Hi ladies, im starting to worry that im not going to be the size I want for the wedding. Im am currently a size 16-18, would be happy to be a size 14 but ideally like to be a 12. I have no will power I like sweet things too much. I work mon-fri 2pm-6pm and have a 16 month old little boy so I like coming home from work chilling out on sofa with a coffee and a bit of chocolate (and everything else unhealthy). I would love to join slimming w but all the classes in my area are the wrong times for me as I dont get in from work till 7:30pm. The gym wouldnt work either, I dont drive and to walk to the gym would take about 30 mins dont fancy doing it in the dark and cant do mornings as h2b works most mornings aswell as either all day sat or sun so will have no one to watch callum. Any advice or ladies in a similar situation?

I know exactly how you feel!
Im also a size 16/18 & want to be a 12/14 by the wedding. I work on a 2 week rota... either 8am-2:30pm or 3:30pm-10pm.... so its hard trying to fit things in...
    I have a 2 & half yr old also....

I have recetly applied for an everyone active card.... we have a new life centre in Plymouth... good thing is, you can book & pay online... so i have done that for tomorrow morning to do body combat.... so i can not get out of it... also they do a creche facility too.. as most classes are an hour.

Could you get a dvd at home if this isnt an option for you? maybe try home workouts, get a cross trainer? or bike? could even try the wii.

Smaller portions are also a good weigh to start losing weight... use smaller plates..we have plates at home which are bit bigger than a small plate but smaller than a dinner plate :)
Like others its the motivation & work is my downfall!

    We will do it :D

Honey I completely understand. I had such good intentions and lost bits here and there but inevitably put it back on. I think some of the problem was that I had the attitude 'I have no will power' and just gave in to everything.
Actually, with 2 weeks to go, I'm finally looking at every bit of food and visualising how I want to look in my wedding dress and it makes me want it less. Start doing some gentle exercise, even at home in front of the telly is good enough.
Why not join an online slimming club? All the benefits without the commitments!
And a few tips... if you feel hungy, drink a pint of water first, wait 20mins and see if you're still hungry. Eat slowly and stop when you're full. Put smaller portions on your plate and don't let yourself have seconds.
If you get into a habit of eating less and eating healthier, you'll feel hungry for the first few days but work through it and it gets much easier.
Keep a positive attitude and keep reminding yourself you CAN do it! Best of luck! xx

I know exactly how you feel lol. I really need to shift some weight to be the size I'd like to be but I just don't want it bad enough. The Wii or other consoles with exercise games are good for when you've not got many options to get out the house. But I think the best thing to do is to make small changes to start with and then work it up to a proper healthier eating diet.

Getting started and geeting into a routine is the hardest thing. I work shift work and am up at 4:30 most days and often not home until 9pm but have forced myself to just spend 15 mins a day doing weights on my arms or sit ups or lunges. Keeping a diary helps- if you write in each day how many calories you've eaten and what exercise you've done, you'll find that knowing you have to write it down and be honest with yourself makes you less likely to cheat. xx

I was exactly the same, but have started to follow the sort of slimming world diet at home, you can buy the books on the bay or just go to the class once and get the books and the info and do it from home. I really love food and thought it would be really hard but as you can have 5-15 syns a day and you can spend them on choc if thats your fave thing then it is fairly easy and you can still have the nice things!! If you plan your meals and batch cook, freeze and reheat, then that might work for you! good luck girls!! I know how hard it can be!! but i really want to be a 14 or a 12 and what i will look like in my pictures is the reason i have to lose it!:)

i completley sympathise with everyone! we all want to look great on the day but the hardest part is having the will power! i started slimming world 3 weeks ago and i have already fallen off the wagon twice! its a really good diet but its just having the time to cook and prepare everything when youve had a long day at work etc. i tried making things and freezing them but still its a hassle i find! i used to be a size 14 then got down to a 10 and now im the biggest ive ever been (size 16-18). i am determined to loose weight for the wedding but i do think the will power will come eventually! try not to stress too much and try and make little adjustments to your diet rather than go completley on a diet and deprive yourself. im sure you will find the will power eventually as i hope we all do. xx

Thanks ladies, its frustrating because I really want to loose the weight and I dont want the wedding to come round and regret that I didnt work harder to loose the weight and dislike my wedding photos. Im dreading trying on dresses as the thought of someone seeing my body makes me feel sick and I feel like I could cry, ive always been curvy, when I first met h2b at college when I was 17 I was a size 12 and have just gained more weight over the years and im now 24 years old. Having callum has also left some excess weight around my stomach and of course the dreaded stretch marks :-(

beclou77 when i have days like that i just chop everything up and chuck it in the slow cooker and make a cassorle its always free and goes down a treat and once you have prepared it and put it on theres nothing to do but pop on some veg when its dinner time.

i first did slimming w 5 years ago when i was living in germany with my first husband was no classes so i joined online you still need the will power of course, but it does help you with meals and tips and stuff i found it really good. l lost over 3 stone in about 10 months. it did all go back on though as i stopped doing it and went back to my old weighs the thhing with slimming wolrd is its really not about dieting its about teaching yourself to eat more healthly and its ment to be done for live you can still have the choclate or slice of cake if thats what you want you just give your self extra syns that day and cut back a few for the rest of the week x

