My brother gets married 2 weeks tomorrow and i am soooo nervous for him, i dont know why. They have everything under control and her family have done most of the planning with them. Im an emontinal person anyway so will cry all through the service but just praying everything goes to plan. She has just found out she is 3.5 months pregnant too with baby number 2 so announcing it at the evening do which will be exciting.
We are getting married in the same church the following year so will be paying close attention during the service as be us next year but can imagine everyone will saying 'be you two next' but i haven't book my DJ or photographer yet so going to check there's out.
Anyone got weddings before their own and using it to for ideas? Anyone been to a wedding before at their venue? xxx

Think no matter whos wedding it is, you always tend to look at theres, & imagine what yours is going to be like. If you see something you like, you either take it or adjust it slightly :)

Hi, I haven't been to any weddings at our venue but I do know someone who got married there and she has offered to help. I'm kind of in the opposite predicament as a friend of mine is planning her wedding (no date set yet though) and has talked a lot about her ideas, some of which I had already thought of for myself, and now I'm worried that if I use them she'll accuse me of copying. It's already been made clear that we can't 'copy' her so it's complicating my decision making process.
Otherwise, I'd say it can be helpful to get ideas from other peoples weddings. I'm sure they'd feel flattered that you thought they'd chosen so wisely ;) xx

It's a pain in the bum isn't it Stacey? As she hasn't set the date yet, it's likely I'll be getting married first but I'm in a no win situation as she's had the distinct advantage of talking a lot about her ideas as she's been planning longer.
I was considering birdcages, but that's what she wants. I had some other ideas and when I've looked in more detail, it turns out they're labelled 'vintage' but again this is her theme so without knowing it, I like some similar things. Not sure whether to just do what I want or purposefully go in another direction. Xxxx
I never thought they might think im copying them, i hope i dont like too many ideas. However i know our colour schemes are different and thery have alot of DIY decorations whereas im not creative enough so not bothering.

I share more with you ladies then have with anyone else.... we have kept everything quiet as had a few grumbles from the families about our ideas so chosen not too tell anyone anything now so all a big surprise.
She should have been quicker booking her date then lol.

iv never been to a wedding before. luckily h2bs sister is getting married this november so i will see my first wedding and how they have done things, apart from we are having a church wedding and they are doing theres at the venue. They happen to have the venue that i wanted for sooo long and oh doesnt want to use the same venue as it wouldnt be fair either way, i kind of see his point, just gutted as its a lush venue and soooooooo much cheaper than all the other venues around cardiff. they are having a snow flake theme for there wedding, so theres nothing that we would copy from hers as we are having a bird themed wedding (hopefully) so blue flowers, birds all over bird stationary and bird cage centerpieces. xx

Cant believe you have never been to a wedding... i think it my age but we have at least 2 weddings a year at the moment and i have been a bridesmaid 4 times. I love a good wedding and treat myself to a dress for everyone so have a massive wardrobe full of lush dresses xxx

I've never been to a wedding before! Well, i went to my mum and stepdad's but i was really young so don't remember it very well and it was a registry office wedding with no evening reception and then we went on holiday as a family, so nothing like my wedding will be. We've got our best man's wedding to go to this summer, but we've got different tastes so don't think we'll have much the same and we already have our photographer and dj and stuff. xx

I will have been to 3 weddings in the 12 months before our wedding in november, been to 2 already and one more to go in may. They are all family weddings. So I have had the added stress of making sure nothing in my wedding is the same as theirs! Do not want any of them thinking we have pinched their ideas! I know all about the one in may already as my cousin and I have planned our weddings at the same time. She openly told me everything about her wedding even showing me her dress and bridesmaid dresses! I on the other hand am far to supersticious to let anyone know anything about ours other than my h2b and mum xx

That is very similar to my situation Stacey and I actually posted about it on here as I has provisionally booked a date at a venue and it turned out to be the same venue on the same date that my friend wanted. She more or less demanded that I give up the provisional booking for her. Anyway, just to avoid the argument I have booked at another venue three weeks earlier so if she ends up booking that date our weddings will be in the same month. I'm not too bothered by this, will just be very awkward if I decide to go for what I initially wanted which is birdcages as I know she'll be cross with me, xx.

Yeh.... jus annoying :( we were both bridesmaids for my best friends wedding & we got close... she went funny cuz my oh had proposed to me & we orginally were looking at 2014/2015. She then got engaged & announced she was pregnant & said she was getting married 2014 cuz of the baby....Soon as i say im getting married 2013, thats it so is she! shes moaning cuz she cant try on wedding dresses yet, as i have already picked mine & deposit made. When i 1st went shopping she gave me a list of dresses i couldnt try on because they were HERS! Soon as she found out the date & then the colour scheme & flower girls dresses, she was all of a sudden having the same.... however.... im getting married in a manor house by the sea, & a very nice hotel after... & shes getting married in a registry office & a social club... shes now saying im getting married because of the party, & there getting married because they want be a proper family!!!! sorry for rambling on haha bad day today :(

I am a wedding photographer so as such, I go to lots of weddings! and I have stolen SOOOOOO many ideas from those weddings, to make my very own style, my wedding has ideas taken from each of them ..... LOL

Stacey she's obv very jealous of you hun! ;) we wanted to get married abord but had to be in that country for 3 months before, so we decided on gretna, only to find out that a friend (not a close one) was also planning on getting married there too! we wanted the old blacksmiths shop but on finding out thats were they were going, we changed venue (for the better!!) my fave colour is purple, so obv my colour scheme till i found out it was hers! i tweaked mine abit as i didnt want anyone thinking id copyed her. i think its pathetic that she thinks i would actually copy her ;@ you girls just plan YOUR days & have what YOU want, stuff anyone els & what they want with there bloody lists! (they should of got married first ha ha x x
