Joanna I hope you are able to track down the dress! Fingers crossed :)
MrsD and Sophie, good luck with your searches! I was a bit overwhelmed at the idea but then when I was at the wedding show I loved looking at tall the different styles available! You never know what you're going to end up with! Can't wait to start looking for mine but I want to wait until my older sis is all sorted with hers, soon, hopefully! x

Thanks FutureMrsW. I'm going to found out tomorrow about the dress whether or not if I can have it but the good news is if I can get it at the wedding shop in walsall then I will get it cheaper being it's on sale. Good luck to all brides who's searching for wedding dresses, I hope you find the dress of your dreams x

the idea of the "wow" moment scares me too as I worry that I'll find my dress but not realise it because I won't have that moment. Oh well this is just the first venture out hopefully to give me a better idea of what I like and what suits me

Speak to the assistants. They will be able to help massively. When I got mine I tried one very similar on and everyone was saying how much they loved it but she knew I wasn't happy came up and spoke to be about it then went away and I tried on the dress I bought. They will also point you towards different styles that I you might not have thought. Just remember there is no pressure to buy just yet x

I tried 6 dresses, 4 of them was okay but the other two (the two dresses in my photo album) was my favourites. I didn't know which one to go for until I had the tiara and the veil because the tiara and the veil helped me to get a real picture in my head which one stand out for me. I also had help of the seamstress to help me the dress. My dress when I had the veil and tiara on made me look and feel like a princess, even the seamstress was calling me princess Joanne lol x

Hi all,
I'm a newbie and I am getting married on the 20th May 2017. I am so excited about planning this wedding, we have had a very tough few years so this feels amazing to me! Venue and registrar all booked!! xx
Met in 1981, fell in love 2013, engaged 2015 and getting
married in 2017. It will have taken us 34 years to get
there but it will be so worth the wait! xxx

Thanks SophieTimins2B :) JoW750- hello and welcome to the 2017 thread. Congratulations on getting a date set for the wedding. If you need any help then just give us a comment and we will help you the best we can :) I've got some more good news- me and my H2B has a appointment with our venue on 6th November. So happy about it and about my dress :D

Welcome to UKBride JoW :) Looking forward to hearing all about your wedding planning. I see from your sig that your knew your OH for a long time before getting together, it was the same with my OH too. He still teases me sometimes about seeing 'the light' and the times I avoided him, like when I apparently refused to give him my number because my phone was 'in my bag' rofl How did you guys meet and end up getting together?
Joanna does this mean you were able to track down the dress after all? \o/ Hooray, so glad. What kind of venues are you both looking at?
We've finally booked a date to meet our (very busy) vicar near the end of November so excited about that.

That's great news Joanne! Welcome JoW750 Congrats FutureMrsW!
Been starting to get a little frustrated that we haven't heard from the Vicar of the church we want to get married at, and only getting his answering machine, only to find out that the poor thing has been in hospital....feel awful for being selfish!

Hi JoW! Congratulations! and welcome! Congratulations on the dress JoannaH! and great news MrsW 1 step closer to getting everything sorted! Sophie you weren't to know he was unwell, and it certainly doesn't make you selfish. At least you now know he's not just ignoring you and fingers crossed he makes a speedy recovery. So finally booked the engagement shoot will either be on the 21st or 22nd Nov (weather dependent). I need some idea's now! I want to use at least one of the photo's as an STD (will be made up as xmas cards and sent out dec 2016) and I'd like this photo to have my daughter in it. I was thinking maybe me a h2b in the background kissing under some mistletoe with LO in front of us holding a chalk board with the date on it but I don't know if this is too cheesy? Plus I'm not sure how well she's going to behave on the day and with the photo shoot taking place next to a lake I need to make sure she won't just run off. any other ideas?

I bought my dress yesterday! I didn't really intend to get it so soon but last weekend I popped into a dress shop for a browse and got over-excited and booked an appointment. Went to the appointment yesterday with my 3 bridemaids and MIL-to-be. My aim was to find out which styles suit me best so I can at least begin browsing online. But then I just kind of fell in love with the most perfect dress and put the deposit down there and then!
We've also booked the photographer now.

