So I've taken a break from here for a while, I've been booking venue viewings to no avail.
We initially booked somewhere and when we received what the grand total would be we decided against. Now I'm back to square one desperately hunting down venues within our budget. £5000. It seems impossible.... What initially feels like a good deal soon turns out not to be with all the hidden costs.
I know once we find the right place and have a date I'll all fall into place but it just seems to be slowing down so much so I have no interest.
Anyway I'm sorry to moan but I'm just having wedding blues........ Waaaaayyy before the wedding even happens.

Are you looking to get married and have the wedding in one place (as a package)? Our venue was an exclusive wedding venue, very beautiful country house, but we got married on a Tuesday, which was about £8k less than at the weekend. There are lots of deals out there that fall in line with your budget, and are top end venues, the only thing you compromise on is the day of the week.

I have thought about that but as my other half wants the entire work force to come on our wedding day that would mean the whole of the buisness would have to shut up shop for the day. I feel iffy about having to ask people to take time off from work.

Could he maybe compromise and just invite them to the evening reception? Looks like something might have to give one way or another if you are struggling. Fingers crossed you find something soon x

5k seems reasonable you should get a good bit for that! If u really want a weekend wedding maybe try cutting down on number of guests or have a hot buffet instead of full wedding breakfast?

Have a good look. I started with a 6000 budget and ended up finding 4 lovely venues all between 4000-5000. The one we're going with is 4500and is perfect. We prefer it to the more expensive ones.

It takes time but keep searching :)

I hope you find something soon, we thought a budget of £4000 for a venue was going to be hard to come across as we had to have everything including accommodation at one place, we got a great deal that was £2750 for a Saturday too! Well below budget!

There are venue's out there for that price. Keep hunting.

Also look at different options like maybe having a later ceremony so you only need to have one big meal in the evening, as the sit down meals add quite a bit onto your costs. Things like having the cake as your pudding instead of paying for an extra pudding also help.

Does your h2b own the work place? would it maybe be worth considering having the wedding at 3 pm? then the staff could work in the morning and close at lunch time?
There will be something out there for you it will just take time. You might have to go slightly over your budget, I did, but I found other places to save costs. We went over by about a grand, but with me staying at the venue the night before now I no longer need transport so i saved the £800 I had budgeted for cars. I have also saved £150 by making my own invites. I have saved approx £50 on my wedding rings, £100 on my cake and I won my chair covers so all in I am now actually under budget.
If you do go slightly over budget work out where you might be able to save costs elsewhere to cover the shortfall xx

Thanks everybody. So great to hear good advice when you feel like you're stuck in a hole you can't get out of.
We've found a lot of plCes have a minimum spend and that's what's getting to me but we have a viewing tonight that apparently doesn't have one.
Looking forward to getting somewhere soon.

I think it helps to think outside the box too when working on a budget. The more typical wedding venues and packages tend to be more pricey.

Are you checking out local wedding fayres. All the venues available normally attend and you can speak to them or make appointments. Grab their brochures too and make a list of top ones you like. My venue is very flexible just as long as we have their catering so we are bringing external things into the mix too..... hope you find what your looking for Stephanie xx
