So we are off to give notice tomorrow morning. I am not 100% sure where my dad lives or what his occupation is! Don't really know how to answer it! Gonna be fun tomorrow, but I'm sure they've had plenty of people be in a similar situation!

This layout is frustrating. I'm getting the same Mrs C! x

I've been on this forum since we got engaged in 2008 ad only got to 5 stars about 6 months ago! Took me ages!!

So giving notice was probably one of the easiest things I've ever done! The lady who we saw was lovely. We did get separated for about 10 minutes each but all we had to do was confirm who we are, date of birth, where we live and for how long and if I've been married before. She also asked if we could be related!

They asked what my father's name is and if I wanted to include him on the marriage certificate (I said no!)

So girls and boys, if you're worried about giving notice, don't be! To be honest, I was more excited than nervous!

Had a text message last week while we were on holiday, from the dress shop to say my dress has arrived.
I'm a little nervous to be honest, as I've completely gone off my dress.
It could be because my mom hasn't seen me in it - although she says she loves it from the pictures she has seen.

I'm going to see if I can go and try it on on my own, and then see if I can get my mom and dad to come down and try it on again. (we live 90 miles apart and she wasn't with me when I chose it and didn't really get "the Feeling")

Looking forward to becoming the 3rd and last Mrs McLauchlan

Maxine i think nerves are normal as its such a big decision. Some people dont get 'the feeling' but they feel beautiful and confident and love the dress. There must be something amazing about it for you to pick it :)

Why dont you take your mum with you so you can get her opinion? She might be able to clarify things for you and calm your nerves a little xx

Maxine, are you planning on wearing a veil, that is one of those things that helps getting 'the feeling'. I am sure it is the nerves but also this will be your dress as apposed to one everyone has tried on so that will also help x

See if you can get your mom to go the first time you go so that you can get her opinion and she can wash away your worries xx

I think my main concern is the invites - I can't finish those until I know the final choices for menu...but I guess I could get the others sorted out - work is absolutely manic at the moment and I just don't have 5 minutes to myself, plus we have a lot of work going on at home so never any peace there lol. I think I'll just have to tell OH that he needs to help out more!

I've still got to sort the invites out, the bridesmaid dresses, groomsmen outfits (we know what we're having but I'm just waiting for an offer before booking), rings, hen/stag do's, cakes, and probably more stuff that I haven't even acknowledged yet!

Lesley, your 307 days will fly by, trust me!

Mrs C I found a great website for finding our DJ, called n33dad1sco.com.

You put in your location/date etc. and available djs email you with quotes. Maybe do that to get some available people then your OH can choose which one he likes?

And thanks about the dress, I love it so much, always thought I'd go for lace but I just love the beading on it. It's not at all forgiving on my arms or shoulders though so doing arm toning workouts and working on my posture D:

Text not needed in the end as she emailed with a quote and a sketch of her own. Love her ideas. Brings in our favours and my dress detail lovely. Just frightening art £400 for a bit of sponge. How much is everyone else's cake costing?

Glad you like her design ideas Emily - and that she messaged you! Our cake is an M&S one. Think we'll go for the bigger one at about £200. Will decorate it ourselves.

Mrs C our florist quote is £35 per adult bm and £25 for teen bm, for smaller versions of my bouquet, so does seem extortionate!

Emailed about 12 printers yesterday haha fingers crossed at least one can print our invites the way we want for a reasonable price. Have had some questions back but no quotes yet.

Can't even bear to look at our to do list!

Just made a massive in depth to do list of next 5ish months broken down into tasks

It's two pages long but looking quite manageable now that it's sorted a bit better. Only a few tasks per month put this way.

To be fair I think the 750 quote was a very posh place that hand engraves a printing plate for you or whatever but I could probably buy a machine from China that does all that with that money, you're right Emily! Funnily enough the people I was looking at first have been both the quickest to respond and cheapest. They are sending some samples out today! Exciting.

Maxine I am so so pleased that your dress fits well and is right for you, so amazing! Funny how stressful these things can be at times, but it all works out in the end.

Been stressing a little bit about the hotel room I booked for the night before. It's right across from our church and has beautiful views from the windows, but since I booked (way back last year) they have refurbished, and my room has a dark maroon carpet and some deep red in the wallpaper. I know it sounds bridezillaesq but I'm worried it will clash a bit with our green/gold theme.

I've just emailed them asking if I can be moved to another room which is a more neutral grey and have more windows and light. I'm not sure how they'll respond, so waiting on them. Bit nervous they'll say no :\

Edit: VERY nervous they'll say no.

Heard back, they can't change the room :( I thought it might be the case because I'd asked for that room originally, apparently someone else already specifically requested it. It should be OK though, I might see if someone has a rug I can borrow to put by the window when I'm having pictures taken

So my future FIL called today to say that he had spoken to our venue about doing a surprise renewal of vows (as it's my future MIL's 70th birthday the next day) straight after we get married. Now we have no issue with this in itself. I just wished he'd asked us first before speaking to the venue. Luckily I'm not the sort of person who would object to it as I'm laid back with this sort of thing, but feel a little bit miffed by it. But that's how it's gone down!

So I was thinking about giving my MIL my bouquet to hold while they renew their vows but I would also like it back! I'm not sure how this is going to work. Unless I get 2 bouquets made, but not sure how that would work or how I would explain the 2nd bouquet?!! Does anyone have any suggestions?

Omg I have to say I'd be more than a little miffed about that. Surely the venue didn't say yes without contacting you about it though?

As for the flowers I'd go with your idea of loaning them to her but be really obvious like 'here, why don't you borrow mine?' with emphasis on the borrow :)

Had a good day today, went to the marriage preparation day at our church and was really lovely and very informative. We then popped to argoose to try on some rings to decide our designs for the workshop, in the end we both went for plain court shaped yellow gold bands.

Then when we got home samples from the printers were waiting, getting super excited about our invites now. I was intending to make it all ourselves but have decided to get our own design for the main invite part printed, then make the info, rsvp etc ourselves still.
