If the date doesn't bother you then shop around for the best venue deal. Usually cheaper in the cooler months but not a given. I have got a bargain on my August wedding and it is on a Saturday!

Some venues give you a discount for a Sunday, we've booked Sunday 1st May which is the bank holiday weekend. Worked out a couple of grand less :)

    Getting married Sunday 1st May 2016 :)

Look at your budget and whether you need time to save, and if so how long. Decide whether there is a particular time of year that would most suit you. Also consider those guests who you most want there: are there times of year which would be difficult for them? Then see what your preferred venue has available.

30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

We looked at cancellation dates for our chosen venue! Low and behold there was one for 5 months later!

Although I would say make sure there is a registrar avaialable in your area before you put any money down on your venue!

Our venue package would have been over three thousand pounds more expensive in the summer than October, which made our decision quite easy. We was very flexible in what we wanted, we nearly had another venue which was offering deals on February weddings, and then found this venue that offered off peak weddings on a special offer, so we basically picked the best potential for weather weekend, after all October has been quite a nice month last few years.

Deffinate check registrar before committing, I booked with around a year to go, and they only had 1130 330 or 430 left. Which made me quite sad as i had my heart on 2pm as it made the day flow so nicely :-)

hi welcome i'd first have the talk about what you both want from the day i.e. a big wedding with all the trimmings a small intimate affair or even going abroad from there you'll be able to figure out where to go what your budget is and then set a date... good luck xx

    Congrats and welcome!
Definitely discuss a budget then make some appointments to view a few places for your venue options, that way you'll see what you like and what's you. Wedding fairs are always great at the beginning to but don't get drawn into paying on the spot unless it's something you really want x
