Has anyone had any problem with suppliers e.g florists for a wedding on New years day? I have it provisionally booked but wasnt sure if hairdressers/florists etc would be happy to cater for you for new years day?

dont have any experience sorry but i would be worried about ppl putting costs higher because they would usually be off/closed though ppl do get married then so guess you just have to ring round some suppiers and see

It will be difficult with florists because THEIR suppliers will not be available/open so you will be getting flowers from before new year, which is a bit dodgy. Plus the florist would have to open up just for your wedding (if they are willing to do it) so yes it will cost u more. It's a tough one, u need to speak to some businesses xx

Surely you could pick them up a day or two before hand? I think NYD will fall on a Wednesday in 2014 so they may still be open on NYE (the tuesday!) for collection

Flowers shouldnt be a problem, I had a knock on the door on the afternoon of New Year's Eve from our local florist with a bunch of 12 red roses. How lovely you would think! Unfortunately they were for next door and wanted me to take them in for them as they were out at the time. Hey ho!

I am prov holding the 27th Dec and am good friends with the event dresser who joked that she wouldnt be preparing things on Boxing Day, but I know that if she wants the business (people can't be picky at the minute!) then she will do it, and I am sure a lot of suppliers will be in this boat!

Yeah florists are open on new years eve. But if urs is anything like the ones in bristol, flowers were last fresh two days before...so yours would be three or four days old by the time of the wedding, which depending on what flowers u wanted it could work...u really do need to go and speak to ur local suppliers xx

Iv emailed loads of local florists there tonight asking all these things so hopefully they get back to me! wouldnt wnat my flowers to be dead but I was also thinking new years eve would be fine to collect them (as long as they were fresh)
