    This is bad!
I am going to the nec on sunday which i am really excited about and have really been looking forward to. However worryingly i seem to have done something to my back. My lower back is in incredible pain, to the point where it is very painful to walk, i was nearly in tears doing the school run earlier :(
I have a heat pad on it right now and will be having a hot radox bath later but am dreading it still hurting to walk by sunday :(

I fell off my bike on Sunday and am on crutches now but am still going to the NEC on Saturday - you can book a mobility scooter there, if that helps? x

Diclofenac (sp) will help to get any swelling down which may be trapping something. You can get something over the counter but can't remember what it is called off hand with it in but your doc can prescribe you the same thing in the stronger form. Tens machines are ace for helping with the pain too. I would go and get it checked out though just in case you have slipped a disc or something.

i know how you feel...i had a car crash 5 years ago and badly damaged my back and it still hurts to this day and there is nothing that can be done! my spine isnt straight any more and i chipped a small bone in my neck. i get really bad days where i strugglet o get out of bed and can hardly move. just take it easy and if you are bending down bed with your knees and not your back as this will help.

my doctor told me not to take too many painkillers with my back as you think it is back to normal and not hurting and then you move without realising and it can make it worse so be careful if you take stong painkillers xx

Soothing massage from a loved one, that'll do it.
And if NEC gets too unbearable, how about a slow stroll round the fair at Rogerthorpe Manor?

Right i have taken several steps and hopefully should all be ok.
    1) have a cocktail of drugs from dr (saw one on thursday), including naproxen, diclofenac and diazepam so will be dosing my self up on the way up there.
    2) have neurofen heat pads to stick on my back
    3) have bought support underwear under the theory that if they support your yummy and waist there must be some suport on your lower back as well.
    4) am going to be so excited looking round at everything will take my maind off any niggles
Hopefully with all these in place it should prove to be a relatively painless, very enjoyable day :D

try having a shower, hot, and just stand in it for an hour or so, this should help more than having a bath as you dont need to worry about standing back up.

a proper york back support is good too.

keep moving! dont rest as others suggest, if you rest your muscles and joints will seize up and cause you more pain in the long term

    sit against a wall

do on your hands and knees stick bum in air the put bum to floor staying on hands and knees like thrusting in mid air

drink plenty of water to help release toxins in back

have a massage with lavender oil as this releases toxins in back

failing that try tiger balm the orange stuff is best

i hadca metal bar taken to my back 11yrs ago and all of these things work for me as i have ongoing severe chronic back pain i have even had ops on it. im 23 and have a walking stick, if my family make any old lady jokes i hit them with my walking stick!

Yup I agree with the not resting too much Katya as it is the worst thing you can do. You need to keep doing gentle stretching exercises. I find using a gym ball helps me.

My dr told me not to rest it for those reasons, and gave me a sheet of exercises to do. :) Becky, I am not taking neurofen orally as dr told me not to while on the other pills she gave me, she said the heat patches were ok as they werent the drug just the heat so they're fine.
Katya sorry to hear about what happened to you, thats awful. I had to use a walking stick when pregnant with my youngest as developed problems with my joints (probably coz he was so blooming big for my at the tie size 6 frame lol)
I also wouldnt hesitate to hit someone, but fear i might get stranded at the nec if i hit fil2b tomorrow ;)

yeh i was a 6 before my eldest, went from a 6 before to a 22 after, then with my youngest went from a 22 before to a 16 after and have now got down to a 14 through running around after the two boys.

after nec try going for short walks, round the block a couple of times in one hit, if it takes you and hour so be it, do it nice and gentle, i promise it may feel as though you are prolonging the pain but its less likely to come back.

what did you do? twist wrong? lift wrong?

and yeh its caused alot of problems as i have ow dropped both my boys trying to put them in their cot at various points. fortunetly Xander is 3 now and doesnt need carrying for anything (except in snow as it scares him-strange child) but dante is 1 and still in a cot so if i try to put him in it i either drop him or hold on so tight to him so i dont drop him and scream my heart out til someone comes into the house to save me! iv had the police round cos neighbours were concerned about the screaming, they came in as doors were unlocked and helped to move me taking dante out of my arms first. its embarrassing but i cant physically move myself in those situations half the time so would rather feel embarrassed having cops called out for that then explaining it to my neighbours later on telling them to feel free to come into the house when they hear that.

fortunetly my cousin is visiting from the states and so he is helping me out alot when dean is at work.

dont be sorry about it as your name is not abbi lemmon or jade goodwin and you didnt go to school with me, live next door to me, and you didnt take the bar to my back just "because".

That sounds awful for you! :(
I have no idea what i have done, i cant think of anything specific it could have been, but the dr said my lower back has gone into spasm thats whats causing the pain.
I kind of know how you feel though katya, though i havent any lasting physical damage, i was pushed down a flight of metal stairs at my old school by bullies, and then beaten up when i was pregnant with my daughter and the emotional / phsychological damage has been irrepairable. :(

Well i am up, managed to get my support shorts on and all ready to go, was up at 6:30 :D
