Is the date really important to you? Would you be upset if you had to change? xx

As someone who has a football mad fiance I would personally be inclined to change the date, but that's me. I think that it's such an important day you should have it whenever you want and your guests should respect that it is your wedding day and not disappear to watch a match!!! After all, isn't this what Tivo / Sky plus was created for ;-)
You should feel happy either way - if you have your heart set on 14/06/12 then keep that date, but if it's going to seriously worry you then maybe rethinking the date isn't a bad idea -either way, it's YOUR day not theirs :-)
xx

It doesnt mean anything but when we first discussed it the 14th was the only date that suited with what we wanted to do and the venue that we have picked only has that saturday left!!

I think it definitely depends on why you chose that date, and if you're happy enough to change it then you would save possible dissapointment on the day! xx
Thanks Ladies I will discuss with H2B when comes back from work next week (he's at the opposite end of the country at the minute) I think i will have to move it because i no that the first one out the door would be the Father in Law!! x

thankfully my h2b couldn't give 2 hoots about football so we wouldn't be bothered about the date. If it was special to us we wouldn't be changing it for a sporting event. If people don't want to come because they're more interested in 22 grown men prancing around a pitch after 1 ball then let them get on with it. Will just save you having to fork out a load of money paying for them lol besides, it's england, we wont get that far ;) x

HaHa thanks ClareE that made me chuckle if only it was that easy i just no that everyone wld leave the reception or not even come!! x

I would probably change it if you think all the blokes will just scoot off to find the nearest tv. It just depends how much you wanted the date though and for what reasons. xx

I went to a wedding during the ashes and the men were glued to their phones during the ceremony. Almost all of the men at our wedding are big football fans, so a world cup date would be a big no for us!
If only life could be one long tea break
CommentAuthorMrs Davro
I would only keep that date if you can stand whispers of 'england have just scored, Rooney from a free kick' etc all through your vows.
That's the reason we went for an odd year, we both want to watch the footy in the pub.

I booked mine this weekend for 6th June. We are getting married on a friday to make everyone weekend longer. Also it is before the world cup and as my h2b informed me it is a date he won't forget as it's d.day and he is a war film fanatic.

Hmmmm, personally I'm not bothered about the football and I would like to think that people would respect the fact that it's my wedding day and be there for H2B and I on our special day and forget about sport for one day, however ...............if it was the final race of the F1 season and I was at a wedding (or actually any F1 race) I know that I'd be constantly be checking my phone for updates and the result, so I guess I can understand if people will not be fully with you on your day ..............maybe I'd consider changing the date hun, sorry! xx

This is one of the reasons we went for August, because it will all be over by then! Unfortunately I know that men will be watching it on their phones as my h2b is one of the men who has previously done it at a wedding! He didnt care, the score was more important than listening to and watching the wedding for him. So if I was you, I would change it hun, sorry xxx

If it's the date you want and the venues only available then could you compromise and stick up a screen or tv somewhere for those that can't tear themselves away?! Although it all depends on timings of games, you could end up having to time your ceremony round matches so they don't clash! Personally i think the men can live without it for one day! It's not the finals is it?.. xx
CommentAuthor2bMrsManson
No its the first weekend and tbh its the grooms father thats the problem. He worked out what time the match will be on and would be right in the middle of the evening reception! When h2b is back from working away i will see what he says but the screen suggestion doesnt seem to bad if the venue tht we really like allows!! x

I wouldn't want it put on a screen on my wedding day. You shouldn't let your wedding day be overshadowed by people watching football. If it was me, i'd either change date or stick to the date without a tv screen and if people would prefer to watch tv than go to my wedding, then that's their choice. I don't think anyone would honestly not come because of it xxx

If you really want it, could you not show the footballs for all the fans? We were at a wedding in 2010 and they showed the football in the bar so people were still there and they could also have a sneaky peek at the football xxx
CommentAuthorMrs Davro
Oh if the match will be in the evening then speak to h2b about a big screen, or even just a tv.
If it was during your ceremony I would change but as its the evening, your not going to notice the lack of men just play girlie songs then hehe.
CommentAuthorFernP61
if you really want that date and they have plenty of notice i cant see a problem after all its only football i know the men dont see it like that nbut they can alkways record it lol good luck xx
