So we've decided on a winter 2016 wedding.

I've been going PinInterest crazy recently and we have pretty much decided on an icy theme with lots of white, clear and sparkly bits. I definitley want a hot chocolate bar for the mingling between ceremony and sit down meal and I'm also toying with the idea of not having starters but having canapés instead or an Italian style meat board. This would be to cut costs, plus I think it's a nice way for everyone to mingle a bit. I have to put this idea to my H2B though. With him working away a lot and having a 5 month old, we don't really get time to discuss these things.

My head is full of ideas so this is going to help keep things straight, however, without discussing with H2B first, I don't really want to get my heart set on something for him not to like the idea. He has a few days off soon so I think I will try him out with a few suggestions and also suggest viewing some venues.

    Save the dates

In keeping with cutting costs and the winter wedding, I am going to make my own save the dates.

As we are going to be getting married close to Christmas, I am going to make salt dough decorations in a heart shape, painted white on one side with the save the date info and the other side I am going to stick crystal gems on. I am going to send them out with our Christmas cards this year.

    Invitations

Again, I am hoping to make myself but I think I am going to keep these fairly simple and classic. I have many ideas for these but nothing concrete.

    Favours

I am going to put together smore bags and maybe a "Grow your own Christmas Tree kit". My plan was to make little gift boxes with our initials on each side, together with the date of our wedding, and put the gifts inside.

Everything sounds lovely, I love the idea of hot chocolate stations at winter weddings-although be careful it doesn't get on your dress ;)

Your save the dates sound lovely

Thank you for all your comments

Hopefully the end product will be as nice as the ideas sound!!

We don't yet have a date set. Hopefully it will either be the last weekend in November, or the first or second weekend in December.

I never thought about the potential catastrophe of spilling the hot chocolate!! I am incredibly clumsy so maybe I should just stay away from that side of the room!

    Centrepieces

I'm torn between candelabras and manzanita trees. I suppose it will also depend on whether the venue will allow open flames.

    Flowers

I think I'll just keep thus simple with bouquets of baby's breath, but I've not really thought about this too much.

You could always have LED candles in them.... or you can get some candleabra's where the candle is inside so a little safer then just an open flame.
