Hello all you lovely Bride/Grooms to be.
My name is Trish and im getting Married on 18th June 2011, but i have ONE problem...................

Its my 2nd marriage, and i really want a super wedding, but funds are not readilly there....
We are getting Married in a Registary Office, but i dont really know where else to start as i know that a hotel will charge the earth for a reception.
really need help in choosing a venue... our Budget is £2000, that does NOT inc our Honeymooon, so i have my eye on a dress which is £350, hall, and getting in people to do a Buffet, and paying for a Disco in the evening with yet a little more buffet..... but have no idea what this would cost...

I live in Bournemouth in UK..... is there anyone here that could offer me a little support...

    thanks in advance
Trish (A very worried Bride to be)
    xxx

    Hi!

I'm getting married in November this year.. In a registry office then a small party afterwards in a hall.
I've found a dress for £170 on a site many ladies have suggested to me on here.. highly recommended!
Our budget is £1000 not including a honeymoon so I'm pretty much in the same way.. although I'm not having two doos just the one after the registry office.
How many guests are you having??
    Shell :) xx

Hi hun, congrats and welcome xx

I am also on a tight budget. We are having our reception in a villiage hall, having chair covers to make it look nicer, alothough its a lovely hall anyway.

You can do it. Just try doing as much as u can yourself, like your invites, Im making my own centre pieces and things like that.

Everyone on here is full of tips and advice so dont hesitate to ask for help with anything xx

Hello and welcome hun! And congrats on your wedding! You will definitely get lots of help from all the lovely people in here! Firstly you need to look at number of guests from there you can start looking at venues etc! Ive had a quick google and there are some lovely venues in Bournemouth (im not far from you, im just outside Portsmouth) as Shell said, many of us can point you in the direction of a couple of ladies that are making our dresses and at very reasonable prices, in fact your budget of £350 for a dress is A LOT compared to what most of us are paying lol, most are in the range of £170 for your dream dress! It can be done hun no matter what your budget and we are all here to help each other, don't stress hun as it is supposed to be a fun and exciting time for you x x

    Hi :)

Wev'e bought those cameras off ebay disposable ones with a little card asking for people to take pictures throughout the day and party... we got 6 for £12.99 all colour coded to match my theme.

Cake from M&S.. there not as expensive there as people think.. Were getting large white sponge cake one for £25 enough for 54 pieces.

I made the save the date cards myself (pics are on my page) and I've bought some simple yet effective colour coding invitations from ebay £1.99 total bargain.

Most of the things I get are off ebay.. I found my shoes for £7.00 so defoaintly recommend ebay!

The hall where we are having our party are doing the food for us... from as low as £5 per head to as high as £10 per head but I did a price check if I was going to do my own food on asdas website and it's easily done on a budget just needs patience and organising :)

I've found lots of lovely bargains and things to make the day lovely without spending a ridiculous amount.. made my own flowers and grooms buttonhole (got pics on my page also)

Anything else you want to know please feel free to ask.. add me on facebook if you have it my email address is [email protected]

    :)

    Hi Trish,

    Congratulations on your engagement!!
I am also a newbie on a tight budget, also from the bournemouth area. Even though i have only been engaged a week and am not getting married until june 2012 im struggling with even trying to start to plan!!

Im finding it difficult because so many people want to come to my wedding however i only really want close friends and family at the actual service.

Its going to be the party after the main reception thats going to be our biggest expense, and at the moment am struggling to find somewhere convenient to have the party that isnt going to charge a fortune or be a long distance away from where the actual service will take place (alot of our family have to travel just to get to the wedding so i dont want them to have to drive too far). I have already decided that we are going to do the after party food ourselves to make it that little bit cheaper. I hope your wedding plans come together and you get all the support you need.

will try to help as much as possible :) good luck!!! :) xx

thank you so much.. .Im actaully from New Milton in the New Forest... so we are to be married in the Ringwood Reg Office....

I was thinking of doing the buffet myself but to be honest i really dont want the hassle..
So ill get someone to do tht, i know someone that charges £6.50 per head, and although i have about 40 peeps coming to the reception.... 15 of those are kids under 8yrs so i will only ask for 30 people in food, and another 50 people in the evening ... again 20 of them are kids, so again ill pay for about 30-32... so that will keep it down a little....

I have often thought about getting a dress off the internet.... but im really worried that ill use (Say) £200 of my budget and it wont arrive or it wont fit, then its more money to have it Altered....shoes are fairly cheap so thats not a worry.. Flowers my sister is doing....

so its just getting a venue with a bar, and paying for a disco that is my only worry....
    xx

I was the same with a dress.. but a lot of ladies on here have bought and recieved lovely dresses from one particular site and hugely recommed it... so my thoughts have changed massively.

I'm sure after looking around and getting the feel of a few places and prices you'll find one you love.. My hall is free aslong as we get the food with them so thats what were planning :D Many places do this now.. after looking around I'm sure you'll find one :)

If you want to know anything or need any tips I may be able to help :) xx

I've put a message on your wall Trish, basically I spend hours trawling thro Ebay lol I got my shoes for £5 brand new,My flower girl dresses were £20 each and my bridesmaid dress was £18....my SIL is making our invites as a present,I've found a photographer for £200 and someones making my cake for £40...Disco will be £100 and the hire of the hall is £120 for the whole day and evening the biggest cost is the catering thats about £700 for the sit down meal and the evening buffet.
I've found the best places to try for venues are village halls or Town halls or even football or rugby clubs usually hire out a function room.Make a list of possible local places then have a ring around x
