ok so i have lost all the weight i wanted to lose from having 2 babies in 3 years (i was a busy girl lmao) which was just over a stone, but now i have a mummy tummy. any tips for toning a bit of a saggy tum, been trying situps and crunches but that is just toning up the deeper muscles and unless i walk around with a tense tummy its not noticable. Any ideas ladies? xxx

use a gym ball and do leg raises (lie on the floor hold the ball wilth your feet then lift then lower to a few inches of the floor and repeat) once your use'd to it you can do circle's etc :D hope this helps :D
CommentAuthorammo
sorry no but if u do find out let me please.
CommentAuthorclare

CommentAuthorohfiddles
would a small space hopper work for legs raises? i dont have a gym ball lol xxx
may be a bit heavy, u could do leg raises without one
CommentAuthorohfiddles
oh right. well thanks, this is gonna get added into my workout straight away!!!! sounds like it would be good for thighs too? xx
CommentAuthorclare
yeah, there's loads of variations of it too, we use'd it at kung fu and it was a fab exercise to tum and legs :D

Pilates is apparently great for toning the tummy muscles. Another one is to lay on your back and put your legs in the air. get someone to stand at your shoulders and push your legs down to the ground quite hard. It's then your job to stop your legs going down to the floor. I used to do these at my kickboxing class and you will ache! Do them unto you have no strength left to resist, have a rest then do another set!
If you are doing crunches make sure you do them very slowly so your tummy muscles are doing the work, and lower yourself back down slowly too. You can also go up in three separate movements, holding each one for a few seconds with your tummy muscles. Same on the way down.
Another good one is to lay on the floor with yours arms out and then lift up your legs and hold them a couple of inches off the ground. It does not sound much, but KILLS after a while.
Finally, you need to do a it of cardio to reveal those toned abs!
To note - I do none of these things, but I know they work!!

i did look into doing yoga classes or pilates but the only ones near me were like £40 a session and i dont have that sort of money lol. Reall good tips thanks ladies gonna be trying them all xx
CommentAuthorHoxxyhula
I think you can get some Pilates DVDs but never used one myself.
CommentAuthorohfiddles
i prefer to do a couple of lessons first. you never know if your actually doing it right when you do it with a dvd. just looking for some discount classes online maybe i will get lucky xxx
CommentAuthorHoxxyhula
yep - think you might be right there. I think Pilates can be quire easy to do wrong, and takes a few gos to get into the whole 'holding your core muscles' thing.

i had a baby 6 month's ago and i lost the weight really quickly but my formally flat tummy now looks saggy and wrinkly. i'm doing gym sessions which are toning up the muscle and burning the fat but the skin looks aweful. unfortunatly i just have to keep going with the exercise and cocoa butter and pray that time really is a healer :(
CommentAuthorSteffie
i'm starting a pilates class with a friend at our village hall for £4.50 a session and hopefully I'll take away the tips and exercises from the class and repeat them while I'm at home until the next week! :) x

bio-oil is meant to be good to improve the appearance of skin?
CommentAuthorohfiddles
its so expensive though, £15 for the larger bottle, and it doesnt go very far xx
CommentAuthorbobbysgirl
there is one just like bio oil called re-gen oil they sell it in boots/superdrug and its about £6 a bottle instead :)
CommentAuthorohfiddles
ohh i might try that one too. am plastering on the cocoa butter too maybe it will work lol xx

i do something called a jack knife on my wii thats really helping with my baby belly its like a sit up but you raise your legs to form a v shape ive really noticed a difference since i started doing them i can now fit into my pre-preg clothes i also have had 2 c-sections so have to work hard to get my tummy toned but it is happening i think i should be back to normal by my wedding also when just walking alone its good to hold your tummy in this also help tone it up
CommentAuthorHelloKitty
If you've been doing sit up's and crunches and still have a saggy tummy then no you need to be doing cardio as that saggy bit will still be excess fat which needs to be burnt in order for the 'toned' muscles underneath to be visible.
Doing the above mentioned exercises is just going to build the muscles underneath making you look bigger than you actually are.

i think home bargins have a bio-oil product, its looks very similuar to the original bottle but has a slightly different name and i think they do it for a couple of quid x
CommentAuthorHoxxyhula
Yep - you have to do a mixture of cardio and toning.
CommentAuthorohfiddles
got the cardio/fatburning down to a tee. but my tum still dosnt look how i want it to. i have even been to the doctors and he said that it isnt fatty tissue. i just need to tone up the top set of tummy muscles. i am gonna try everythinga nd see how i go start on sets of 5 then up them as i go xxxx

Anthony and I are running at 06.30hours every morning (in true army cadet stylee) haha and I'll be starting pilates on tuesday so bring on the toned abs!!!!
CommentAuthorjellytot
if your mummy tummy is just alot of excess saggy skin (like mine) then no amount of exercise will make it any better. your muscles can be as trim and toned as anything but if the skin is still there then its not noticable. i went to my dr about it and he said the only option to get it sorted was surgery! :S

Half six?! That is terrifyingly dedicated!!

I've heard is the vitamin e oil in Bio Oil that makes it so effective, in which case you can get it from like Body Shop or Boots?
When I was younger and fitter I used to have a proper six pack, and I got it from doing sit ups while balanced on a large yoga ball. Your tummy muscles have to work way harder to keep your balance - I think it's the same theory as free weights being harder than weight machines...

hey fiddles, instead of a gym ball try using a foot ball for starters When doing your crunches are you taking your elbow to the opposite knee, it helps define the waist and makes your stoomach muscles work harder Also try lying on your back with your arms straight out palms down, put a ball about the size of a grapefruit (or anything else about that size) between your knees to keep them shoulder width apart, raise them until they are bent at a right angle, as if you were sitting on a chair, twist from the waist until your knees are a few inches off the floor then return to center then go the other way. Good luck

Whilst doing the exercises remember that there are some fab firming lotions out there. they can help loads too. x
CommentAuthorMelly
I think i might try doing some of these. Thanks for the advice girls. xx
CommentAuthorohfiddles

One from the army PTIs fror stomaches...
Lay on back, arms by sides, feet stretched out. Raise feet six inches off floor. Write alphabet in air with feet as small as possible. The challenge is to be able to do as many letters as you can before needing a rest.
This is HARD!! I can manage three or four before needing a break.

The most effective thing i have ever seen for tummy toning is the plank.
If uv not dun it before its basically......
----------]_
if u imagine the ------- as ur body the ] as ur upper arms and the _ as ur lower arms
Ur like in a press up position bar ur elbow to ur hands are on the floor.
Hold this position for 30s and draw ur stomach in.
Kills and u will shake when doing it but it does work :)

I'm going to do the plank and the crunches and continue my 6.30am and 6pm 1.5mile runs...Just spoke to my nan who's seen the piccie of my dress I want, but I need to lose weight for and she said "Stefanie, if that dress doesn't make you want to lose the weight nothing will!!! You've achieved everything in your life that noone expected you to (Cuz i had a serious accident when I was 13), so losing this weight is going to be a doddle!!" I love the support from my nan!!!
