Wedding Forum - Our wedding day :) I am now Mrs Macdonald!...

Hello ladies, day one is now over and done with and I am incredibly happy to be posting today as Mrs Kayleigh-Louise Macdonald!

It was such a wonderful day - there was a bit of a panic when my family were a little late but we all had plenty of time to get ready and my nana and aunties were wonderful, one auntie helped me with my hair and makeup while the other tied my bouquet up for me, I had my first omg moment when I was being laced into my dress, looked up at my nana and said 'Holy cr*p I'm getting married today!!!' We all had a giggle at that, I didn't really feel nervous or scared, just calm and excited. My husband met me with his family at the register office, he looked absolutely amazing and so very handsome in his suit, and he kept telling me how amazing and beautiful I looked in my dress :) One thing we were happy about - it was so nice to see that of all the people we invited to the day only two people couldn't make it!

We said our vows, and exchanged our rings and then all of a sudden we were married and signing our marriage certificate! It was an amazing feeling to be married -at last-, and we couldn't help but giggle and smile at one another for ages afterwards. My face aches today from smiling all day yesterday!



After the ceremony, we went into the courtyard and took lots of photos, again my auntie was fantastic and took my camera along so we were able to have some photos from the day and we still have to wait for the rest of the photos and I am assured there will be MANY photos to see haha. Then we made our way to the restaurant - the staff were lovely, very friendly and eager to help and they all congratulated us both. Another OMG moment - when our meals were brought out and the waitress said to Peter 'This one is for your wife' and he just looked over at me with a shocked face, mouthed WIFE and smiled at me. The food was lovely, we got so many cards and presents from family and friends we were both absolutely bowled over by their generosity it was amazing that not only did they make the effort to attend but also gave us such amazing and thoughtful presents... I can honestly say and I think I can speak for both of us - we have never felt more loved or supported by so many people, everyone was so happy for us, it was just a wonderful day.



After the meal, most of the family had to begin their drives home so we said goodbye to everyone who was leaving and then headed over to a small family bar for a few drinks with the remaining family and friends, which was a nice way to wind down the day.

We wouldn't change a thing, we're both unbelievably happy and calm - the day was everything we could possibly have hoped for, we're both loving married life (I'm a Mrs!!! eeeeeee!) and we're very excited to do it all again next week!!



Thank you a million times for all of the help, support and advice you ladies have given me over the duration of my planning, you are all amazing and without you all here I don't think I could have stayed this calm. Loves to you all, and for those still planning I wish you all perfect, happy wedding days it is honestly just so worth every moment of stress or anger or upset.... and to all I wish you long, happy marriages and many years of joy and love.

Hi girls, yes Melissa I added the lace myself, it really made the dress for me! Was a task as I'm not too handy with a sewing machine but i took my time and i think it paid off because everyone said how beautiful it was :)

Serenity, the reason we're doing it all again is because we're having a blessing in Spain - my OH is from there so we wanted to get married there but the paperwork was too complicated and can take a full year to complete so we had the legal UK bit and we're having a blessing ceremony in his village so all his friends and all his family can come - his daddy and little brother are in Spain and didn't attend yesterday. Lots of work but we think it sums us up perfectly. Coventry is where we live and Spain is where we met and fell in love!

Rachymoo, we went to Bella Italia for our after ceremony meal it wasn't the most exclusive of venues but we wanted a relaxed family atmosphere and good food and we got exactly that so it was a good choice!
