We still have a year but I feel so bad for my oh ATM :( I have already picked my moh but my oh really struggling with a best man, he doesn't really have any close male mates. He has male friends but no one he's really that close to and his brother who he sort of close with ( when the wife allows them to be!!) was his best man first time around so don't really want him again esp as she cheated on him with his brother ( long long story) so want to avoid him as best man plus I don't feel he would be doing any best men duties as he would be commanded to look after his kids and that and it would feck me off! So any who he doesn't really have anyone! I was/am completely open to him having a best female but the two friends who were close are being complete t**t heads! To point neither of them turned up to his surprise 30th and one didn't even make our engagement so my argument is how can u rely on them to be best man on the day when they 'forget' or just don't reply to invites!! So he's not really left with anyway!! Any ideas how I can help him find his best man? He doesn't reLly go out drinking n his work mates are ok but he not really close to them! Just feel bad for him :(

My cousin got married last year and had his dad .... My OH is having his uncle he has always been close it him and said it from the day we got engaged... I don't think it always has to be friends or brothers as long as they mean something to you .... Has he said he would like anyone in particular ? Xx

His dad was like his best mate but unfortunately he died a few years ago :( he doesn't know who he wants just said he doesn't really want his brother as had him for his first marriage he did mention about his female friends and as much as its not what I'd prefer I said I would go along with whatever he wanted but they are being d***heads ATM and the fact neither of them made effort to make his surprise party think it sort of shown him they aren't who he thought they were not to mention they haven't contacted him unless they want something and never made any effort to see our kids!! So he really lost of who to have :/ he has his brother in law but they aren't overly close x

You have kids, do you have a little boy who could be his best man? He obviously can't sign as a witness.

I like Victorias idea. Or if you have a little girl, she could be his best girl. X

    Hey MrsC,

Fiancé & I had a small engagement party to which we only invited the bridesmaids & bestmen to be. On the night my two bestmen both text within 15min of each other to say "oh was that tonight?". Despite me seeing ones wife the day before, who told me she wasn't coming however he "has a case if beer in fridge & is really looking forward to it".

So obviously I never asked them. We decided to go with our son, who is 9. Our daughter is a flower girl. As 9yr old cant sign as witness the bridesmaids can sign. So id say go with your kids, I think looking back on it the day will mean so much to both father & children.

my son is walking down the aisle with me as my dad sadly passed away a few years ago, there is no set rules these days as to who you should have, my OH is in the same boat he has no brothers or close friends so his sister is his best person

    met 11th December 2010
    engaged 2nd August 2013
getting married to the love of my life 11th july 2015

I would seriously sit down your girls and ask what they would like to be? Both Flower Girls? Both Best Girls? or One Best Girl and One Flower Girl. I think you might be surprised about what they tell you as they both will then have important jobs either way.

They are only 1 and 4 ATM so will be 2&5 but I dont want them looking back and asking why was she that and me this ect, plus I'd love them both walking down the isle in same dresses, and I know my oh would prefer an adult to be doing it. I just don't want him to just go with someone for the sake of it :/ I know we still have a year but can't help feed bad x
