this heat wave and spent most of my time outside as it was just so hot in the room, even tho they had electric fans on.
If people moan about the door open just say its open at the Brides request. No one argues with a Bride on her big day!!!!

THANK YOU!! I love the hand held fan idea! I might even be able to find them to coordinate with the bridemaids dresses and mine!!! Oh Mrs Mann, that sort of heat is my idea of h3ll! It is positively roasting here right now and unless you are neck deep in the sea cooling off it is a bit on the uncomfortable humid side!! I am going for bridal dress appointments this weekend, I am beginning to thinka hoop skirt under an a-line might be the best way to go too!!! Rachael, we are looking into grabbing some of the circular standing fans for the venue, otherwise it is just going to be too toasty!

I have to say I'm worried about this too.. I'm always the red faced shiny person in night out pictures too :-( Luckily our reception is in a marque so all the panels will be tied back (at my request if not already !) xxx

Gosh MrsH-2B that is so me - if I don't use the green cover stick I am bright red. A "friend" once said that in my wedding dress I will look like a lighthouse - not quite the look I was going for lol x

Fans are bought! Took a little bit to find nice black and white ones, but I have ordered three of them and hopefully they will come. \never ordered from E*t*sy before. I would have loved to have the entertainment outside Mrs H-2B, some of my favorite nights out where actually outside entertainment. But the chances of Clegs (horrid flying biting beasties whose bites result in red lumpy welts) are high! Just going to risk having the doors open and glower at anyone who dares to shut them! lol

Just drink lots of water; ask about the doors being open as it is your wedding and possibly take a mini handheld fan with you :)
