    Hey ladies,

I've been slacking a bit for the last couple of weeks but we too have now more or less sorted our stds!

I've made a design on vi$t@ print and having them printed as portrait orientated business cards - just waiting for delivery of them. We've also ordered some mini magnets from the bay of e which were going to glue on the back to make magnets if folks want to put them on the fridge etc. will post a piccy once we've got them.

Planning on sending them in Christmas cards in November to save some pennies on postage

Oh no was it an emergency trip to hobbycraft? D:

You are so right about the invitations - I am getting worried about STDs, let alone getting the invites together! I guess the way to do it is to break it down over two or three days, 18 hour invitation-making stint does not sound fun.

It was yeah. Ran out of tape pens! 1 6m one did about 10 max... Got 3 with 22m on so sorted now.

It should be quite easy to break down. One day scoring the base then split the inserts/ pockets into different sections. Will be a lot of smaller days I think

Well... hello again lovely ladies! Hope everyone's plans are coming along nicely.

I have a suspicion that after tomorrow I will be jumping aboard the 2017 train again! I started my wedding planning career on this board but jumped to the 2016 board after an impulsive 'I can't wait that long moment'. Our dream venue was Longleat House in Wiltshire, which we changed to Beaulieu to bring the cost down and the wedding closer. After a little break from wedding planning, OH and I discussed what we really wanted. We want the dream... New Year's Eve at Longleat House. Why shouldn't we have our dream wedding? To be honest, I love wedding planning so much (as does OH) that we are more than happy to do it for a bit longer.

We are visiting Longleat House tomorrow. Am soooooo excited!

I love the idea of a NYE wedding too! It's quite a difficult thing to organise though. Longleat was amazing, but it didn't feel right. I am now having serious venues issues. I don't know what I'm looking for anymore. We love Beaulieu. They can do NYE which is great, but I want the evening reception to be held somewhere like a hotel to make it easier for guests with children. I have 3 myself and know how gutting it is when you have to leave somewhere because the kidlets need to go to bed. We're going to look at a venue called Rhinefield House on Saturday which seems to have it all so fingers crossed.

    Hello, welcome and congratulations Laura!

Well... we have made some decisions! We will be getting married on Friday 14th April 2017 at Beaulieu. It would've been my parent's 38th wedding anniversary. They can't be with us on our special day, so what better way to honour them. It feels so right. We will have the ceremony and drink reception at Beaulieu. Next step is to find a lovely little hotel in the forest for our wedding breakfast and evening reception.

We went to the Bournemouth Pavilion Wedding Show yesterday. So much fun! Found some local suppliers too which is fab.

    Hi Laura, congratulations!

I've made some progress the last two weeks, booked the photographer who has agreed to let us pay in monthly instalments which I find easier than trying to save it all up. Also booked a lady to do the cake as we knew we wanted her, only paid a small deposit and will sort out details closer to the time.

I've also done a mock up of the invitations (I've uploaded a photo on my profile if anyone is interested). Couldn't get kraft paper that would print at home so ended up using parchment card to test but as we all liked it decided to stick to this card. Having a few difficulties securing the ribbon to the lace though, any ideas?

Hello everyone, I'm Donna and I will hopefully be getting married on 2nd September 2017 on the 5 year anniversary of our first date. It's my 2nd marriage, but 1st time for OH. We have finally decided on a church wedding and are waiting for an appt to meet the vicar soon. Nothing has been booked yet but have lots of ideas, it's making me feel better to see other people planning so far in advance as I had thought that it might be too soon.

Hi all!! Long time no chat from me again sorry... I have a good excuse tho! We've been on our first family holiday abroad!! Took our 2 year old to Majorca for 9 days and had a brilliant time. Sad to be home but have some great memories to treasure. also been busy at work with Xmas just around the corner I'm full steam ahead with getting everything planned and prepared. Going to be a busy few months for me.
Haven't done anything wedding related for a few weeks however since getting back from our holiday h2b and I have started discussing our honeymoon. we both love the idea of somewhere like the Maldives and we think we should have about £3-4k to spend, we just want somewhere we can totally relax and feel like were in paradise so any suggestions totally welcome!!
I have just skimmed through the posts from the past few months so hello and welcome to all the new b2b joining us on the 2017 thread.... it's getting ever closer!! And welcome back Lady C!
    Hope everyone is well xx

We are still looking at venues. We want somewhere with a church feel for the ceremony, and a hotel with marquee for the wedding breakfast and evening reception. We absolutely love Beaulieu! Have an appointment Tuesday to look at a hotel just down the road from there with a huge ballroom. Thinking we could get venue decorators to put up ceiling and wall drapes to give a marquee effect. We need to save £1500 deposits to secure both venues. Will feel so much more real when we officially have the date.

