I got a phone call this morning from our venues co-ordinator at Gretna Green, Scotland. Because we getting married on 12/12/12 the newspaper has contacted her and asked if any of the couples getting married on that date would mind a reporter writing a piece and taking pictures of our wedding for their local paper and our local papers. I thought it was a good idea and was a little excited about it, but H2B is a bit apprehensive, he doesn't want the reporter encroaching (not sure that's the right word!!LOL) on our wedding, or turning it into being all about the story. The reporter is going to contact us in a week or so to talk to us about it. I was wandering if anyone else who is getting married on 12/12/12 has been contacted about writing a story as its such a unique date. x

I had this from the Sun about my story last month. They offered me money for a picture of my wedding. However we personally decided against it as no amount of money would make me wanna have our wedding day splashed in the nationals.
I think your situation is slightly different & could make a nice local story, but one thing the Sun said to try & tempt us was that we could give them a photo after the wedding, therefore no reporters snapping away on our day. If you did want to do it, maybe you could consider that instead? Xx

I would love that lol its a nice little keepsake for years to come. You could have the news article framed or put into an album or something. Do it there's no harm in it being about the story of the special date whatsoever anyway :-)

I think for the right people its a great idea, it is a pretty unique date after all. It wouldn't be something I would be too keen on. I'm sure you wouldn't have the reporter doing much, just a pic of you both and a few words about your wedding.

Its personal choice... i wouldnt but i dont think i would like my personally, special day splashed over the papers and also i dont know if i would like to hear/read people's opinion on my day as strangers tend not to hold back. However you might be able to read the article first to check it isnt negative towards you.... xxx
