I had heard recently about a few brides to be that they either dont like what there new surname is going or be or it clashes with their first so I was jus wondering if any of you dont like your husbands surname or you love what its going to be

Mine will be Samantha Ogilby which I like and am very excited about

Yes I heard a bit on Radio One where a girl wanted the listeners' opinions on whether or not to take her husband's name or to keep her own as well and make it double-barrelled, as she didn't think her name went with his surname :)

I don't particularly mind one way or the other. I don't think my new name will be very nice - Madeleine McCutcheon - but I don't think Madeleine Henry is that much better! The only thing that will be weird is changing my signature I think. And of course all the paperwork and stuff. I knew about passport, banks, insurance etc but as I'm a vet apparently I need to decide whether or not to change my name on the veterinary register too - no doubt they'll charge for the privilege!

I think Samantha Ogilby sounds very nice - and quite posh! ;)

I can't wait to get rid of my surname! People never want to believe that it is is actually my name, when I first told my h2b what it was he laughed and said 'no seriously' and on the phone they always try to change it so I end up having to spell it out to them! My name is currently Linzi Balls and will change to Linzi Kyriacou! Bit of a mouthfull but so much better than what I have now! (even facebook wont let me use my last name as it is too rude so I had to add another s on to it! lol) xxx

I will be changing to Preston which part of me just thinks its quite a boring name. Am I terrible? Regardless of the name I am very excited to become Mrs Preston.

I loved my original surname, Knight. Considered making it double barrelled, but Brown-Knight just sounds like a bad Batman movie..... Lol!
I was weirded out by the thought of changing my name, and still am! Its a family thing, I've always been proud of it. But being Mrs Brown is turning out to be quite nice, if confusing!! Scared the hell out the postie when I handed him the mail back the other day saying it wasn't for me. Hubby had to politely ask for it back, as I had forgotten I had changed my name lol!!!!

I'm gonna miss my surname, I'm an only child and hate the idea that I'm giving away that part of my family heritage. I've not nothing particularly against Lewis as a surname, although I knew a right strange piece of work at uni who was also called Emma Lewis, that's gonna be weird. :-/ But Simpson-Lewis just isn't pretty or sensible, so Mrs Lewis I shall be (although I'm not sure I'll change my signature, most people just see a scribble anyway, but I designed it when I was 12, it'd make me feel better still signing myself as a Simpson, even if no-one else knew!

It's not that I don't like it, I'm just against the principle in general as it applies to me. I feel as if I would be throwing away my past and my accomplishments if I were to officially change my name. If people want to call me Mrs. So&So I wouldn't be offended, I just won't be changing it officially.

I'm not sure whether im looking forward to it or not, I'm going from a surname no one can spell (davis) to a surname no one can spell or pronounce (aldersea). In fact me and h2b are arguing about the pronounciation of his surname I say al-der-sea e says all-der-sea.

I hate when official people ask me my name as I have to stand there and spell every single letter (there are way too many different spellings of Catherine) its going to be even worse when I'm married.

I've already started trying to find a new signature as mine at the moment is just so fast and easy and difficult to read.

I hate my new surname. My husband isn't too fond of it either. He would have taken my name but my old name meant less to me than last year's fashion trend. He says that he will change his name when his father dies (which may not be for 30 years!) but if we are going to have kids I will not let them have Nutt as a surname as there is enough for kid's to be teased/bullied for without the hardship of their name! If I become pregnant and he doesn't changed it then I will change mine back and they will have my old name with me.

I cannot WAIT to take my H2B's name!! I have always loved Jack for a boy's name (if i was to have a son) however, that will have to go out the equation as I am not allowing my son to be named Jack Daniels....really!?!

Other than that, I cannot wait to become Mrs Daniels :D - one good thing, it'll stop people going, what your surnames Goodman? but your a woman, so shouldn't it be GoodWoman.... yeh haha mate your a hoot.

However I love my new surname. I have however been married two months and still say kemp when people ask my name then have to quickly correct myself. I still go to sign kemp too and my new signiture is little more than a scrawl my 3 year old could do. I'm sure the more i practice when I remember the neater it will get I hope. Well here goes, a good laugh to be had by all, my maiden name was Walford so you can guess how much stick I used to get, got married for the first time 19 years ago and became Taylor so Teresa Taylor had a nice ring to it. Unfortunately that marriage ended after 7 years. My future h2b's surname is Smith, so as you can imagine he doesn't like the idea of me double barrelling my surname as its my ex husband's surname lol so in 7 weeks time I'll become Teresa Clair Smith and have to be happy with it lol

I have a bit of a dilemma about this actually- it has caused a few domestics!

    Current name: Miss Charlotte Ryan
Traditional Married Name: Mrs Charlotte Austin - issue here is that my h2b has been married before and I don't want to be Mrs Austin the Second to all his family. H2b says 'You're going to be my wife, you're taking my name' (I know, I know!)
Other Option 1: Mrs Charlotte Ryan - my response to h2b's above comment- 'Fine, I'll keep my own' (Didn't go down too well!)
Other Option 2: Mrs Charlotte Ryan-Austin - I'm worried that this sounds too much like RyanAir!!!!!!!
Other Option 3: Mrs Charlotte Austin-Ryan - Sounds too much like a car, no?
Other Option 4: Mrs Charlotte Rhian Austin - change my soon-to-be maiden name to a middle name (but female spelling) and take his name as my new surname?

As you can see, I have given this faaaaaar too much thought and want a decision!!!!!

    What do you think ladies??
