FINALLY got our invites last night. I really wanted the daytime invite to be out at 12 weeks but want doesn't always get! Started to give out the evening invites in work and one of my colleages quietly whispered to one of the other guys the date was missing. I can't believe it! The daytime invites are perfect, I proof read the evening ones just last night, so did h2b and so did the printer who just so happens to be a close friend of h2b who is doing us the favour of the invites. I did have a little moment when my work colleagues thought I was going to go mental, I did go rather red and felt pretty stupid as I've got no-one to blame but myself. I think I dealt with it pretty well in the whole grand scheme of things, my chief bm rubbing me up the wrong way at the dress fitting on tuesday and then being told the shoes I had were too high for the dress, told getting dress home that day with no warning and 10 weeks to the wedding and now this. It's not a disaster, no-one is hurt or worse off and to be honest the majority of evening guests are aware of the date. H2b is fuming and wants a reprint, is refusing to hand his invites out unless they are perfect. Hmph. And I thought I was the bridezilla! There is so much going on right now that this pales into insignificance to me. I made a typo on one of the printed envelopes for the full day, I've got about 6 guests with the same surname but not related, one guy i've known for years will not be going as his ex, my best pal, will be there so somehow I put his initial. Don't have the energy to reprint it so tipex and pen to the rescue. Doesn't look bad but I have the guilt of knowing I mucked it up slightly. I rented my flat out for a year to save money and got it back last month after it was destroyed by the tenant using it as a cannabis factory, nearly finished fixing it but it's cost nearly £1k of the saved money for the wedding which needs to be paid to the wedding soon so slight panic, agents are liable but no idea how long we'll need to wait for the money. So it is all go and that little mistake really doesn't make for a full scale strop me thinks!

Yeah we went back to h2b's mate and got inserts done so we can stick them ontop of the original ones but turned out to be that the daytime ones were the same and we only found that out at about 10pm on Friday night. The incident will be forever etched in my head as "invite gate"! After I got VERY upset that it was on the daytime invites too, or rather wasn't on them!, we decided to just issue small cards like our save the dates making fun of the fact that we'd kept the guests in suspense of the date (not that we'd forgotten it). Oooft, swear to god this has been a nightmare. As I'd said before, no-one has been hurt (very nearly though!) and I've been getting ruddy texts, emails and fb messages telling me that the date is missing. GRRRR!

Oh no that is awful but at least you have come up with a good plan to rectify it. Its so easy to make silly mistakes on them. I had printed out the seventieth rather than seventeenth and we only noticed as we had stuck most of them in. We manage to rescue them and re do them but it was such a pain.

becky, I know! My h2b's bessie is a printer by trade and is totally run off his feet but I've been needling him now for about 3 months to get them started and so to get us out of his hair he asked us to come on Thursday to the shop to help with them. I proof read them as did his other printer and my H2B so we are all to blame. We missed it cos we all knew the date and weren't looking for it on the invite but the spelling and layout. NIGHTMARE! This is where I wish we'd gone elsewhere and actually paid as we'd have had them ages ago and any issues would have been found. Can't complain too much as we have managed to salvage it and it has given h2b a great opening for his speech but did cause a very fraught moment when he gave me the look that it was my fault. That was the first time we had let anything affect us about the wedding, if you see my other posts re family/dress/shoes you will see what I mean! Thankfully we both have calm and logical natures and will try not to sweat the small stuff. I just want him to be healthy on the day and for him to turn up! lol xx
