ok so i have lost all the weight i wanted to lose from having 2 babies in 3 years (i was a busy girl lmao) which was just over a stone, but now i have a mummy tummy. any tips for toning a bit of a saggy tum, been trying situps and crunches but that is just toning up the deeper muscles and unless i walk around with a tense tummy its not noticable.
    Any ideas ladies? xxx

use a gym ball and do leg raises (lie on the floor hold the ball wilth your feet then lift then lower to a few inches of the floor and repeat) once your use'd to it you can do circle's etc :D hope this helps :D

Pilates is apparently great for toning the tummy muscles. Another one is to lay on your back and put your legs in the air. get someone to stand at your shoulders and push your legs down to the ground quite hard. It's then your job to stop your legs going down to the floor. I used to do these at my kickboxing class and you will ache! Do them unto you have no strength left to resist, have a rest then do another set!

If you are doing crunches make sure you do them very slowly so your tummy muscles are doing the work, and lower yourself back down slowly too. You can also go up in three separate movements, holding each one for a few seconds with your tummy muscles. Same on the way down.

Another good one is to lay on the floor with yours arms out and then lift up your legs and hold them a couple of inches off the ground. It does not sound much, but KILLS after a while.

Finally, you need to do a it of cardio to reveal those toned abs!

To note - I do none of these things, but I know they work!!

    xx

yep - think you might be right there. I think Pilates can be quire easy to do wrong, and takes a few gos to get into the whole 'holding your core muscles' thing.

i had a baby 6 month's ago and i lost the weight really quickly but my formally flat tummy now looks saggy and wrinkly. i'm doing gym sessions which are toning up the muscle and burning the fat but the skin looks aweful. unfortunatly i just have to keep going with the exercise and cocoa butter and pray that time really is a healer :(

If you've been doing sit up's and crunches and still have a saggy tummy then no you need to be doing cardio as that saggy bit will still be excess fat which needs to be burnt in order for the 'toned' muscles underneath to be visible.

Doing the above mentioned exercises is just going to build the muscles underneath making you look bigger than you actually are.

if your mummy tummy is just alot of excess saggy skin (like mine) then no amount of exercise will make it any better. your muscles can be as trim and toned as anything but if the skin is still there then its not noticable. i went to my dr about it and he said the only option to get it sorted was surgery! :S

I've heard is the vitamin e oil in Bio Oil that makes it so effective, in which case you can get it from like Body Shop or Boots?

When I was younger and fitter I used to have a proper six pack, and I got it from doing sit ups while balanced on a large yoga ball. Your tummy muscles have to work way harder to keep your balance - I think it's the same theory as free weights being harder than weight machines...

hey fiddles, instead of a gym ball try using a foot ball for starters
When doing your crunches are you taking your elbow to the opposite knee, it helps define the waist and makes your stoomach muscles work harder
Also try lying on your back with your arms straight out palms down, put a ball about the size of a grapefruit (or anything else about that size) between your knees to keep them shoulder width apart, raise them until they are bent at a right angle, as if you were sitting on a chair, twist from the waist until your knees are a few inches off the floor then return to center then go the other way.
    Good luck

One from the army PTIs fror stomaches...

Lay on back, arms by sides, feet stretched out.
Raise feet six inches off floor.
Write alphabet in air with feet as small as possible.
The challenge is to be able to do as many letters as you can before needing a rest.

This is HARD!! I can manage three or four before needing a break.

The most effective thing i have ever seen for tummy toning is the plank.

If uv not dun it before its basically......

    ----------]_

if u imagine the ------- as ur body the ] as ur upper arms and the _ as ur lower arms

Ur like in a press up position bar ur elbow to ur hands are on the floor.

Hold this position for 30s and draw ur stomach in.

Kills and u will shake when doing it but it does work :)

    xx

    Happily Married! :) xxx

Good luck fiddles with giving up smoking!!!

I'm going to do the plank and the crunches and continue my 6.30am and 6pm 1.5mile runs...Just spoke to my nan who's seen the piccie of my dress I want, but I need to lose weight for and she said "Stefanie, if that dress doesn't make you want to lose the weight nothing will!!! You've achieved everything in your life that noone expected you to (Cuz i had a serious accident when I was 13), so losing this weight is going to be a doddle!!" I love the support from my nan!!!

2 years to go and about 2.5 stone to lose!!!
