Hey Kirsty! You are so organised! Your meal sounds lush I love meze. I haven't had the menu choices from he hotel yet and probably won't get them til closer to the time but I can't wait to pick the food.

What's the dress like? I keep meaning to go visit mine as I'm starting to forget what it looked like. I've got some pictures though which is good.

We're not doing anything more wedding now til after Christmas. My mum and Dad are in cyprus at the moment and Rob's parents are flying over there Monday to have a holiday with them. Whilst they're there they are going to sort out the wedding transport so hopefully in a couple of weeks I'll know how I'm getting from home to the hotel!

One of my bridesmaids is pregnant at the moment so we can't get her organised until after she pops and the boys want light summery clothes to wear and there's nothing in the shops for that at the moment so will have to wait til next year.

Only 8 months to go now though!!!!

    Hi Ladies,

Sorry not been on for a while hectic few weeks at work, I think there is about 30 joining us in Cyprus but some of them are kiddies. I think the idea is book the holiday/ hotel and ceremony then re-asses the reception once we have confirmed numbers and I can talk to the wedding planner. So the next 6months we are under lock and key in attempt to save as much as possible ready for when the prices are released. Luckily its winter so I tend to enjoy hibernating anyway so shouldnt be too difficult. Sounds like you 2 are well on your way to being sorted :-) Did you try on the ring??? Wish my wedding was 8months away!!!

    Hi Ladies,

My best friend got married this year in August in Paphos Cyprus, it was a yatch wedding and it was beautiful! The company she used were really helpful, always had someone to hand and very accomadating when she wanted to change/amend details to her day.

So for all your brides thinking of doing it really is a great day and we got a holiday out of it too! Good luck!

Hi, we are getting married in Kos but we booked through the travel agent, we were told the wait to find out our date would be 6/8 weeks and I was so impatient at that point, 2 weeks later we had all the paperwork through confirming out date! Sometimes they just tell you the worst scenario so that you don't ring up complaining, or if you book in a busier season like summer I guess the wait might be a while longer xx

    Hello Ladies.

It's been so long since I've been on here, wedding planning got put on hold for a bit over Christmas etc but now that there's less than four months to go we're back into the swing of things.

Most stuff for Cyprus is all organised. Just need to sort out what H2B and the boys are going to be wearing. I've got my Mum & Dad coming to visit us next week (they live overseas) so have booked an appointment at the bridal shop so my Mum can see my dress and help me pick out a veil.

Got my bridesmaid her dress a couple of weeks ago. Found one in the sale at Debenhams for £16! Best wedding bargain so far!

Party back home organising is going well. Got the venue booked, a local brewery. Band booked and some extra tables and chairs organised.

Had a mild panic yesterday regarding the paperwork for Cyprus as H2B is so awkward! Adopted and divorced. Sent everything we have over to the town hall in Limassol though and they have confirmed everything is in order. Also my friend who is a conveyancer has asked one of the solicitors in her firm if he'll swear our affadavits for us so we don't have to pay for that. Yay!

It's my 30th birthday in a couple of weeks and I had said to everyone to just ignore it as I really wasn't too fussed and as we were having the wedding this year I would prefer for people to go all out for that rather than fuss with my birthday. This has of course been completely ignored and I'm now having a birthday meal with 20 people, a night on the town and H2B has bought me a special present. From the hints he's been dropping: "The wind will flow through your hair", "You'll feel alive when you do it", "When I did it I loved it", I think he has paid for me to do a tandem sky dive! I've always wanted to do one which he knows and he did plenty of sky diving when he was in the army. I'm really hoping it is that now because I've got myself all excited for it!

How's everyone else's planning going? Heidi great news about going back for your first anniversary. I'm sure it will help loads with the relationship. You could do a location photo shoot at one of the castles or some ruins. Or how about a trash the dress shoot? Get a cheapo white dress and both jump in the ocean!

Anyhoo... I'll try and remember to come back here more often but generally I'm useless!

    xx

    Hi Ladies

Tegan - Lovely to hear from you! Not long now, its coming round fast, bet it is all starting to feel more real now.

