H2b ex wife started divorce proceedings in january and her stonking solicitor only applied for the nisi in july!! there were no finances to sort out and no kids so surely it shouldnt take that long!! anyway long story short the decree absolute wont come through until at least december so we cant give notice till january it's looking like. therefore we have had to push the wedding back from august to november to allow us enough time to actually get a decent venue not just one that had a cancellation etc it sucks but i would rather not rush it and have a day im not happy with. i really would love to know what that solicitor was doing in nearly 7 months..... he's on legal aid anyway so it's not like he gets paid more!

awww no that's not good. Lots of venues do special offers for November as it's a bit of a lul before christmas so there's one bonus. We booked ours quite early for end of November but I've realised closer to the time there's sooo many offers around :( Hope it all works out x

I thought that after the Nisii was 'read' then you can apply for the Absolute 6 weeks 1 day after.... then you can get married 16 days after that (I think... not 100% though).

The delay from beginning of the process to the Nisii could be because of the courts - depends upon how many people they have working there.

OH's divorce took 3 weeks from the paperwork being in court to the Nisii being 'read'... and that was reasonably quick apparently.. this sounds like where your case is now except that it's taking 8/9 weeks.

Just think though, for November time, it'll be cheaper and the way the weather's going it'll probably be sunny :)

Even if there was a small delay it shouldnt have been 7 months worth of delay surely? Yeah november will be cheaper which is good! I think h2b is going to talk to his solicitor next week and see what exactly is going/gone on. But hey ho i will make the best of a bad situation, it gives us that bit longer to save up if one of us miraculously gets a job by january haha! (fingers crossed)
