Hi Dawn I am 39 and getting married in July this year. My dress is quite a simple pattern but with a touch of glittery bits on the sleeves and around the bottom edge, its being made by one of my friends mums. x
26th December 2007 - the day I met my special man
8th August 2008 - the day he was mad enough to propose to me
24th July 2010 - the day I felt beautiful inside and out and
became Mrs Dickie for life. xx

I will be 34 when we get married and it's my second time around too. Was wondering what to wear myself as i have many regrets from my first, including the dress being too big because of distance of where i was and where the wedding was, so after talking to the girls on here i've decided sod it i'm gonna do everything MY way this time and that includes wearing the big white dress again (well it's got red and pink in it as well but you know what i mean). LOL

Hi there
I beat the lot of you younguns! We are getting married in 2012 as it will be the year I turn 60 & the year he turns 50! Ive never been married & he is divorced. So you can imagine I am "freakin out" deciding what I will wear. Don't want to look like mutton dressed as lamb! Don't feel 58 & am told don't look it but people may be being nice?? :-0 So any suggestions would be great, oh yea getting married in the States but not decided on where yet, could be NY, Pennsylvania (family live there) or Vegas & 75% chance of it being outdoors. Hello Dawn ;) I'll be 42 when I get married next July... 2nd time for me too! I tried some dresses on today for the first time, and I was suprised how wonderful I felt in them all... not mutton dressed as lamb like I thought it would be! lol I did stress to the shop assisitant I didn't want to look like an idiot in something too young for my age, and she was really helpful .. go and try some on!!!! you'll love it ;) x x x x

hi cup Cake glad you had a good time have you decided on any styles yet? and did you like the ones you thought you would? pleople seam to say try on ones you may not think you would like x
CommentAuthorCupCake
Dawn I tried all sorts on! I actually liked one I didn't think I would, and the one I had in mind really didn't look that spectacular when it was on lol So my advice is try the whole shop on :D I have another couple of appoinments booked for the next few weeks which I'm looking forward to as you get one to one attention, the shop I was in today was a bit manic with teenage girls trying on prom dresses!!! so I get a bit hot and bothered, I'd have liked to have felt more important instead of jostled about a bit. xx

i have booked into 2 wedding dress shops with a 2 hour slot in each so i hope that will be long enough. It funny how it's not what you have in mind when you go in.. let me know how you get on next time and i'll keep you posted too. good luck x
Morning Dawn :) I'm really pleased you've booked some private trying on sessions ( well worth it ) just go mad and try everything on lol I saw one in the shop I'm going to next Saturday, it's massive and pink ( I'd never buy it) but I'm gonna try it on just to see what it feels like .. ha ha ha probably look a right numpty, but I don't care xxx

Dawn - I will also be 49 when I get married for the first time. I didn't have very good experiences in bridal shops as I'm not as slim as you are and I was frustrated that all the dresses in one shop were size 12 which in real terms mean size 10. I wanted sleeves as well which didn't seem a big ask but they were all strapless. Anyway, I am getting one made partly because of this and partly because I didn't want to pay at least £1000 for a dress that wasn't my dream dress. Look forward to hearing about your experiences which I am sure will be much better than mine.
