Right my lovely ladies it's that time again! As you may know we have five moderators on ukbride, who are myself, modmummy, lala mod bunny, dove and goff! Because of one thing or another, getting wed, moving to a new house, having a new baby etc etc we have been down to three for a while now, with dove popping in when she can. So after much talk between us and J It was decided to appoint a new MOD! We have been discussing candidates for awhile now with J and have narrowed it down to three protential members who we think would be great to help us! They are always friendly to new and old members alike and give out some fantastic advice, so who better to become a mod! So after talking to the three members in question, they have all agreed to take on this MAD job for free..... so it's now all down to you! The final decision is YOURS!!! To be fair to all - who ever wins the new mod will be fab. The other 2 girls are seriously lovely they are very conciencious about people and their feelings and are not afraid to stand up for what they believe in and Im very pleased to call them both friends xx

Unfortantly there is only room/a need for 5 moderators at this point in time on ukbride, so with lala, modmummy and myself and dove part time there is only room for ONE new moderator. This may change in the furture but isnt the case NOW! So after discussing the benefits and con's of quite a few members on here we the mods and J (the boss man), narrowed it down to these three candidates who we thought we could work well with! We could have just picked one ourselfes and had done with it but as this is your site as well we thought it best for you to have the final choice BUT we the mods have to work with them which is why the choice of the three finalists was our choice! So now its your turn to narrow it down to one!!

I know you think that there is only room for one more mod but I think if you gave all three the job then it would be better as it means there is more chance of having a mod on at some point as you do all have lives and can't be on here all the time.

we have to close the number of mods somewhere o do we have 24 who then have one hour shifts .
I would say the number of mods should be a proportion of the number of users.
As a rule I would think 0.3% would be enough. So 1,000 would need 3 and 10,000 would need 30. How many users are here?
I think 8-10 mods would be enough for the site for a long time. The first time we voted for mods EVERYONE was allowed to nominate others or put themselves forward, I'm not sure why people were not allowed to offer their services this time around. It would ease the work load and give the best coverage - many hands make light work!

so i wasn't gonna post as I'm aware it may raise a difference of opinion but i have to say quite frankly i find some of these comments insulting. As it stands, J requires only FIVE mods and I think we do a pretty damn good job even with one Mod AWOL and another part-time.
Considering I'm a working mother who still finds a fair bit of time to be on here (probably more than i should be on to be honest), Hails has 3 kids to run after but still on here all day and lala who again works but does spend a damn lot of time on here considering. Its being insinuated that there's rarely ever a mod around, but realistically the ratio of mods online is higher compared to no mod online.
There is no denying there is some bad feeling that some of you didn't get picked, but J has had the final word in this, it's not a decision that was made lightly or in some form of popularity contest, we sat for WEEKS discussing what would be best for THE SITE and chose based on members abilities rather than their presence, cause believe me it isn't easy to put up with this kind of stick. And at the end of the day we did have the option to just go ahead and choose ourselves but knew that wasn't best for the site.
As to the fact that its been a general vote before, I want to kind of paraphrase the philosopher David Hume.... Induction, deals with coming to general conclusions based on knowledge of specific cases. In other words, just because a certain method has been used in the past, doesn't necessarily mean its the best or only method. In order to grow we need to try new things.
OK rant over, and while i realise this post may cause some upset, i feel i have the right to express my opinions without the need to censor them just cause i'm a mod.

Lets pu it this way - me and the other 3 girls up for this have been through alot with these mods.
Before a fair few of you were on this site we went through a few blips shall we say and those girls went through absolute hell. They did it on their own.
They need another mod to share the burden.
Do they need 3 of us - ok possibly but it doesnt mean the 2 of us who are unsuccessful are going to be away and not helping because we will. We are a family here we help each other out.
Ok we wont be able to tell people off or deal with the rubbish they deal with. But we will be there to back them up and support them as much as we possibly can as we are a family (if a weird one) and we love each other. We will all be here for these girls and for you as its just our natures. Regardless of who gets the job and that is the honest truth.
