I know there are a few brides on here having a blessing or are thinking about renewal of vows ceremonies after their wedding.
I thought it would be nice to have a spot where we can share pictures and ideas. It may also be useful for anyone considering this type of ceremony to find out what's involved.

Our date is now booked for our 1st anniversary for our blessing/renewal of vows - however our local church calls this a 'Thankgiving for marriage service'
I have included an outline as detailed on the CoE website, although there are other types of services and types of locations for this type of ceremony.

Thanksgiving for Marriage: An Outline

Introduction
1, Welcome
2, Prayer of Preparation
3, Preface
4, Readings
5, Psalms, Songs or Hymns
6, Sermon

Renewal of Vows
7, The couple(s) are invited to renew their marriage vows in a suitable form.
8, A ring or rings may be blessed.
9, Prayers are offered, including prayers of thanksgiving and blessing.
10, Dismissal - Prayer for the couple and the congregation.

I think it's as popular as ever, especially with those of us getting married abroad. Why should the excitement of planning stop after we are married - this keeps us here so much longer! lol I am having a small intimate blessing, just family. We have our original intended church and are thinking along the lines of Devonshire cream teas and cakes as a mini reception afterwardds on the Devon coast.

Oh I would love a mad hatters theme, if you do have this you will have to post photographs, I would love to see them. I am under strict instructions I'm not allowed to get carried away with plans this time! lol

It is a tea rooms with outside area overlooking the sea, Plymouth hoe and the Plymouth eye (like the london one but not as big) will find a pic. If Steve and I are brave enough we may have a go on it. We want a daytime reception only, as we plan to go for a short weekend break that night. Either Milan or Barcelona. Mainly dictated as they have famous football grounds! As long as I get to see some sights I will be happy.

I absolutely love your venue, amazing views. I think you's will go on it, it's a must. I like the sound of the short weekend break too.

Yes you should really be concentrating on your wedding lol, it will be here in no time!

I can never get hold of the vicar which is a pain in the ass cause atm we have provisionally booked 7th july this year, but cant afford it so hopeing to get 8th may 2013 with any luck :) xx

Im biased as i dont like spicy food haha sorry

It will be a mixture of food Heidi but 60% spicy & African food :-)

We have gone with African - been busy all day looking at invitations & chair covers! Geeee it's exhausting lol.

Our colours abroad are burnt orange & raspberry pink so I will incorporate these into the blessing & maybes pop some chocolate brown in there too x

For cyprus we dont, but for our blessing i think we will be going for our original colour scheme which was a deep purple ...
When we were going to marry in plymouth i had pretty much chosed page boys suit & bridesmaid dress (which had purple in them, thats what made me choose the colour lol)

I use to but not really anymore well untill I saw a gorgeous purple waistecoat next to a purple and whie bridesmaid dress