My planning is going great considering we aren't getting married until next May :-) But I have a busy 2nd half of the year so my plan is to get everything sorted as much as i can now then I can sit back relax and just enjoy living my last few months a Miss!

I have been dress shopping and finally narrowed it down to 2 dresses (Dress shopping is so hard!!) so taking my mum and MIL with me to help make the final decision, I have found my BM dresses and currently getting them made in China so fingers crossed they work out ok! I also have a sample of the invitation. So all I am really waiting for is Thomson to release 2014 pricing so we can get it booked. I am nervous that we might struggle to get the location etc as people are booking direct with Hotel but until flights are released we cant really do that. Hoping it will be in the next 6weeks.

Where in Cyprus is everyone getting wed? Anyone recommend a good photographer? xx

    Hey Natalie

Sounds like your well on your way!

Have you thought about booking direct with the hotel and just getting your flights when they come out? At least you'd be guarenteed your location. However I think a lot of people will be in the same boat as you so wouldn't panic too much.

I loved dress shopping, I'm very jealous as I would love to do it all again!

There's loads of photographer's to choose from out in Cyprus. Just beware if you are booking through a tour operator you may have to use the photographer they work with, also some hotels only let you use their own photographer. I've popped something on your wall which should help you in your search and with your planning too.

    xx

    Hi all,

I am new to this site and would really like some advice please. I am getting married on the 19th June 2013 at the Nissi Bay Hotel in Ayia Napa. After having paid the deposit for the reception, the wedding planner has not been in touch since. I am getting a little worried because I feel like I haven't organised anything! A few people have said not to worry - that everything gets sorted once I am at the hotel, however I feel like I'm a sitting duck ready to be ripped off. The wedding planner has sent me a price list of things but it only has very basic information, e.g. bride bouquet, bridemaids bouquets and button holes. There is also a price for the wedding cake but no further information. Am I stressing over nothing or should I be more assertive? I have asked him on three occasions to give me more information, e.g. to send me details about the size of the cake, type of cake, decorations details etc but he hasn't been too helpful. He just said it is a sponge cake but I can have a fruit cake if I pay extra. Any advice as to what I should be doing would be much appreciated!!! If anyone has gotten married at the Nissi Bay, please please could you message me so that I have an idea of what to do and what I don't need to do. I have been told that the venue will be dressed - all in white linen though. I have asked about centre pieces, flowers etc, but keep being told that can be sorted when I arrive. Should I do some prep myself - take decorations out to Cyprus, or is it not worth it? HELP please!!!

Hey Courtenay. A lot of the finishing touches will be organised when you get out to Cyprus. Things like flowers will all be picked when you get out there. Same with any special decoration you want for the cake.

I'm taking out some coloured chair sashes as my venue is the same, they will provide the white linen. Other than that I'm just brining myself, H2B, our outfits and our rings!

One of the joys of having a wedding planner is not having to worry about all the organising, so put your trust in them, try and relax and focus on the things you can be sorting, stuff like:

Music choices for walking up the aisle, signing register etc.
    First dance song
Speeches if you're going to do one
    Wedding dress
    Shoes
    Honeymoon bikini
    Gifts for your wedding party
    Gift for your groom
Party back home if you're having one
    All your legal paperwork
    Wedding rings
    Hair and make up trials
    Hen do
    Bridesmaids
Compile a list of must have wedding shots

You're planner will have everything under control but if there is something particular you want or need to know make sure you let them know. Just remember Nissi is a massively popular wedding destination so he probably has at least 100 brides to deal with before your wedding, just make sure you are polite and assertive, but do put your trust in them. Cyprus is very different to the UK, things don't need to be booked 20 months in advance. The most likely scenario is the florist knows when your wedding date is and will be expecting your choices a few days before so they can get it organised. Sign up to a website like p interest so you can start compiling ideas of your favourite flowers, hairstyles and make up. That way when you get there you can show them what you like straight away and it'll all be sorted.

