ok heres my problem we went out to stamford the other day which is a very old town and has some beautiful old buildings and on the way we went past a hotel that looks just amazing! It looks like a really old ancestral home made into a hotel. The grounds are huge, greenery as far as the eye could see and gorjus gardens. And thats just looking at it from the car! So my question is this do i risk going in to look as ive already kinda paid a deposit on somewhere else (paid £250 on a £500dp) or do i do nothing and always wonder????? I know they do weddings as h2b's work collegue is getting married there in August he found out yesterday (see even h2b likes it cause hes talking about it lol) ARRRRRGGGHHHHH i dont know what to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-(

wont hurt to go along and have a look. and if you do decide this is the venue of your dreams then get married there! why not? you should only have the best for your wedding and not settle for anything else. if its worth losing the £250 then go for it id say. u could always cut the cost from somethin else?x

Go and see it, get quotes etc. You may not like it when you look a bit closer.

im just scared cause its about 20 mins outside of peterborough...............mind you saying that nobody lives in peterborough apart from us anyway so 20 mins extra travel time wont hurt lol. Mmm think im gonna send for a brouchure and take it from there. H2b is gonna kill me lol

my venue is an hour away, more than that for quite a few guests. they dont seem to mind. dont worry bout it x
Is is the Lady Anne's Hotel Hails? I would go for it and find the prices out then sit down with your h2b and way up the pros and cons of your existing venue and this new venue and hopefully you will both come to the same agreement. Good luck. x

Thanks ladies! Yeah Spooney i think, do you know it?? Ive just spoke to the h2b at work and he cant remember if its that one or sibson hotel on the a1 lol. men. Ive ordered a brochure so will go through everything when it comes and see which is better :-) Im all excited now lol

No I dont know it but had a wee look like you know I always do as im best mates with google lol, and thought out of all the hotels in Stamford that one sounded like the one you described and also it is definitely gorgoeus inside and out. If you look it up online hails it has a pricing brochure that you can print off or download and save rather than waiting for the post and then you could talk to h2b tonight instead of a few days time. x

I would go and have a look and Stamford is so easy to get to from the A1 which might be handy depending on where people are travelling from. Stamford itself is lovely as well as you know!
If I remember rightly from their info they also do an exclusivity option where they won't take any bookings on that day but that does incur an extra cost.
l would go and look, and if you can afford to lose the deposit on the other place so be it, at least you will have your dream venue if you don't go you will kick yourself! x
