We've been looking round for something a little bit different as both of us don't really do traditional wedding cakes. We visited Blackpool a few months ago and saw a gorgeous cake in a cake shop window. I took a pic of it and emailed the shop - and got a quote of £150 (which was good and even better my parents said they'd buy it for us).
Today we decided to have a drive there and see if we could order it (and look into sizes/decorations etc). We've finished up ordering it, picked our decorations (royal blue ribbon and lighter blue flowers) - and also picked the bride/groom cake toppers that we'd been looking for (sitting down as opposed to standing as again we wanted something a bit different).
It turned out that all cakes booked before the end of January had 20% off because the shop is celebrating its 5th anniversary. The cake also turned out to be cheaper (£130) - so altogether the cake only came to £117 (the cake toppers were only £13 as well). I think we got a bargain (and so do my parents lol). I've put a pic of the cake on my profile (but different names etc on and on the left we're having '6th August 2011 at Gretna Green' instead of the poem).

Thanks. All we have to do now is wait til 3 days before the wedding to collect it. The guy in the shop has said he'll make sure it's in a stronger cake box as well - as we've got to pick it up from Blackpool, bring it back to Leeds, then 2 days later drive it to Gretna for the wedding.
Ooo I love that cake! I'm still trying to figure mine out, but I've managed to narrow down a few decisions - lol! A friend of my Mum's is making it and my Mum is paying for it, I just gotta come up with what I want - argh!
"Of course I'm not wedding obsessed!!"

We were quite laid back about ordering the cake (thinking we'd got a lot of time) til we noticed quite a few places online were saying that they were getting booked up for the summer months. After ringing Elegance (where we're getting our cake) we were advised to order as soon as we could cos they were getting busy as well. Glad we did now - as the discount offer is only on til the end of January lol.
