We went to view a potential reception venue today and im not sure how I feel about it. It is in a perfect location, not too far away from the church, has lovely grounds, and is not too expensive. However the actual room isn't amazing. I went in there and didn't get a wow feeling. It wasn't done up for a wedding so was just an empty barn but I couldn't imagine it being nice. It holds 90 for a sit down and 200 standing so is a fair size and I could imagine a good atmosphere could be achieved but I didn't love it! H2b says he can imagine it being nice and thinks we should go for it but im just not sure. Should I go for it if I dont love it, or should I wait and see if somewhere else comes up that I do love? xxx

I'm hoping to go for a barn because its a blank canvas that you can decorate however you want. If I was you I would look around for a bit because you might find something you are happier with, but don't leave it too long to decide incase you cant yet your desired date. I used to work in a beautiful hotel in a gorgeous setting, everything was perfect... except the curtains! Ridiculous I know but for that reason alone I would never even have considered it. I think every bride knows how important it is to be happy with the venue! good luck x

My venue is a converted barn and when we first went to see it it was empty but we both knew walking in that this was OUR venue! If don't get that wow feeling just by walking into somewhere I would keep looking to be honest!
Like the girls say tho ask to see pictures or to go back when it is all set up it might give a completly different feel and you can get an idea of what it will look like on your day!

i didnt get that wow feeling when i walked into ours, but the more time i spent there and the more plans we have made the more i can picture who everything will be and i know when i go there on my wedding day it will feel special, i prob wont even pay attention to half of the things i would before, cos i will be wrapped up in emotion on the day. did u get a look at things u could do with it such as has it got beams etc u can hang decorations and fairy lights from etc? maybe it what u do with it that makes it look wow x

Could you ask to see it decorated or photos of it decorated, as you might feel that wow feeling once it's all done up. It depends what you want i guess...if you want to decorate it all youself, then it sounds pretty perfect really as it's a blank canvas. You've got quite a while until your wedding though so no harm in looking around other places, and you can always come back to this one xx

is just to love and be loved in return

I think it is because I keep comparing it to a venue that I love, but it 3 times my budget! Doesn't look like we will be able to go for this one now anyway as h2b parents gave us a list of people who 'need' to be there and it came to 87 people for just their side, and this venue only holds 90 all together! Back to the drawing board! xx