I joined slimming world about 8 weeks ago and Have fallen off a few times. I now have a 'motivation door' in My kitchen. I Have stuck before and after pics on of people who have lost lots of weight and little motivational quotes like 'nothing tastes as good as losing weight feels' and 'don't treat yourself with food, your not a dog!' 'I will NOT be a fat bride! Etc. This does help me stay motivated. If you could get the slimming world books and just do it from home it may help, I do find that going every Monday and getting weighed helps but maybe you could set a time once a week to weigh yourself at home and maybe 'weigh in' on the book of faces or something, I find that when I know people know how I Have done it motivates me more as I Am embarrassed if I don't lose or put on.
I also agree that writing down everything that passes your lips really does help, you Just have to be honest with yourself! I lost 5 and 1/2 lbs in My first week by doing this :)

Hope this helps and remember when you think about giving up just remind yourself of why you started :)

everytime I want some choc or something, I have a look at what I have and am going to eat that day to see if I can afford the calories. Planning your day with meals you enjoy helps. For example, I like soup so had soup and a roll for lunch but instead of binging this afternoon on rubbish, I am just going to look forward to my tea which is 450 cals worth of beef thai red curry and that keeps me going. I hate lunch in work so I just keep looking forward to my tea and view my tea as a treat as I only cook something I know I will look forward to.
The other thing I do each time I want a chinese etc is to look at a pic of eva longoria and think..... well she doesnt look that way due to having takeways and that thinspiration spurs me on more than the desire for the take a way.
I also try to remember the feeling I have after a binge... I fully enjoy it at the time but I go to bed really upset with myself knowing what damage I have done on the scales.
I really want to go to the slow boat tonight which is an all you can eat buffet so I have distracted myself by booking in bowling for 3 games so I cant fit it in
I dont know if any of these things help?

You can do it Kirsty! When I lose weight I never 'Diet'. That word just makes me hungry!

Why not try walking/jogging? Thats how I started with exercise and I can honestly say I still don't love it but I can see and feel the benefits. Its cheap, easy, and once you've got your trainers (and sports bra) on you start - no journey to the gym! After a few goes you don't even think about people looking at you, and if you psych yourself up for it, in the week beforehand you'll see all manner of people running the streets!

I also try to make smaller portions, even getting myself a special plate to eat off! And I know for sure the best way to lose an inch is to cut out bread and wheat - VERY DIFFICULT! But it can be done, especially if you have a planned treat on day or at the weekend, like a pizza or sausage butty!

Losing weight takes time, it won't happen overnight so don't be put off when you only lose a couple of pounds here n there.

I would also surround yourself with friends and people who will totally encourage you! I like to support my MIL2B - she is on SW and doing well though its slow and she can get disheartened. I text her every week to see how she is getting on and if she feels low I drag her out for a brisk walk or make her use the treadmill whilst I do sit ups! Get a network around you to help you!

    Good luck ladies! xx

I agree about weight loss taking time.... this is the one thing that throws must of us off as we dont see results quickly enough... this is normally when I binge and then I have even more work to do. Just remember that you may not lose weight every week but it will come off. slowly is better than not at all.

Hi everyone, I recently got my dress and I usually fit in a size 18 but my dress had to be ordered as a 24! It made me feel so horrible, my wedding isn't until april next year and I'm desperate to get that dress size down. I'm trying to diet at the moment but my biggest problem is motivation and sometimes its nice to talk to people who are in the same boat :)

bridal dresses are normally smaller than the high street. I was lucky with mine as I still managed to get my normal size (just hope it fits) however my friend got married and she is an 8 but had to order a 12, for her BM dress for my wedding shes in a 12 again, and one BM who is size 14 has had to order an 18-20 so its just the way a lot of the dresses are. Dont let is put you down. The latter bm is threatening to cut out the label,... she said she wouldn't mind if she was a size 20 as she is happy and would stay happy at size 20, but its the fact that she is not that is getting her down. We have made her realize now that it is just awkward sizing and she feels better about it. She is not dieting as she is happy in her own skin she was just upset at the increase but dont worry about it.... it is just their dodgy sizing guidelines, not you x

If you want to diet as I have just had another look at your post, I found WW brilliant.

Fitness pal on your phone/computer is brill and i would def reccommend it. Also try to do your food shop only once a week and when you have just eaten, as when you're hungry you buy more and worse stuff lol.
Also, one of the best forms of exercise is a simple walk everyday...why don't you take ur little one to the park in the morning, walking there and back is all you need everyday. I'm currently on a 'diet' and I walk between 3 and 7 miles every night ater work (on a treadmill at home to be fair) and I still eat pretty much what i want and I have lost 12lbs in 4 weeks. Good Luck and just think about your special day everytime you feel like giving up :) x x

I got my dress last year and my wedding is still ages away so I have no motivation. I am a size 12 usually and was trying on size 14-16 dresses. Then I spotted the dress... but it was a size 10 and I though it would never fit so disregarded it. But with a little persuasion from my mum I tried it on and it was bloomin lovely. A little snug but nothing losing a few pounds wouldn't sort.

I did weight watchers last year and lost nearly 2 stone and felt great. It only took me 5 months and that was just in time for the goal that I had set (I was in a dance show so it meant a lot for me to lose the weight!). I put on weight again after that because I stopped going ww, but I have since returned. However, this time I am finding it REALLY difficult. I eat all weekend then starve mon-weds then get weight, then eat loads thurs-sun. I'm not putting on weight but I'm not losing anything either!

Yes ill definietly be carrying on with body combat but also gonna try different classes.
I wouldnt be able to do it from watching it online as i wouldnt have the motivation to do it, where as in a class you will automatically do it.
With the life centre its quite good as you can book and pay online, if you dont scan your everyone active card or you dont go you get charged! lol
I pay as i go & not monthly!

Also people at the classes are there for a reason not to take the mick out of other people, i did feel self concious but you just get on with it :) you concentrate on the instructor and yourself no 1 else.
