REginaldD you are the only person i have heard that is using a wedding planner. what is your opinion on them do you think they are worth it?

Me i have so far ;-
    - booked and paid deposit for venue (includes food/ drink, table centre pieces, chair covers, toast master, rooms, over night accomodation etc)
    - booked church
    - book and paid deposit for photographer, transport, cake
    - organised insurance
    - got save the date cards
    - ordered and paid half off my rings ( having them made)
    - got my dress ( couldnt help it ), shoes, veil and hair piece
    - got my organza bags for favours
    - got my table number olders, ring pillow, other small bits and bobs

SO most of it us done, only have the DJ really to worry about but the venue has a list of recommended suppliers so not too worried about that and then its the bridesmaids, flower girl, ring bearers, ushers, best man and groom outfits but will wait a while for them.

we are getting our invites made for us as a gift and the honeymoon is being covered as a wedding gift from in laws which is nice just need to decide where to go in october. Where are you guys thinking of going?

Mrs Ratcliffetobe i know its a lovely feeling, some people think i am nuts too but i feel alot better as i know how much everything is going to cost me and i secured some good deals because i booked early.

people think its too early but the first photographer i spoke to when it was over 2 years until i got married was already booked! the chruch and venu already had some bookings and i was adamant that i wanted these so everythnig went from the availablity of these.

i am still deciding about flowers what i want to do or if i even want flowers might have feathers and foam or silk.

i still need to do things likthe the RSVP and table places etc but im not to worried about them as the bay of e has lots of things for cheap.

we werent really gonig to be able to have a honeymoon as the wedding is skinting us out as H2B's family are italian catholic they wanted thet full church wedding where as i wanted to elope abroad and have a big party so they surprised us and are paying for it, originally i thought it was just the flights which i was happy about as that was the biggest expense really but they said they would pay for the accomodation aswell!

i work away most of the time so for me its good as they all go through her we she also does everything from telephone calls to the timing of the whole day but as i have done most of it myself instead of 2500 she is only charging 1100 she will organise the transport times as im having 3 cars and laying on coaches and also there is going to be a horse and carraige waiting at the entrance to the venue so the wtb will get out of the car into the horse and carriage and tour around the grounds with all timings to be done i cant do it all myself so got her to do everything for me less stress and worry more time for me and my wtb

Hello everyone, I'm getting married October 25th 2014. I thought I had LOADS of time however after joining this forum I'm feeling a little bit underprepared lol!
We have booked the venue for both the ceremony and reception, it includes a 4course meal (choices to be picked as of yet), disco, evening hog roast buffet....
Colour scheme selected but that's about as far as we have got. Have been emailing a dress maker as like the idea of designing my own :)
My friend is an up and coming illustrator so she is designing and screen printing all of our invites as a wedding present.
I'm lucky that my dad is a wedding photographer so that is covered and we are in talks about a wedding cake/cakes...
Everything is kind of in the pipeline at the moment and not set in stone so maybe I will feel a bit better once everything is confirmed.
I never said I would get stressed but it is starting to set in a little...
Anyone else in the same boat?

I'm getting married 27th October (I feel like I'm the only one getting married on a Monday!)

Our venue wouldn't do the package deal we wanted on Saturdays/Sundays. (On a plus side, from putting our wedding day a few days forward, we've had to push the honeymoon a little forward which knocked £2k off the seats because we're going to America! Shocking! I nearly passed out through the price because it's just on the edge of half term apparently!)

Still got plenty to do but I feel like I bother so many people talking about it, so I generally just don't :|

    Hi
    I'm getting married October 18th 2014.
It's our 10 year anniversary that day so just feels right as we've been engaged for nearly 4 year but decided to put the wedding on the back burner to concentrate on starting a family. Since then we've had 2 beautiful little girls and decided a few month ago that its time. I'm desperate to have the same surname as my 2 little girls too.
We're getting married in a church then going to the venue for the wedding breakfast then havinv our nightime party at the same place.
We've paid deposits for venue, photographer, car, suits, dress. So still need flowers, veil, tiara, bridesmaid dresses, rings, invitations. Can't think of anything else.
The only thing were struggling with is the guest list as my partners parents have said invite all of his aunties and uncles or none. But there's 32 altogether plus my family and his immediate family then our friends. And If we go over 50 people for the daytime it's an extra £30 pp. it all adds up and especially when I don't think many of his family would even know me if I walked past them in the street. There not very close. suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for giving full life story!!

Got engaged on our 8th anniversary and still haven't booked a venue (luckily our date is a Thursday so everywhere we call are saying the date is available). Got dress and bridemaids sorted though so its slowly coming together.

Hello- I'm getting married in October but haven't picked a date yet. We're coming from Canada to get married so we're thinking a Monday might make sense- probably October 13 or 20. After reading how prepared everyone is, I'm a little nervous about how much there is to do, especially since I'm doing most of the planning online. Anyone have any tips on a venue? I'm looking for something historic- a manor house/castle for the ceremony and reception. Then thinking we'll have a more casual evening with everyone and head to a really great local pub or restaurant. We will have about 30 guests total so it's kind of small for a DJ and evening party on our own. Oh, and ideally the venue is within 2 hours train from Heathrow airport since everyone will be flying in. Any tips?

hi Stinky87 I'm getting married Oct 4th 2014 as well :) We've been super organised like you as well and pretty much have everything done, now just all needs to be paid for. All deposits down and making monthly payments on everything so budget wise we're good. All that's left to do is order bridesmaids dresses and ushers suits (doing that after payday this month) and finish making bouquets. I'm making button and bead bouquets for myself and my 4 bridesmaids as well as buttonholes and coursages. Have buttonholes, my bouquet and one bridesmaids one done so far really loving doing them and it helps it not seem so far away now we have nothing else left to organise! We made all the stationery ourselves as well and doing loads of diy bits for the reception...so much fun :)

Hi Miriam I am going to start making my invites too, really excited/nervous about it but stationary is so expensive so i dont mind a bit of trial and error. We are paying for a few bits monthly, its mainly the reception left to pay for which is the most expensive part but its all getting there now. its coming around all too quickly!

we really enjoyed making the invitations and saved so much money doing it ourselves! They actually turned out really nicely and fiance really got into helping with them. October seems so far away, maybe we should have been less organised to make it go quicker haha. Just finished making another bouquet so so far I have mine done, 2 bridesmaids and 5 buttonholes just 2 bridesmaids to go and 6 corsages

Ok so I had a very productive weekend and I have made all my day invites and their inserts. I now realise why it costs so much as its time intensive! Good Job i love a bit of a challenge. Now just to make the evening invitations which may be a little simpler to save me some time as there is about twice as many of them to make!

I have paid my second and final deposit due to the photographer before the wedding so that is another load off my mind, and just organising a menu tasting with the caterers! im really looking forward to that part.

How is everyone else faring as 6 months really doesnt seem that far away now!

We just found and booked a fab photographer after being let down by a friend who was going to do it, really excited about engagement shoot as hadn't planned on having that before. I'm with you on the needing to lose weight bit Stinky, have had dress since last September and, while I still fit in it, its a bit too tight around the bum! Everyone keeps saying weight will fall off in the runup but not sure I can rely on that, time to get into the gym :) Only one more bouquet and 4 corsages to make now then need to get stuff for table plan and start working on that
