Right me and h2b need some opinions on what you would do.
My h2b is looking for a loan so that we can finish paying for the wedding as we havent got long left. Its not what we wanted to do but have no choice as we still have quite an amount to pay. So far we have had 2 loan companys that have declined him but gonna try 1 more if we dont get any luck next week we are gonna have to decide what we are gonna do. We are suppose to be getting married in a hotel so if we down grade it will have to be at the registry office which i dont want as i got married in one before the other choice is to pospone which h2b doesnt want to do as it would be the 2nd time. We dont no what to do so would like some opinions please help xx

I would say if you have been declined twice then the next one will as they will see all the other searches on your credit file. How much are you short by? Could you ask your guests to donate towards the wedding rather than give you a gift? 50 guests x £10 = £500 and most guests would give you more than £10.
CommentAuthorMrs Steph Lapworth
The one he is gonna try next week said they are a lender and have got the money but i dont believe them. We are short by just over 6K we have told our guests that we would like money instead of presents and they are fine with that but its down to his ex wife

i would say to postpone it tbh...i know your both excited about it and you want it to happen but tbh if your having to resort to getting loans to pay off the rest of the money ....no day ..whether its a wedding or not is not worth getting into debt or money worries for hun..but thast just personal opinion hun!!!
you got to think about it and how much stress its already putting on u both x

It's not a good idea to take out a loan and if he's already been turned down twice I presume the interest will be quite high. Could you not go back to the venue you are using and ask if theres any areas where the price can be slashed?

i know you prob have your heart set on it hun....and being 6k short is a bit much ...i doubt even you would get half ofthat from guests contributions
think about it.if you postpone for a year or so and save save save u will be able to have the wedding you want without any money worries, stress, hassle etc...yes its a big step and u have to wait a bit longer but surely it will be worth waiting for xx

If you cancel will you still have to pay the venue? What does the contract say? I know ours still have to be paid even if we cancel so even downgrading etc might not help you out. Could you talk to the hotel and explain the situation and ask them what the best thing to do would be? They may be able to find ways of bringing the price down etc.
Just be careful who you get the money from as it could be more hassle than it is worth or cost you much more in the long term.
CommentAuthorRedBee12
Oh gosh, I am so sorry but I have to agree with Becca, that is quite an amount of money, and it would take quite a time to pay off. Also as Jo says you will have 2 declines on your credit check which may not help. I would speak to as many of your suppliers as possible and see if you can change your date, and if you can do it without many charges I would be more inclined to go down that route :( That is just how I feel sorry :( Hope you manage to work it out xx
CommentAuthorMrs Steph Lapworth
The price is for everything at the venue lisa so theres no way they will slash the cost for us.
Beccca which ever way we look at it h2b says that we would still lose money as we have paid all the deposits and a few things have already been paid in full so dont know where we would stand with them x

You need to give them a call and see what they say hun. It may be that they will let you pay in installments etc as if you owe the money regardless of if you have the wedding or not then they would have to accept payments in installments to pay it if you cancel.
CommentAuthorMrs Steph Lapworth
We have only paid the deposit on the venue so far so we would lose that. The 2 loans he got declined with were low APR and the other one he is gonna try is low as well.

Right I don't know one of us that doesn't want our dream wedding but dream wedding doesn't equate to £££££ (so speaks the 2.5k wedding queen lol) I guess this decision boils down to whether or not you're prepared to make a sacrifice or 2. I hear what you're saying about the registry office but it's not the venue, it's the commitment you make in the venue that counts! If you're really dead set against the registry office try ringing some of your local churches, our ceremony all in comes to a grand total of £190 (cheaper than the RO) If you decide to go with that then make sure you can change venue, from what I remember from our licence once you've named your venue that's the only place you're permitted to get married in. You can always save up and maybe for your 5th anniversary have the mother of all parties without going into debt.
I've been in your shoes (sort of) and we decided to downscale, I now have a 6k wedding for 2.5k and it's still just as perfect. It can be done so don't lose heart but be prepared to work your sassy b um off if that's what you decide to do xxx
It's right what they say
"The course of true love never runs smoothly"
But if it had been easy then we wouldn't love each other as
much as we do right now - 1 week to go :D

If you have paid deposits you should be allowed to postpone. If you and your h2b have a good look at your finances and work out how much money you can save each month, so you can go back to the hotel and tell them you want to change the date for the following year.

The reason he keeps getting declined is because his name is still on a mortage that he had with his ex wife and she has defaulted on the payments she has been to her solicitor to have his name removed as this is what the judge said she had to do in court but she has only just done it. The bank has told h2b that this is why he keeps getting declined but his name should come of it by the end of this month once it is removed they said he should be ok

I would get his credit report done now. I shared the same name as my sister-in-law and for some strange reason her information ended up on my credit report, even though she lived on the otherside of the country. The point I'm trying to make, is that if there are any errors or defaults on his credit report he will need to write to the companies concerned and it could take a while before they update his information and until they do he will continue to be declined for any credit.

Have you checked your contract to see what you have to pay if you cancel? Mine clearly states if I cancel 6 months before the wedding or sooner we still have to pay the full balance!

Is it a hotel chain and if so which one?
CommentAuthorMrs Steph Lapworth
There was nothing about cancellations on there but if we did lose the deposit then we would lose £400 has thats all we have paid so far. We have already made cut backs on other things and saved around £1500 but its the holiday and the venue thats worring h2b atm.
