Our story is this is my 1st wedding and i have never been to a wedding in my life so i don't know how the wedding thing works or what happens other than the two people end up as husband and wife, i know i'm young at 20, but we still have no idea how to go around the big day plan.
Any help will be very helpfull and thanked

Me and my fiance have been young sweethearts and have been together all the way through school and have been best friends all the way through.so we risked our special friendship to take it to a more physical level and it just felt so right.we have always been very close really good friends that it couldnt have worked out better.
He is two schools years older which was a good thing. since us both leaving 6th form we have offically been together nearly 3 years and engaged for over a year.

We first got togther on august 23rd which is why this date is so very special to us both and its the perfect date for us that was one thing we knew we where sure on.

Many thanks for taking the time to read our story

    Congratulations!!!

first thing I guess is what is your budget? Decide where you'd like to get married - church, regisry office or somewhere else then go and look at venues. Once all that's sorted start thinking about who's coming, who's involved (BM's, ushers etc) and dresses, flowers, jewellery, DJ's the list goes on unfortunately lol

there is a thread saying everything you need to know about whats need for a wedding hun if you look :0) but the list is neverending most of the time. start with picking the date and then looking for venue's/churches/registry office whichever you want and go from there xx

    Congrats and welcome

I agree budget comes very high up the list but you need to decide what you want before you can set that and work out how long its going to take to save up for your wedding.

so are you going for a church wedding or a civil ceremony.
are you wanting a reception in a hotel with food provided or sort out a marquee/village hall/ friendly garden with caterers bought in. or even doing your own stuff

why don't you get a few wedding mags and have a look at the different types of wedding
also you might like to look at tv shows like 4 weddings and films about weddings to have a look at what other people are doing.

once you work all that out you can work out your budget and time frame

Yeap, good advice from emsy, a wed mag usually has a list of things in from the start to the end of the planning.....

Look around, dont just settle at the first thing, try and get things knocked down in price, this isnt always possible but maybe the £10 you save on flowers can be used to buy some favours (things you put on the table for the guest, like mini gifts, usually a chocolate or sugared almonds... although bubbles are quite popular now).

MOST IMPORTANT..... DONT LET ANYONE TELL YOU WHAT YOU MUST HAVE OR CANT HAVE (inless its a legal requirement)....ITS YOUR WEDDING YOUR WAY.

Good luck, welcome to the forum, congrats and we are all here to listen and advice when we can!

aww welcome babes.... i have never thought id get married and never even thought about it before now! got engaged a few days ago, but the budget is the most important thing..We sat down last night and worked how much we can realisticly save untill march 2012 and we can spend around £7000. We have started looking at venues as i want to get married in wales, but always ask for discounts ect. The only thing they can do is say no!!

good luck, this website is amazing for hints and tips :)
