Eeek I’m married! Sorry I’ve not updated sooner. Sadly I didn’t update much before the wedding either as I got so stressed about a few things I ended up being signed off work with anxiety and it kind of ruined the build up a bit, I do feel a bit sad that I should have spent those last few weeks feeling excited and instead I just felt sick and stressed but never mind, it was all worth it in the end and the actual day was perfect.

We got married in Lindos, Rhodes in Greece and it was just amazing. Lindos is literally the most beautiful place I have ever been to and we miss it so much, I have cried so much since we came home! We have both said we would actually live there! Our 2 children loved it too. We are definitely going to go back.

We flew on 31st May and then our wedding was on 5th June so we had a few days to relax and sort out the final bits and bobs. We met up with the wedding planners the day after we got there and sorted everything so that was nice.

The actual day was perfect. The couple of days before the weather was a bit iffy and then the night before the wedding, apparently everyone was kept awake by a storm but I slept like a log, lol! Me and h2b were going to stay apart the night before but in the end it came to it and neither of us wanted to so we didn’t bother – we just went out for a meal with everyone the night before and then I set the alarm for 7am and just got up in the morning, kissed him bye and went off to my mum’s room to get ready! We didn’t get married til 3:30pm so I thought the day until then would drag but it went really quickly. The hairdressers and make up girl arrived at 8 so I got them all settled and doing other people’s hair and then it got to about 10am and I had nothing to do! So off me and my sister went to the shop for some champagne :-) so we were sat on the balcony drinking champagne at 10:15am on my wedding day!

I got my hair and make up done last and then I got my little girl ready, into her flower girl dress and did her hair etc. My little boy was with h2b so it was strange not having him around all day. Then got all the bridesmaids into their dresses and then we watched the rest of the wedding party leave the hotel (I was hiding on the balcony watching them all, h2b looked so lovely), they all left about an hour before me, my bridesmaids and my Dad – they had to meet one of the wedding planners at a bar near the chapel and then all go there to wait for me.

Finally I got into my dress and we had about half an hour to spare so we went and met my Dad in the hotel bar and I had a pina colada! I was slightly tipsy by this stage, lol! The wedding was at 3:30 and taxis were booked for 3:25pm (the chapel is literally 2 mins away) but was slightly worried when they didn’t turn up until 3:32pm! I think they’re in constant contact with the wedding planners though and I think they’d told them to hang on. Finally they arrived and we were on our way, we got to the top of the hill and I could see the chapel and the taxis started beeping so I could see everyone down at the chapel turning round and looking :-) we got out and I had to walk down the hill in bare feet as my shoes were rather high! So then at the bottom of the steps to the chapel I was putting my shoes on and panicking because everyone on the beach near the chapel was watching me – lol. We got married at the beautiful chapel in St Paul’s Bay.

Then it was time! I was walking up the steps with my Dad and I remember saying oh god oh god I’m going to trip over! I think my shoe did get caught in my dress at one point! I couldn’t look at anyone while I walked down the aisle or it would have set me off crying, finally I was at the front and h2b was allowed to look at me (he and the best man had to face the front while I was walking down and weren’t allowed to turn round, lol). It all went so quickly from that point, I feel quite sad that it’s all a bit of a blur, I just remember my heart racing the entire time! First there was the readings by 2 of my bridesmaids, they were lovely and I had to really concentrate on not crying – I did a bit though! Then the registrar went through the vows, first in Greek and then in English, then it was time to say I DO! My little 3 year old boy was the ring bearer, he had our rings in a little leather cat purse we’d bought him from Lindos so he had this on his shoulder, it was very cute – I did shed a few tears when he handed us the rings! Then that was it, eeek we were married!

After the ceremony we went on a boat cruise round St Paul’s Bay for an hour with lots of champagne, then the boat dropped us off at another beach round the other side of the bay, where our reception venue was. It was at a beautiful place called Mare Mare, it was absolutely gorgeous there. It’s right on the beach and looks amazing when it’s all lit up at night. Me and hubby went off with the photographer for our ‘location shots’, it was quite nice to get away from everyone and have a few minutes quiet actually. Then back to our reception, we had a Greek bbq style menu. The food was just out of this world and the staff were all fantastic and couldn’t do enough for you. We literally had the most amazing day ever and my face hurt from smiling at the end of it. The day just flew by, we had the speeches and then the first dance, by this time it was about 9pm and then everyone just had a really good time, the drinks were flowing and there were lots of happy faces all round, it was just fantastic. I’m just so sad it’s over, I am so emotional at the moment and not really sure what to do with myself! Luckily we do have our UK reception next month to look forward to, so I do get to wear my dress again :-)