And lastly, enjoy that you've only got 3 months to go!

    Xx

    Hey

I am new on here and been to the travel agents and 'provisionally booked' our wedding venue- Cyprotel Cypria Bay on the Pier. We should find out if we have our date a week on Saturday and we cannot wait! We are booking our wedding through Thomas Cook, and have seen some fantastic reviews; but as with all venues and travel agents, there has been some poor reviews about both. I am not really worried as TripAdvisor has good reviews mainly but would appreciate if anyone has any advice or experience dealing with either the hotel or the travel agents.

So nervous! Feel like we are sitting ducks until the dates and prices come out for the hotel!!

Also another quick question- how are you planning on getting your dress ect over? I have been looking at wedding boxes but wondering if it is worth it or not.

    Hi Ladies,

Congratulations on your up coming weddings, I hope you are enjoying the planning :-)

Sharon - I am booking mine through the travel agents only because of the current financial situation i think a travel agent here in UK could offer more protection, however I have heard it takes longer to get your confirmed wedding date etc so I think its purely down to your own personal preference. I am getting married May 2014 at the Olympic Lagoon, Nissi Bay if all goes to plan, I believe we can book with travel agents at the end of April.

Sarah - My Dress maker has recommended buying one of the small hand luggage suitcases and she has offered to pack my dress in that along with my shoes, veil, tiara and any other bride related attire. She said they offer more protection then the boxes and can use them again, which I thought was a good idea.

Hi all - thank you Tegan for your reassurance and response! I am leaving it to the will of the gods and feel that at the end of the day, the most important thing is that my partner and i are getting married. All the rest is just trimmings that isn't worth worrying over - especially as I have a new baby to look after!

I have ordered my dress, booked the reception and wedding photographer, decided on my colour scheme (blush pink, blush blue and cream) flowers (carnations mixed with angels breath) and will be getting the rings in the next couple of weeks. I will also be having my bridesmaids dresses made in China - so fingers crossed they will work out! Zoe - I am going with DC Photography - originally I wanted to use Craig Beck but he is booked up all of this year! DC Photography does reportage shooting so he takes very natural shots of everything going on rather than 'staged shots'. He is more expensive than Craig Beck however fingers crossed he will be worth it! Here are the links: LINKS REMOVED - PLEASE READ THE RULES AS NO LINKS ARE ALLOWED ON THE FORUM!!! THANKS, MODS.

Can I ask - what are people doing in terms of suits? hiring and taking over or buying? What is the etiquette - should we be paying for the best man and groomsmen as well? We went to greenwoods to try on some styles and I must say - I think I prefer a normal suit to tails or the 3/4 length - what is everyone else wearing?

    Hi Courtney!

You are absolutely right, the day is about you and your H2B the rest is an added bonus! My H2B is wearing a beige linen suit (just a plain one) We are paying for the Best Man and Groomsmens outfits to as they are only wearing matching suit pants to the groom but then just white shirts with possibly trilby hats so it wont cost much in the grand scheme of things.
I got my BM dresses from China and they are fab! Made up with them! How many are travelling out to Cyprus with you?

Hi Kirsty, Its a certificate of no impediment or something, did you get it sorted?

Well i have finally booked my wedding in cyprus (or at least the holiday and requested the wedding date) We are flying out to the Olympic Lagoon in Nissi Bay on 18th May 2014 and i can not wait!! It was rather stressful booking it as the room allocation in that hotel was dramatically decreasing whilst we were there so we have only managed to get my parents, his parents and my MOH in our hotel, the rest will have to stay elsewhere!

I have requested to marry on 23rd May and i am so worried that i might not get it and unfortuantly it will take up to 6weeks for this to be confirmed, does anyone know any tips on how i can speed this up.

    Hi all,

Sorry for the late reply - we've had a much needed 3 week holiday and only just got back! I had the dresses made in China - they look great altough a few are a bit long so I'll have to have them shortened. Considering they were only £35 each I can't complain!