Have you got an evening venue in mind?

Well we are hopefully we can also have the evening reception at St Bernards Church because a nice lady from the church showed me and my H2B around the church. She said we could have the wedding there and if we would like to then we could use the hall as a reception but we would have to spoke to the main person to sort out the details. We are waiting for her to get back to us. However we do know that a service is about £400 because the lady that showed us around gave us some rough quotes for the service.

We have actually found another venue which is much nearer to where we live. It's perfect! It's called St@nst3d P@rk (LINK REMOVED). Have emailed asking to view it this week.

Mrs D2B - We are only going to be able to have a 2 night honeymoon because of the children. Thinking probably Paris.

We're going on a family trip to D1sneyl@nd Paris when the inheritance from my dad's house sale goes through with my brother and his kidlets. Unfortunately we don't have anyone we can leave the children with for a week really. They go to their biological dad's every other weekend so that's the only opportunity we'll get.

Thanks Mrs D2B and congratulations to you too. Me and my H2B haven't decided on a honeymoon but our 3 months old son Joshua would be about 2 years old when we get married so we might not have a honeymoon because of our son. Although we could have a week honeymoon whilst his grandparents look after him but I doube and my H2B would be have to stay away from Joshua for a week, I only for sure that I couldn't anyway being our first child together. But we could always have a week honeymoon at the hotel in Dudley called the Village Inn because it's really nice there. I would definitely recommend it to friends and family.

Hi Emily!! How's thing's going for you?
Ok so have just started a thread to ask for advice on this anyway but would also like to ask you ladies personally too as I'm sure this is something you are thinking about or will be thinking about very soon
I have just been quoted £310 for someone to dress my venue for me, this includes 65 chair covers & organza sashes ,
8 centre pieces, full candy cart or ferris wheel candy cart with pic n mix & bags- scoop, sign & bag holder hire included, 8 table runners, post box, wishing tree, prop box hire, 8 table number holders, 65 personalised love heart favour packs and table scatters.
To be honest I don't need the prop box so will probs cut that out and I'm not really bothered by the post box and candy cart but might as well have them. I had originally planned to do the center pieces and set up etc myself but thinking about it I don't want to have to be rushing around the day before and on the morning of my wedding especially as I get really wound up when things don't look exactly as I expect them.
What are you doing in regards to dressing your venue? Are you paying out to have someone do this stuff for you? Is it worth it? And those who are doing it yourself are you glad you are? Or is it more hassle than it's worth?

    Evening all.

I went to visit Stansted House today... we have found our venue! H2B loved it so much he actually welled up bless him. They only need £700 deposit to secure the venue for the whole day too, which we could easily do in the next few weeks if we put our minds to it. Will take a lot more planning though as it means marquee hire, caterers, supplying alcohol ourselves. Have already spoken to a few suppliers on the venue's contact list and they know the place so well, as well as each other, that it should be fairly simple. We have also contacted the registrar to make an appointment with them. Soooooo exciting! It feels so real now.

EmilyV17 - Hello! Hope you are OK and planning is going well.

MrsD2B - That sounds like an amazing deal! To be honest, I am going to hire as many people as possible to do decorating etc for me. I just don't want the stress of it. I want to enjoy every single part of our day.

Mrs D2B- for the price that isn't so bad definitely for decorating your venue.
LadyC- it sounds like you have found yours and H2B perfect wedding.
EmilyV17- congratulations to you too. How's the wedding planning going? Me and my H2B is only just starting to do the wedding planning. At the moment we are talking through some ideas about the wedding like wedding guests, venue, reception and colour theme but to be honest I need some help with some wedding ideas if you and any other UKbride would like to share to help us to plan our prefect wedding day. Lady C that's fantastic you've found your venue! If your supplying alcohol do they charge corkage for wine? I only ask because we looked at a few venues which allowed us the supply our own but would still charge corkage, although we figured it wasn't an issue, if we had gone for one of those venues we figured we would buy 1 bottle of wine a week until the wedding (we shop at @ld1 and they have some pretty decent wine for less than £5 a bottle) and I would then soak off the labels and have our own "wedding" labels printed, would have meant we would have had over 100 bottles of wine and wouldn't have really noticed the cost.
JoanneH my best advice is first work out your budget, what do you have to spend and then work out where you want to spend it, then work out your guest list (as the number of guests you have will affect your venue) book your venue and then go from there giving yourself deadlines for each thing that needs to be booked start looking and have fun!!

