It's so scary. I opened a 0% credit card for just wedding stuff and got the first bill which was £1100!!!
My total budget is £6000 so it freaked me out seeing so much in one place!

Were paying everything ourselves, no credit cards or loans. Dad has helped pay for the deposits for venues etc but part from that we have done it :D paying things bit by bit :D

But like you said it all adds up. We had a budget of 8K but think its more like 10K now... my dress however was 1,500 lol

well you've bought quite a bit for the money! It's difficult to say what our budget will be, we are paying for it all ourelves, but as we have so long to plan for it we are paying things off bit by bit so havent really set ourselves a budget per say we just know roughly what we want to pay for things.. and have already stuffed that up! Our rings we wanted to spend about £400 and we are spending 600! and our cake we were going to go for a standard M & S one for like £150 but fell in love with one for £350! However we did get our venue down 2000! I dread to think what our final bill will be! x

Don't worry! I think you have actually done well and got a lot for your money!

For all the things we've booked, agreed prices for and paid deposits, we've committed to a spend so far of £17,275. So far we've actually paid out in deposits £2,815. Still plenty more to book and pay deposits on ..............honeymoon, my dress, BM's dresses, H2B and all groomsmens and dad's suits, flowers and venue decorations, wedding rings, stationary, presents etc. etc. I've roughly worked out when all is paid for we've have spend just under £30k!!!! Talk about running away with it all! Thank goodness we're getting a lot of help from parents for this wedding!

I was good at budgeting until I got engaged! Seriously. Wedding budget has actually increased by 50% :S

    xx

Our budget for the wedding......(not including the honeymoon) was £6,000 and the planning was mostly left to me......so being the bargain hunter I am I have cut that right down and we have spent just a few quid shy of.......drum roll please......£3,000...just by DIY-ing and shopping around.

biggest expense would have been our dresses......I made them and saved loads.

BUT H2B was in charge of the honeymoon, and that cost £3,000 too, SO.....basically what I saved on the wedding paid for the honeymoon.

But it's now all paid in full, so now I can just relax and wait for the wedding day to come with no worries....

I set a budget of £7500, but its looking like we will get it in under £6500. Just registar (245) and chair covers (240ish) left to pay, and I'm please to say only the registrar and my ring will have gone on credit cards. And even then, I only put my ring on cc because I was buying it online and you get better protection!
My budget spread sheet shows what I have spent, and where the money came from. A good grand of our total spend came from my wages, on things like my bargain dress, stationary, pretty things, sweets and so on.

ooh, thinking about it my 2 pairs of shoes, and the grooms shoes, went on a store account. So less than £400 on credit! Shame the rest of my mahoosive debts didn't go down lol!!

no big payments for me just yet, that all starts next yr!! Just changed my job aswell to my old place that made me redundant, but i love it and will be on a 6k+ pay rise :). But on the plus side i brought 28 mini pocket games from there which should of cost me £182 :o and i got them for £32!!! bargin!!!
But im saving £200 a month to put towards the venue and then buying something each month also towards it to try and save as much as i can, and not panic too much :)

we had budgeted 13k and its come in just shy of 9k at the moment, but still got suits and flowers to book. We have paid out 1380 so far, on deposits and the diy still. we have decided that his money goes on the house and mine goes on the wedding and on debts, as we are trying to clear them at the same time
