My dad passed away 3 years ago...he would have been 68 today...happy birthday dad! My FIL2B is walking me down the aisle but when it comes to speeches I dont know what to do. In magazines it says the Father of the bride gives a speech about the bride, but my FIL2B doesnt really know that much about me especially pre Steve. Would it be ok to ask my mum to give a speech or should I ask 1 of my brothers...Id prefer my mum but isnt it traditionally left to the men with possibly a speech from the bride? xxx

My dad passed away last year but was ill for years before that. When my sister got married, my brother gave her away and did the speech. I've asked mum to walk me down the aisleand my bro will give the speech :)

I'm with Hails & Halloween_Bride I'm sure you're mum would be over the moon if you asked her :) xxx
It's right what they say
"The course of true love never runs smoothly"
But if it had been easy then we wouldn't love each other as
much as we do right now - 1 week to go :D
i think it would be great for your mum to do a speech...and anyways, loadsa traditional stuff goes out the window nowadays - look how many brides give speeches now!! if you're mum's nervous about it, maybe you could ask her and a bro to do a speech together?! xx

ask your mum. One of our friends got married a few months ago and her dad walked out on her and her sister when they were young and have nothing to do with him. Her mum walked her down the aisle and gave a totally beautiful speech, so i would say def go with your mum and maybe your filtb aswel? x x x

i agree with everybody else, your mother would be an amazing person to give a speech, im not sure what my dad will say tbh seeing as he hasnt really been involved in my life that much over the last 10 years but i think your mum will be over the moon to have such a delightful duty xx

When my bro got married to my sil she had never known her father so her mum gave her away and did the speech. Do what's right for you & your family not tradition, as this isn't a 'traditional' situtation :) x