I've not been good at all.. Mental health deteriated so went to my Drs pleading for help only to be told that the NHS limits treatment for mental health to 6 sessions max which he feels wont be beneficial. So after hearing that news I just broke down wrote him a 2 page letter about how its shocking that the NHS echos the stigma that mental health is viewed with. Took a couple of weeks off work and life in general to try to get my head around it and decide a plan going forward because there is no way we can afford private (would be £200 a month minimum). Still not sure what were going to do because I do need the support but made the decision that if I feel under pressure or am crying at the thought of leaving the house, I am not going to until I feel I can.
Thank you for asking xx (bet you wish you hadn't lol!)

Wedding planning has stopped after the STDs. giving our first one to my Aunt on Saturday before she goes home to America so that's exciting :)

Mrs D - I posted on the other thread that I would go for that if I were you.
Good idea about the wine. not sure how I wouldn't drink it though haha

Lady C - so glad that you have found your venue. I've got a bit confused. What is your date now? New year or April?

Joanna - that's a good place to start. I would say don't visit any venues until you have your guest list and budget done. then ask them to send you their price list so you can see if they are in your budget first. We were shocked what some venues were trying to charge for the state of their rooms etc. and some that we would have loved were wayyyy out of our price range. We found our perfect venue, £2k under budget off the quotes bit on here. Also, some rooms may be too big/small for your guest list so saves time that way. (but we did see some which could put up a partition wall to make the room the perfect size for you.

Emily that is shocking. I know it shouldn't be down to you to go searching but is there any support groups near you, or have a look on line, it's not a cure but talking to people in similar situations may help. And we are always here if you need to rant. I know you need more help than that but knowing there are people there for you that will listen and support you may provide some comfort and we are those people.

Thanks you Mrs D. I do try to keep my heath problems and general rants off here as it can get a bit much but thank you for the offer.

Since this morning when I wrote that I have had a call from the NHS mental health department saying that my GP had referred me to them. I asked when it came through and was told yesterday. so he must have done it following my letter.. makes me sick. why does he all of a sudden think its good enough. The lady on the phone was lovely and I explained what had happened at the GP and she said that there is an initial 12 sessions as standard maximum but there is another department which can give long term support if needed so there is no maximum like my GP said. Have an appt booked with them now. Got off the phone called OH and just cried.

The fact that he didn't know what he was talking about and gave me false information makes me feel like making a formal complaint but I don't think that I have the strength to do that at the moment. Might get OH to do it for me.

I have been on those forums and websites in the past and I agree about knowing there are other people in similar situations but I also find it hard reading their rants as I find it brings me down too.. its a catch 22 one really. if only it was acceptable to post your own ones and not read others. but that wouldn't be fair so I took myself off there years ago and wont join again.

Thank you for your kind words Mrs D. It does mean a lot to me. xxx

Emily im glad to hear you have now got somewhere with the mental health department and have found out the truth, its just a shame your doctor had to make you feel the way you have had to and you've had to go to the extreme of writing a letter of complaint for it to be dealt with xx

Thanks for the advice EmilyV17and Mrs D2B. What can me and my OH do have we sorted out a budget and get the venues that we want. What else is there to get? I know there's: flowers, invites, favors, rings, dresses, accessories and suit but is there anything else that I'm missing from that little list.

EmilyV17 - I feel your pain sweet. I was robbed of 5 years of my life by depression and social anxiety. Towards the end I was almost housebound. You will eventually see a light at the end of tunnel, I promise. You are on the right road. Also, my date is now 14th April 2017. It would be my parents 38th wedding anniversary and they have both passed away. Want to honor them on our special day by sharing theirs.

Mrs D2B - Spoke to one of the venues preferred caterers. They were amazing. We only have to supply drinks for during the day. No corkage, but £250 for the bar staff. They provide drinks for the evening and the prices are dirt cheap. We have a meeting with them in a couple of weeks so will know more then.

JoanneH4 - Have you got a wedding checklist? Have a little look at one and then make your own. Work out which things off it are a priority to you and how much of your budget you will dedicate to it. From your list, the thing missing which springs to mind is photographer and videographer.

    Ooops! Forgot my update...

Spoke to registrar today and it will cost £604 because we are getting married on Good Friday. You have to pay in full to book so will make that a priority to save for. Also had an initial quote from the marquee company. It's a pretty top spec quote... £8800! 20% deposit needed to secure date, which is about £3500! Crazy. Will shop around a bit on that one.

LadyC- No we haven't got a wedding checklist. Where could we get one to have a look at to help me and OH plan our wedding. Because I want to have the perfect wedding for me and my H2B
