I am currently tearing my hair out searching for the perfect venue for us, our requirements are a little complex
I've always wanted an outside ceremony in a field or forest... Near or just outside the Manchester area (Lancashire, Yorkshire are possibilities) Something without a grand manor, wanted more of an eco/farm type feel to it Enough land to put a large tipi marquee Late music license (past 1am)
I guess it sounds like a mini festival (without bands!)
The only place I've found that fits this in some parts is Trafford Hall in Cheshire, has anyone had a wedding here/been to one?
If anyone has any ideas i'd be REALLY greatfull, a lot of ideal venues are in Wales, Scotland or down South, but we would like to keep it as local as possible.
Somewhere with an 'outside hut' for the ceremony would be ideal but I know these are quite rare and most places hold the ceremony indoors due to the law. Does anyone know if this is changing this year? I read somewhere it was....
Anyway sorry for the sonic waffle, and THANK YOU if you have any hints tips or advice
:)

Do Tatton Park have anything you could use. I remember going to a do there that was all outside ? Dalby Forest in North Yorks do outdoor stuff as they have gigs and all sorts of events there. They have visitor centres and little building dotted about all over the place x

You can't actually get married outside in England. You can have the ceremony indoors and the rest outdoors - but it's not legal for the wedding ceremony to take place outdoors. However, you can do this in Scotland.

I am getting married outside......under a structually sound gazebo that has been licensed. it is in the garden so its outside but it has to be under cover and in daylight hours in UK i'm afraid. archaic laws but we have to abide by them or we are not legally married. . unless of course you had a humanist wedding......which in UK is not actually a legal marriage. mym is correct in saying that in Scotland it is legal.
maybe a quick inside marriage, then go outside for the rest of the day? but it has to be a certain room specifically licensed for weddings.
Also, music past 1am isnt allowed either as it spills into Sunday.