Thanks everyone. Yes, FutureMrsW I've got my dress sorted. The dress was originally £1595 now it's £750 because it's on sale. We are hopefully to have the church of our dreams for both the venue and reception because at the church we want, lets people hire the halls for wedding, party, funerals etc

So yesterday was very busy but extremely successful. Found my dress, love my dress. I got my wow moment. We just need to put a 50% deposit down asap because the dress is being recalled and discontinued in January......!!!! Also, I've booked one friend to do photos, she's doing a whole day plus ALL images edited in disc for £200, which is a £650 discount, and another friend is making our cake and is only charging us the ingredients. They have just saved me about £1,000

I had no choice but to put a deposit down being it's on sale. However, I'm glad that I've put a deposit down because if I didn't then I might not of had the dress. I'm just so happy that I've got my dress. Can't wait until Friday because we have a appointment at the church that we want to get married in. I just hope that we can have the venue and the reception there x

FutureMrsW - We originally met at primary school, we then went to senior school together, we knew of each other but didn't really know each other but had mutual friends in common. 32 years later he looked at my dating profile and we met up and have been inseparable ever since! Our second date was the Isle of Wight Festival (5 days in each others company) and our third date was my cousins wedding, where he met my entire family! xx

That's great news LeanneF265 and MrsD2B. I'm glad that you have got your date :)
Me and my H2B went to see the Vicar at the church of our dreams last Friday and she said that she is happy for us to have the venue and the reception there which we are so happy. She said she could do some packages for us to make it cheaper but we are still discussing about it. Our wedding date is Saturday 29th July 2017 to confirm.
My H2B met my family (parents, 3 brothers, grandad, uncle and cousin) after 6 days of been together and I met his family (parents, grandad, nan's and his uncle) the next day after we met mine well most of my family anyways because I have a very close but big family whereas my H2B has a small family which has became close since we've been together but it's mainly because of our precious son Joshua, being he is the centre of the attention between two families. Then over the periods of time he begin to met more of my family members slowly. To be honest the first day he met my family, he made himself feel like home. I was really shocked how homely he made himself feel.

I think I have found my dress, was in the second shop I was in today (we only went in as we we're in the right frame of mind after the first shop which I had an appointment booked in.) However although I love it, it feels right and I didn't want to take it off I'm still going to try a few more on before making a commitment. Watch this space lol

Lol there's only one dress that will make you feel like that. I've tried about 6-8 dresses and an endless time of searching on line. Anyways at the end I fell in love with two dresses out of the 6-8 dresses I've tried. It wasn't until I put the right accessories with the dresses like hair piece and tiara, that's when I realised that the blue dress which you will find in my photo album is the dress of my dreams. It's not bad price either because it was officially £1595 now it's on sale for £750 that's why I put a deposit down as soon as I could because 1) its cheaper but mainly because it's the dress of my dreams x

Hello everyone. I posted a topic about what your all talking about. Its so reassuring to hear other brides.
So this weekend I went to a bridal shop had an appointment but wasn't planning on buying anything. So I narrowed it down to 4 which I thought, brilliant I have a good idea to keep looking for next year. Then the assistant went to get some she thought and some to check different styles.
So I tried a completely different style which I liked the mums didn't. But it still went in the I like pile. After then trying my 4 with a veil and head piece this dress I never picked and which I liked, they loved. Thought it was the one. I'm such an indecisive person so I don't feel I'd ever be 100% with a dress.
But it ended up with me buying it!!! Afterwards I think I completely freaked out, I think nerves and realising I'll be getting married! Also the pressure of thinking it's so different, will Mr like it? Is it right for me? Was I buying too early?
So H2B has calmed me down which reminded why I can't wait to marry him, I will go to the fitting with the mums, b.maids, hair done, lingerie and shoes. If I have any doubt then I'll have plenty of time to attempt looking again.
Happy dress hunting everybody, just relax. That's the best thing about planning early xx
CommentAuthorJoanneH4
It's never to early to get the dress, the only thing I would say is getting too early is the alterations, that's why I've put an deposit for the dress at the moment then after showing my mom and bridesmaids I will paid for the rest after. But even when it's fully paid for, I won't be getting the alterations done until about 6 months before the wedding. The dress I've got is a 16 (only size that the shop got) and I'm normally about a size 10 or 12 depending on the clothing but I might go up to size 12 or maybe 14 hopefully but the time it comes to the wedding day because at the moment I feel like I'm too skinny so I'm hopefully that by the time the wedding goes I will have more weight on x

How lovely Debbie, a double celebration. We've got a weekend away in Liverpool to surprise my dad and then we will have also saved enough for the dress deposit. We've also decided to go with a different church....didn't like the vibe I was getting from the vicar so we are now waiting for confirmation for that church.....X
