well as i said earlier yesterday went to see a venue and well i must say it was LUSH!! lovely room for the ceremony, lovely terrace for drinks after (weather dependant) or lovely room and a gorgeous lake for photo's of me and H2B and gorgeous back drops of the golf course for all family pics. and the reception room was STUNNING i must say lay out was perfect...almost
two things..
1... My aunty in a wheelchair and to get in to reception room she would have to go right around (not to big a deal) but to go to the toliet she would have to go outside and right around. But main thing is u have to go through the dance floor to get to the doors that lead out and that got be a problem when evening guest their and the dancing kicks off! plus if its raining my poor aunty going to get soaked!
2... As with anything this super nice it comes a a huge price....dont get me wrong money aint a problem and we got a 15k budget BUT i just think its alot of money even tho it is gorgeous. My H2B loves it, crazy about it, say he dont mind paying it as its so lovely and its what he would love to get married in. But me well maybe im just listening to my mum to much when she says we being silly spending so much on a wedding, hers only cost £800 and why dont we get married at a registry office and not have a meal blah blah blah. she says she disappointed in me she never thought id be like this. i guess it just got to me is all maybe going for a big wedding is wrong but its what my H2B wants and we plan on only doing this once. what u think?
Oh and we had to change our date if we do want it as there another wedding that day so we decided on May 4th the bank holiday weekend. i like the idea of everyone having a long weekend off :)
oh lol and husband to be was so in love with it we provisionally booked it!!! WOW...bit scared now haha!

Glad you liked it ! Is this the first one you have seen? If it is it maybe worth looking around as you may see something you like without the minuses plus you will have something to compare it to

What you have to do is turn around and say, "watch me"!!

yh its first one i seen and managed to talk H2B in to seeing some others first before putting a deposit down. atleast we will be able to compare them like u said hun and then we will know if its the one b4 we pay £6500 for the venue! the main this is disabled access i love my aunty and what her to have a good time she dont get out very much now as she really got ill and she will be making a 250 mile journey to come, god bless her!! xx

I think that if it is something you would worry about its worth giving it some definite thought - as much as i think sometimes we worry too much about what people think disabilities are different issues and it wouldnt be nice for you on your day if it did rain and you knew your aunt was uncomfortable

yh ur right thank you, i would feel awful, for that kind of money i want perfection and sit back and not worry about anything specially not my aunty getting to the toilet etc. think if we do decide to go there then ill ask if they can put a ramp on the steps one side so at least she doesn't have to go all the way outside, they are doing it for the ceremony so dont see why it cant be arranged for the reception room tbh. but not gonna settle for aunty having to go all the way outside just to come back in the other entrance. they either sort it out of lose six and a half grand for the sake of a reception room with no ramp! :) dont think its unreasonable demand tbh! feel better now lol thanks xxx

it seems odd that they don't have a ramp already or a lift of some kind. Always good to look around though then decided. Hope you find the right places :) its good to see that your first vist went well

Ooooo that is great hun! So curious as to where your venue is but as you mentioned a golf course and lake I have a pretty good idea. Sounds lovely! I do advise you spend as long as you need to look round as many venues as you can. We spent roughly every weekend for 4 months looking at venues....we loved nosying a bit too much!
Make sure you are 100% definate it is your dream venue before deposits change hands and please, please, please ask for the terms and conditions before handing any money over and read them thoroughly. Once your deposit is paid its usually non refundable.....by that time its too late if you find you are not allowed a certain type of entertainment, that you have to pay for any short fall in guest numbers or that guests/music have to leave by a certain time. So please take your time in reading the small print. There is also a list on here regarding "Questions to ask your venue" xxx
