is everybody having an 'order of service'. i am having civil wedding in a hotel, and i really dont think it is necessary. we are not having any readings, as that is not my & H2B's cup of tea (or should we??) and also i am going to want to get out of there ASAP.
i keep hearing it mentioned and when people have asked me, they are negativally surprised when i say no and now im thinking perhaps i should!
all ive got to give to you are these 5 words tonight

I dont think you normally have a order of service for a civil wedding they are more for churches when you have readings and hymns etc I wouldnt worry hun I've been to a couple civil services and the registra just goes thro everything the last one we were in and out in 10 mins so dont worry lol xx

HI, We are also having a civil service and havent even thought about order of service, we are not having any readings, neither did my sister who got married recently in a civil either, so not sure, the service is only about 20 mins anyway!

Personally not sure I see the point of them, they're probably a "nice to have" but I don't think there's any point having them unless you want them!

thanks geordie thats my way of thinking too. and no i dont want them, the only poems in this house are the type you couldnt possibly read out at a wedding. lol

We're getting married at Gretna, but having a minister. The day before we're picking up the schedule. Is this the same as order of service?

Just received my Order of Service's today - they are gorgeous I love them!! That's me got everything now so it's just a case of getting the notice of Marriage which I can't do until April and thats me done. I'm pretty gutted I'm going to be bored now and it won't feel like i'm getting married cause everything is organised!! xx

Hey, were not having one for our civil ceremony, i think it tends to be more of a church thing for hyms and that x

We're getting married in a church so we are having an order of service. My cousin got married last month and had a civil ceremony at a hotel - she didn't have an order of service but she had a schedule of the day done for us so we knew when dinner was - a lot of waiting around time too !

we are having a civil ceremony in a hotel and i wasnt oing to bother with these until my mum mentioned it and pointed out that some people like to keep these (her) so I had some cheap ones done!

We're having a civil ceremony and an OOS.. We're having one purely because there are some people who have passed away that we want mentioned in our day, but not in a big way.. So at the bottom of the OOS, it mentions the candles lit beside us are for those people xxx

We had an OOS but had a church wedding so needed one. I've never had an OOS for a civil ceremony, only ever had one at church weddings. They're not cheap to get printed so if you don't need it save yourself the expense xxx

I'm getting married in a religious ceremony in a Ancestral house and I'm making my own Order of Service. I like the idea xx

we're not having one. Our whole day is at the one venue, so I don't really need one

The civil ceremonies that I have been to haven't had them. There's no real need for them, but nothing to stop you having them if you want them.
30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

We're getting wed in the registry office, just short and sweet no readings etc so I don't think an order of service is necessary. However, we have decided to do an order of the day printout to put on the chairs at the registry office, detailing where to go next and what time food will be served, entertainment starts, speeches etc. We decided this would be a good idea because at a wedding that we went to a few months ago, OH commented that it was unorganised and that he would have liked to know what was happening when, because we ended up missing out on some things because we weren't in the right room at the right time.