Natalie - did you book via an operator or direct with the hotel? Initially I was going to book through Thomas Cook however they told me I had the pay a deposit first to secure the booking before they would check with the hotel if the date I requested was available. They said that if the date wasn't avavilable, they would then secure dates as close to my chosen date as possible. They also told me it would take a few weeks to get back to me once I had paid the deposit. I wasn't happy with this so decided to email the hotel directly. The wedding planner of the hotel got back to me that day so I ended up booking everything directly with the hotel instead. If you've booked already with an tour operator that doesn't matter - I'm sure you can still enquire with the hotel whether they have availability on the day you want, and they get back to your TO with their response!

Kirsty - my wedding planner at the hotel said I needed an affadavit from a solicitor on letter headed paper to certify I am free to marry. Both you and your partner need to take a copy.

I've got a few things sorted now - dresses, h2b suits, wedding favours, photographer, pre wedding pictures, shoes, veil, accessories...now I need to sort out decorations, rings, affadavit....the list is endless! Arrrrgh!

Hope you are all gettng stuck in and enjoying your planning!

oooops - sorry, forgot to reply your question Natalie! The wedding party is around 50 now! My in laws-to-be decided to pay for all their family to go out - (nice of them - but expensive for us since my partner and I are paying for the wedding ourselves!!!)

Do you think I've been cheeky - I've asked all the groomsmen and the best man to just wear a plain black suit. I will be buying bow ties for them and buttonholes - so they should be co-ordinated right?

My OH is wearing black tails for the ceremony then changing into a grey morning suit...

Hi all! Gemma - I'm a Nissi Beach bride to be too - I'm flying in in less than a month now - still so much to do! How about you? Are you all sorted? Are you leaving everything to Marios to sort out? I've ended up doing a lot myself - I've made my own wedding favours, taking out tisuue pom poms, bought own button holes and wrist flowers for bridesmaids, guest book, small decorations. I think the only things I'm leaving to Marios is the garden flowers - but I'm going to ask for flowers that match my wedding colours (which at the last minute had to be changed to purple! so gutted!!!). I'm still undecided about chair sashes as well - should I bring my own or pay the 2.5euro that they charge? Tegan - can I ask where you bought your chair sashes from? I've had a look on ebay and there is so much choice I'm feeling quite overwhelmed! I've also found my own photographer rather than using the hotel recommended one.

Is anyone sorting out flowers themselves? Which florist have you gone to? I originally wanted alliums as table decorations and in my bouquet, thankfully I went to an interflora to check them out! It turns out they are from the onion family so in hot weather they can leave quite a pong! On top of that, they stain BADLY as well!!! So that's that out of the question! I also wanted peonies - however Marios said that because they are an imported flower, they are very expensive....sigh....what do I do? Do you think it's expensive because I am going through a wedding planner or are flowers generally very expensive???!!!

I've still to sort out the music - what is everyone having for their first dance? I don't listen to music much so struggling to find a meaningful song!

Sorry Kirsty, I'm not sure about affadavit - we were able to get a family friend to do it - may be ask around?##

Sorry for asking so many questions - I'm flapping around trying to sort everything out so any help would be appreciated!

    Hi Gemma!

I'm not part of that group - I didn't even know it existed :P I've sent a request to join though so fingers crossed I will be accepted.

I just wet to the card factory and bought table confetti - but I havent sorted out my confetti for the guests as were walking down the aisle...something I need to sort out soon!

I had to change because my mum went to make a dress - and chose to use pink. My colour scheme was pink and blue...and in our culture ur not supposed to wear blue as a main colour...hence I had to change it to purple instead! Nightmare but it's all sorted now so never mind!

I'll try findong you on FB :)

    Thnks!

    Hi,

We're not getting married in Cyprus, but that's where we want to go on honeymoon. H2B is talking about having a renewal of vows when we're there, and I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this? I don't know if it's possible, but he's really keen on the idea. Although our wedding day is going to be perfect (of course!), a lot of it is for our families, and we want something that will be private and romantic, that's just for us.
