Hi all I am Helen and I have just joined this great site. I am looking to get married summer next year (2014) but maybe 2015. I am getting prices of things now to see if we can afford it next year which would be great. We have a very small budget and seem to have lots of guests. We know it will defiantly be in our local church where we both grew up and then my be in just a local hall for reception. For us it is about have people there we care about and not how great the extras are. Cheap and simple looks like the way we will go. Any way feel free to share cheap budget options or any advice with me as not really to sure where to start.
Cant wait to start booking up and having a date to look forward to.
Helen.

Hi and welcome! Your wedding sounds just like mine :-) Me and my fiancé are on a very tight budget of £4000 and are having a church wedding with a village hall reception for approx 100 people day and night. We also felt that we would rather have everyone there that we wanted and do something more low key than to not invite people due to cost. I'm having loads of fun planning and finding bargains, and luckily have a lot of talented friends and family who are providing their services which is keeping costs down! X

That's great. I have been trying to think who can do what to help out with cost. lol.. one thing is sorted my neighbour and really good friend is making my cake so that's one down and loads more to go. Going to see our local hall on Tuesday at 10.30 so hopefully will come away with some date to match up with church and get them booked up. would be a great start. Not to sure when to star doing anything else as don't want to look daft and start to early but don't want to leave it till last min either. I am also a bit of an organised freak lol. we are looking around 100 possibly a few more. Its the food I am worried about the most as this seems to take a big chunk of the money.
Yes it's the food that's our main problem too. We've decided to do a buffet in the afternoon (and asking local friends and family to help us our with that!) followed by a hog roast in the evening which will be £500 and will feed everyone. I'm also looking into caterers incase we won't be able to manage the buffet ourselves but it seems quite expensive.
We're visiting our village hall this week to measure up, so we can start looking at what can go where etc, but we can't really afford to start booking the big stuff until later this year. Luckily our cake, videography and photography is all being given as a gift, and hopefully we'll be able to sort out cars and hair and make-up relatively cheap too.
Good luck on Tuesday and I hope you manage to book your date! X

Hi Chloe and Maggie and welcome!! xx If you unrestrict your profiles, by going to the 'my wedding' tab at the top, by 'home', then click on the tab that says 'my details'. Then if you scroll to the bottom of that page, there'll be a section that says privacy settings: and if you set it to 'public' we can add you as a friend and post useful links on your wall! xxx
