Just wondering what people have done/are planning to do with bridesmaid dresses. I have 5 adults of various shapes and sizes that I'm sure would rather try on dresses to make sure they fit thank gamble on an online bargain- but I want pastel blue and think these are going to be impossible to find on the high street?! If I had one or two BMs it would be much easier but 5?! I doubt any one shop would have the right sizes.
Had anyone used online discount sites and had good/bad experiences for Bm dresses?

I have 6 BM's and all different shapes and sizes too. For mine, originally I was going to get them offline but then realised that the website I was looking at had a showroom. So we all went along and tried a few dresses on.

The place I got mine from also did made to measure dresses and a large range of colours to choose from so that you could get the exact colour you wanted. The made to measure was a god send as it meant I could have my BM's in maxi dresses but could adjust the length of them for the shorter girls.

Where are you based? This was in Croydon so not sure if that is near you or not?

I'm in Leeds so a bit of a trek!
I'm a bit concerned about price as well- that was the other appeal of online. But I kinda want that experience of going shopping with my girls and trying stuff on! Aagh!
I've got a long time before I need to commit to anything but kinda wanted to do some research now so I'm prepared for the costs etc

Ah, fair enough. Perhaps there is something similar in your area?
My dresses were cheap to in comparison to bridal shops and some high street stores for what I was looking for. Including delivery I paid £460. £25 of that was delivery so taking that away it worked out at just over £70 a dress which I didn't think was bad.

I too was having an issue getting a dress to suit all three of my BMs. I found the infinity dresses (such as two bird dresses) worked really well for all. I am trying to make one myself to see how they look on, but it may be an option. We are having a tying party, so getting together and trying the dress on seeing how we can tie it up for each BM and having a nice day like that!

Could you maybe go shopping so you can try on a variety of styles and sizes. Then when you know what they suit/prefer order some online. X

I'm a bit dubious of ordering from the box of light as I've read some mixed reviews. The trying on party is a great idea! Only one girl isn't local so should be easy enough to arrange.
I don't know why I'm getting stressed already got ages til I need to panic lol

I was going to order mine online but went to the high street with them to try on different styles and ended up coming home with their dresses! But definitely get them all together to try on different styles as what you would like them to wear may not suit them. Good luck! xxx

When I was bridesmaid for my best friend she ordered the dresses online. Due to her 4 bridesmaids being different shapes and sizes this resorted in us having tried at least 10 dresses before she decided on one.

As these were all online she had the hassle of ordering and returning them each time.

Due to me having witnessed this I decided to go to the shops to get the dresses for my bridesmaids and it was so much easier. :)

I suggest getting your BMs to try dresses on in the highstreet, so you know what suits who, and finding it online. Or, if you know a dress maker, get them made? By the way if your BMs are all different shapes and sizes then don't struggle trying to find the one style to fit all, it's OK to have them in slightly different styled dresses.

I think it depends how brave you are! I've heard too many horror stories for online shopping for bridesmaids to risk it! I know it costs more money but have you considered a dressmaker? At least this way you know they are all going to look the same and also be comfortable in what they're wearing as they will be made to measure xx

i have 2 adult bridesmaids and 2 flower girls. i ordered mine from place where i got my dress as i got a bridesmaid dress free if i ordered before end of january. most places do this so worth finding out. ours were £145 for adult and £115 each for flowergirls. so we got 4 dresses for £375 - not bad for bridal shop prices.

I went to wedding last week where they ordered theirs online - on the bay i think. they looked great and were nice and cheap. no harm in ordering one and then if its nice then get the rest. however just be careful buying from china etc. my cousin did this and ordered 1 and then ordered the others and the rest were a different colour - she had about 12 bridesmaids (loads i know!!) and dresses were about £20 each x

Don't forget something to consider is that colour can look different on a computer screen compared to up close and personal.

I've bought my bm's dresses this week, bought one in the store and the rest online because they were out of stock in all of the local stores. They were on sale and I got 6 dresses for £95 although I only have 4bms were going to use the extra dresses to make the bouquets and cravats.

Only one of them has tried there dress on and she loves it although it needs taking in, my grandma can do this for free.

I also thought about buying from china but am really glad I found something in this country xx

I saw them a little while ago in h&m and really liked them but thought I'd wait until the end of the season when they went into sale, usually bank holiday in August (I worked in retail), went down to £17 on Monday, ordered them online then went a bought another one in the shop for £10!!!!

I have to say I'm rather smug about it :D

They are long chiffon one shoulder dresses with ruched bust and structured bodice, they are a pinky colour called old rose!!

    I think we could say I'm a bargain hunter : D

I've been thinking about online, but my BMs are all different shapes and sizes, so I've been sticking to the bridal shops that do the dresses in the sizes up to what I need, because I can't seem to get what I want in the right size otherwise. Thinking I may have found a compromise in a bridal shop today in the right colour, going up to the right size for only £119 each, which is one of the cheaper options for us so far.

It's a struggle trying to find something that suits different shapes, I'm lucky, I have to 8's, a 10 and a 10/12. So they're pretty much the same. Had they have been different sizes I probably would have gone down that route, but think its such a shame that you'll spend that much money on a dress that will get worn once :( xx

Terri, have you looked into the option of getting a dressmaker to make your BM dresses? I am sure you can get it cheaper. I have 6 all different sized BM's going from an 8 to a 14 to a 22 and short and average and tall and managed to get my dresses for about £75 each.

If you are thinking about online I shall post the link of where I got mine from as the quality is great. I have a ic of the dress I got in one of my photo albums if you wanted to check it out? They also do made to measure so was able to adjust the lengths of the maxi dresses for my shorter Bridesmaids and order the bigger bridesmaid (my sister) a completely made to measure dress.

Light is made to measure though so you take the risk with ordering them and if not liking them or your bms?? Atleast with high street their a little bit more but you have the advantage of trying before you buy x

I went shopping on high street with my bridesmaids a few times (between July-October), found about 4 potential dresses in different shops, wrote down the product names/codes and the sizes needed and waited for the sale at xmas. We got our favourite dresses reduced from £250 (way over our budget per dress) for £79 (under budget) on boxing day. We had fun trying and saved loads of money!
