My fiance has just text me to say that his friend wants to get himself ordained so that he can marry us. I think this is a lovely idea but wonder of the legality of it and, for that matter, how does a person get ordained in 14 months?? We have just planned to use the registrar but having one of our friends marry us would be so much more personal. Is it possible??

I think you can maybe look into it over the internet, and see what it entails. It is an excellent idea, and would make it so much more personal. I hope it all works out for you, after all they did it on friends, so maybe it can be done. xx

I have just looked into it for you. And by the looks of it, you can not do it in the UK. You either have to study to become a Vicar or you have to go into the Registrar Trade. Sorry, if this isn't what you wanted to hear. I don't know if there is anything else you can do. xx

Honestly I think this is an american thing where jo public can get ordained! Altho a friend could hold a blessing for you, I THINK you would still need to go to a registra first to get married legally!

yeah, I'd had a wee look myself when it was suggested last night and I couldn't find anything UK based so it did make me think that it wasn't possible in the UK! Having the friend do a blessing though, that's a good idea too! Cheers girls!
