the checklist is a good place to start too but I did notice that this missed things like bridesmaids dresses etc

That's lovely Lady C. Makes it even more special. Whats that quote for, just the hire of the marquee? Seems very OTT if that's what it is

Joanne at the top of the forum page is the pinned posts there is a checklists for brides there which pretty much covers everything.
LadyC on the surface that is a crazy amount for a marque but with everything included it still seems a lot but it's not so bad, have a shop around you probs will get it cheaper but you may not get the drapes lights and sofa's etc.

    Will definitely shop around.

So... thinking about JoanneH4 and helping her with where to start... what are the 3 most important things to you about your wedding? What will you be spending the most money and time on? I know it's tough to think of 3. Mine are...

    * Entertainment - I don't want my guests to be bored and waiting around between parts of the day. We are having a falconry display, the venue has a maze so will have a gentlemen vs ladies race to the middle, it has a craft and pottery hut so thinking of getting guests to make their own favours, a miniature train, fireworks and Northern Soul DJ.

    * Long aisle walk - this was a deal breaker for me when viewing venues. I want a long walk to my h2b. I want to make that moment where I walk towards him and my new life last as long a possible.

    * Food - I love my food! We want a BBQ during the day and cold buffet in the evening. I don't want guests with children to feel pressured to control them during a sit down meal and lots of boring speeches. H2B will probably make a speech at some point but that's it.

Feeling a little deflated after seeing my fmil. She saw the place online that we want to get married but because we would have to to somewhere else to eat, she said it wasn't ideal!

So my question to you guys is do you know anywhere that can do a wedding with no more than 4 guests that's not in a registry office?

To me and my H2B the three most things of our wedding is:
    1) Venue and Reception because it has to be somewhere special to celebrate our big day.

    2) Entertainment because we want our guest to be entertained so we are not bored.

    3) Food because we want our guest to be full of food and satisfied

Mrs T, if you have found somewhere you love who cares what your fmil says, if you look around on line you will probs find some small personal venues however you will end up spending 4x as much as you would in a registry office. Sorry if I'm being a little harsh but you have to remeber this is about you and your h2b not your mil just because she doesn't approve doesn't mean it's not right for YOU.
    my 3 important things:
*Making the day about the 3 of us, our wedding isn't just about me marrying the love of my life, it's about becoming an "official" family unit, so our LO is centered in our day
*Having fun, once we decided on having NYE as the date we knew we would have to throw the biggest best NYE party ever, so we are having a fun casino, live music, a DJ fireworks and a fun bus for the kids.
*Keeping the peace, this is going to sound horrible but there are major rifts in our families (on both sides) so we had to chose a venue that meant that certain people aren't forced together in a confined space but this will mean we should have everyone we love around us on our day and the only fireworks will be in the sky at midnight

    Our 3
    * Making sure we focus as much on the ceremony as less on the afters as that's the important part and the reason why we are all there and I think often more time is spent on a party than the official important part

    * Making sure everyone is happy and catered for - a lot of mu family are fussy with food to the point where we are allowing my MOH to pick the vegetarian meal to make sure its something she will eat so its important to us that everyone is comfortable

    * Making it as personal as possible so that it shows who we are and what we are capable of when we join together

Hi ladies. Been in bed for 2 days with a S&D bug. Felt like I had the plague! Just awful. My 3 kidlets had it in the week so had that impending feeling of doom. Even said to H2B I would come down with it Thursday and I did! Still feel dodgy. Was supposed to be going to Birmingham today for the wedding fayre. We have found one local to our venue on tomorrow though so hopefully I will feel well enough for that.

Pinky - Yay for putting a deposit on your venue! We have worked out our budget for the month and should be able to pay the deposit on our venue and the £604 registrar fee at the end of October. So excited! Will feel real then.

Mrs T - Your FMIL has given you money towards YOUR day sweet, to have it how YOU want it. Go with the venue you love.

My H2B wants to make simple invitations but I want to make elegant invitation. To me when I look at wedding invitations I look at the detail because if there's a lot of detail then it shows that's they have up a lot of effort and time into making the invitations so they've made a lot of effort into the wedding. If they are simple then I think to myself that if there's no effort to put into the invitations then there not a lot of effort into the wedding.
Am I the only who thinks this?

I do agree. My plain is to make detailed ones for our day guests and a simplified version for evening guests. I love pocketfold invites with inserts so I'll be going for that design.

I'm making my own stationary my invites are in my DIY photo album, I've only made about 20 so far and not had the actual wording parts printed, but I have designed them on power point and will have them professionally printed next year.
went to see the lady about the venue dressing yesterday for £310 am getting 65 chair covers and sashes, 8 table clothes and runners, 8 center pieces, 1 wishing well post box, 1 wish tree, 1 candy ferriswheel (with enough sweets for 100 people plus scoops and bags to match my colour scheme) 65 personalised love heart favours and table scatters. deposit now paid so that's another thing off my list will need to check how much I've agreed to pay out so far and check how the budget is doing later

Yeah I'm really happy with that forgot to add she's throwing in a table plan for free as there are a few things that were included in the package which I didn't want so she's done a swap for me!
Thank You Lady C, I just realised I haven't updated the photo's since I made a final decision on design and wording the outside is still the same (a Crystal encrusted snowflake has been put on the center of the ribbon now) and the main invitation is still from out little girl, 1- the whole thing is about the 3 of us together and 2- it saves arguments else where, but it now reads:
    With one year to end,
    and another to begin,
Tamara would like you to join us
    in bringing it in.
    Her mummy and daddy
    are tying the knot,
    We’ll be smiling and
    drinking and dancing a lot.
The “I Do’s” are at three
time to put on your finery.
For a New Years Eve celebration
    at Knightor Winery.
    So get ready to party,
    please don’t hesitate,
To join us this special day,
    as we celebrate
A new year. A new Life.
    A new husband and wife
Thought a poem made it more individual.
