This is just a Preliminary thing apparently they will bespoke it for me.
Both the American Air Museum and AirSpace are available for evening celebrations and can accommodate between 100 – 500 guests. Venue hire for either venue is £7600 to include - Private hire of either AirSpace or the American Air Museum from 7pm - 1am - Decorative events lighting throughout the venue - Resident DJ and dance floor - Security and car parking attendants - Cloakroom assistant - Dedicated events manager
AirSpace Conference Centre is available for hire throughout the day and is licensed for civil ceremonies for up to 80 guests. Venue hire for the AirSpace Conference Centre is £2400 to include - Private hire of the Airside and Concorde Suite from noon until midnight - Resident DJ and dance floor
So from the looks of it i have to pay for two seperate rooms which makes 10k then with the guests im inviting at the below price:
Wedding Package Inclusive of 2 glasses of house Champagne and a selection of seasonal canapés 3 course wedding breakfast with coffee ½ bottle of house wine ½ bottle of mineral water Glass of house Champagne to toast Linen, crockery, glassware, cakes stand & knife £85.00 per guest
It's not at all cheap but apparently fiance's uncle's ashes were scattered there as he loved it there and all his family love it there so maybe it is more perfect than i could have hoped for

i dont actually have one hahaha! i am judging it by how much inheritance i have left afterwards. as i spoke to my dad and my mums former power of attorney and they both agreed that my mum would be happy that i spent some of what she left me marrying the man i love and starting a life together. but even with that im still wondering if thats wayyyy to much -_-

Yeah im going to try and wrangle it down as i cant really condone spending that much :P i totally get them charging 7600 for the reception in with the planes as those planes are all Millions of pounds but im hoping they can knock down the price for the other room or maybe hold it in with the planes so i only have one room hahaha even if i have an audience of people who come to the museum!

Wow the new venue looks amazing. So unique- everyone would love it and talk about it forever!!
The hire fees do sound a lot though. What doesn't make sense is the 2 separate fees for venue hire and then civil reception - sounds expensive for the conference centre just for the ceremony. Could you get married elsewhere and just have the reception at this place if they don't reduce the price?

Yeah i was thinking about that last night... only trouble is that it is only the evening do that is held in with the planes the rest is in the conference centre so i may either have to haggle it down, deal with it or just have the evening reception there and try to find somewhere close to there to have the ceremony and wedding breakfast.... although i found an amazing picture of a christmas party they held there.

My Dad was also in the RAF and I wondered whether initially it was RAF Hendon as I know they do functions there and it looks very similar. I wish you all the best with your new plans and am so sorry to hear that your original venue was subject of something so horrible.

h2b just gave me a really good idea... which is surprising haha most of the wedding has been my input. he said if we can haggle the price down a bit he said maybe we could incorporate a subtle top gun theme into it (which is awesome because its one of my 2 fave films ever) so him and best man the jump could get the jumpsuits and aviators for the reception and it would make some amazing pictures! what do you girls think? too tacky?

well i got the quote from her yesterday and there was me thinking it was going to be about 15k.... how wrong i could have been! for everything like catering, room hire dj etc the total price comes to just below 19k!!!! i defo think this is no go! :-( sooo sad as i loved that venue but even with inheritance thats an awful lot to pay out and i dont think i can afford it!

apparently she tried to get it down with the events manager and they apparently refused to move. apparently if we want to have it at a more resonable price we have to change around all the rooms we want.... well the whole reason i want to have it there is to have the reception in with the american planes and for that i understand that it will be a little bit more pricey but that room for hire is 7600 they charge 85 per head for food which tbh i think is very very overpriced... but 19k...... they are def having a laugh!

Yeah im contemplating ditching it to be honest, it may be a brilliant venue but it's just a venue at the end of the day, a less expensive one will still mean just as much and it will be a heck of a lot cheaper which means more money for h2b and i to start our marriage with and more money to do up the house with or put into savings for future kids. i think i will have to find somewhere a lot cheaper even if the venue and food come to 8k i will be happy

not yet as we need the deposit and i cant get that until my solicitor comes back next tuesday to release the funds for it and i also need to have a secured date which cant be got until we give notice in the middle of october but she has said she will hold one of the remaining spaces for a wedding free as its a national trust property they can only have 12 weddings a year.

Im quite lucky with it as we can create our own menu, have free roam of the vast gardens for pictures and as i am having fake flowers they have agreed that i can have rose petals on the aisle as i walk up it.

I'm glad you have found somewhere else. This happened recently on the Island as well, but it was not arson, it was a very old castle that was having a wedding and they let fireworks off on the roof and the building caught fire. So awful. A couple of other venues have stepped in and offered their help for those who had weddings booked but it's not the same is it especially when you have your heart set on something.
